Sony, great investment!

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I added this subwoofer to my Sony HT-A5000 sound bar, and it added a nice extra 'punch' to the movies and TV shows that I watch. For a small, to average size living room, this is a good investment, it fills the room with bass that you can feel, but only when the movies audio sound track is properly encoded to channel the audio to the appropriate speakers. Otherwise it doesn't add much to regular TV shows, but that's not the subs fault, it can definitely throw some deep bass! Pair it up with the Sony SA-RS5 rear surrounds and you'll have a nice encompassing surround system that you can enjoy for years to come.

Great but pricey.

You can tell the dual subwoofer has a balance bass. The connection was very easy with the Sony HTA9. Cons- this subwoofer should come with the corresponding sound bar and not as an add on to a system. The price is a bit high and prohibitive. Overall I am very happy with this sub and have not negatives with the sound quality.

Room Shaking Bass with HT-A9

Base reflex = outstanding audio reproduction !!

Remember folks, this base speaker produces any and all Base related sounds whether they be voice , music, or sound effects... If you don't hear them it's because the sound engineer for the movie you are watching DID NOT put those base related sounds in the sound track for the movie you are watching! This speaker really does a great job of pushing the dialogue out front where you can hear it... I would definitely recommend to a friend...

SA-SW5 - The perfect edition to system

I started out with a Sony Theater Bar 8 and the SA-RS5 rear speakers and the system sounded impressive. But adding this base was a fantastic addition to the sound system.

Buy open box and save!! This provides nice deep bass, but not bass all the time where it’s just rumbling, it provides base at the right time as intended, if that makes sense. I paired this with the Bravia theater bar, and the combo was nice. Just really expensive, so that’s my only gripe.

It should be noted at low levels this thing isn't strong at all. It's connected to my A95L 77in TV and it really comes to life when you push the volume up to 40. I haven't pushed the system past 50 bc there's no reason to. Around 45 the floor will have a good vibration, and can only be heard a little outside my house.... May want to avoid if you live in an apartment unless your neighbors like listening to your music/ movies

If the input sources contain very little bass sound components (i.e., a TV broadcast), the sound from the subwoofer may be difficult to hear. You can check the subwoofer sound by emitting the test tone. Also, set the night mode to off. For details, refer to the Operating Instructions supplied with a compatible model. Solid but not spectacular…

It works reasonably well, but does not provide the ooomph expected at this price level. Bass is tight, never boomy, and certainly takes the system up a notch or two. Unfortunately I cannot shake the perception that a sub at this price, and physical size (it is big!) should be much more impressive.

Essential addition for HTA7000 soundbar

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Essential accessory for HTA7000 soundbar, really boosts the bass from the system, if you want you can purchase just the soundbar & if you're not satisfied with the low end you add this sub later, it's wireless and setup is very easy, like most speakers it has cloth covering the drivers so beware if you have cats, etc. but you can place it pretty much anywhere in the room.

powerful and a must

Turned up to 7 it vibrates my chair 9' away. Sony knocked it out of the park with this one. It's very expensive but again, you get what you pay for.
