I bought this 4K player to work with the XBR75X850E TV that I purchased. This player is well made - much heavier than other players. It was easy to setup and navigate through the menus.

I recently bought a 4K tv so naturally I was looking for a DVD player to go with my new tv. I did a lot of research on google and found this to be the best for the price. When I came on Best Buy.com the reviews were all fantastic and they do not lie! This is a great DVD player to go along any 4K TV. It is very quite while it is on so you don’t hear background noise during silent parts of the movie, the movies look stunning, and the audio is great! I highly recommend this player instead of the more expensive ones!

Awesome 4K device. Sound, Pictiure and streaming is beautiful! Works great with my Oled 65 LG tv and Onkyo receiver. Only issue, I can’t figure out how to remove not wanted apps.

Although I could not add a browser app to the apps, it's a blu ray player and its 4k. Make sure you have the correct HDMI cables and a 4k tv. Upscales my other movies really nice.

Sony reduced the price of this unit, originally $299 and with the discount is an excellent unit that lets you play 4K and other disk formats and the picture quality is terrific!

I owned a Panasonic plasma for ten years and it still had an outstanding picture except for two lines on the edge of the screen. I had been looking at the LG OLED's for a few years and found them to be one of the few that had a better picture than my plasma. There is definitely some work to do with the LG as far as calibrating the picture, but once this is done the picture is the best I have seen. The picture quality for regular HD looks like I am at a live play rather than watching a drama on TV. When I play a 4K blu-ray the picture is absolutely amazing. Sports on this screen is incredible as well. I am so happy with this purchase.

I thought movies were great on my 4k tv with just an ordinary blu ray player. Sony's 4k player is pretty awsome! It even makes a big difference on regular dvds. Extremely happy!

This system plugs directly into the sound bar and from there the ARC cable took it to the TV. This means only one cable from my blue ray player to the TV. The unit plays whatever I have put into it, from home made movies to the latest 4K movies. It spins the disk for a moment and then plays whatever you have there. It up scales some old DVD's to make them look better than ever, with no required input from me. The TV even shows a disk is ready to play without using the remote or any settings required. The front panel has no buttons, just press the upper right hand corner to turn it on and a small green LED lights. Press next to this light and the entire front panel opens to take your disk. makes unit very sleek looking. Put the disk in and press again and the front close and starts the reading process with no more effort on your part. Select the disk on the screen and you are watching the movie, your old fishing trip, or the kids latest concoction for you evening entertainment. I would recommend this player to any of my friends and the friends who have seen it take a disk, upscale it and play it with no effort on my part all say, "How did you make it do that?" I say it is just a smart piece of equipment. I have not connected the wired internet I have throughout the house, but it has connected to my WI-FI on it's own and I have updated the software. That is a great option to keep the player up to date with the latest software. This was money well spent.

Let me start off by saying I did not go to Best Buy to purchase this player. I had done a lot of research, and had decided on a Samsung. I was talking to a Best Buy employee I have dealt with before ( I trust his advice), and he pointed me to this player. I looked at both of them and decided to go with the Sony. The first thing I noticed above all else was how well built the Sony is. The Samsung was lightweight and felt like most others - that is, if I dropped it, it would break apart. The Sony felt really solid and was much heavier. As this unit is going to sit in a credenza, the weight is not an issue. The player was easy to setup, and works great. The picture quality is outstanding, and the built-in streaming services are likely to be a big bonus for some. I am currently using a Roku, so I don't need them on this unit. But it is a nice feature. I am controlling the Sony with a Harmony 650 remote. The Sony is in the database, and all controls are available. Load it up, move a few things around to suit your tastes, and your ready to roll. The only thing I find difficult to get used to is the lack on any display. This is not a good thing or a bad thing, just different. When I turn on the Sony, a small green LED in the right corner lights up, that's it. Like I said, not a bad thing, just different. I like this 4K/BR player and highly recommend it. I am looking at adding one at work for the breakroom. The good price, great quality, and built-in streaming services makes this a perfect solution for our break room.

Samsung had the courage to put out the first 4k blu ray player. Credit should be given. Then came others, and the reviews poured in for all contenders. Each had complaints and each had some strong points. The price for the Sony X800 dropped to the point where the risk was minimal. And so the purchase. The set up went smooth, but only after three tries at setting up wi-fi. After the third identical effort, the result was successful. I hard-wired it just in case. Reviews are always a thing of beauty and horror. This unit worked out of the box, is solid as many mention, and most importantly it has worked to a degree unexpected. I am always suspect of unconverting products, but the units u conversion triad, between a Samsung SUHD, an Integra receiver, and the Sony unit clearly yields a super picture with regular dvd, blu-ray or 4K source. Only a really washed out low end made for tv type of dvd looks bad. The colors on all three formats are superior to a regular player, due no doubt to the new expanded color standards. There are youtube videos of setting suggestions. I set most stuff on automatic and did not play with anything else. i did put the one setting at 4K, not auto. The speed is nice, the unit is quiet, and like everyone else, I would rather have a readout on the front panel. But all you have to do is hit display, so hopefully we are not that spoiled that this is an issue. I usually like remotes that have plenty to play with, but i find this simple design easy to use. The same can be said about the Integra's remote. I did a side by side for an hour between the Integra, Denon, and Anthem receivers. Vdeo processing of the Anthem was a micro ahead of the Integra, but both were clearly better than the Denon. Both also had better sound. The reviews of the X800 speak of the good sound quality that can come out of the unit. Never being impressed with SACD sound, I simply usually put a disc on a DSP mode. The curiosity mandated I give a SACD a try running through the new Sony 800 with no receiver dsp. I was very surprised at the sound and will now look for more SACD's at bargain stores: very impressed. If this unit does not fail in the near future, as some have reported, i will consider this a great buy. My current 3d Sony Blu-ray unit is three years old and a veteran of about 15 hours a week. The prediction is that units will improve and offer better features as new models come out in 2018. I did not listen to the higher price Sony for difference in sound quality. This 800 is hi res and I bet the difference is present, but minimal. Now this may be wrong, but I was not about to pay several hundred bucks more to find out. There are a couple of good sites on the web that tell you if a 4k disc is a mere 2k weak effort or true native 4k. At least one site provides a nice summary of the 2k discs that have been mastered to the degree that the picture is superior and worth the purchase. The Great Wall was pretty impressive.

I just paired this Sony 4K HDR disc player with my newly purchased Sony 65" 4K HDR TV... The 4K discs look incredible as you would expect. But the thing that impressed me most is how good it made regular Blu-Rays and DVD's look. This is only my opinion, but I noticed such an improvement in picture quality, that I would guesstimate it brings regular 1080p blu-rays to near 2K quality. I would also say it makes regular 480p DVD's look somewhere close to 1080p. Super easy connections with your high quality HDMI cables (18gbps). And I was also really impressed with the rock solid construction of the player. Hands down the best 4K disc player for under $300. Would highly recommend to anyone in the market for this type of player.

This is fantastic home equipment. Has 145 watts that will not be taxed in your living/rec room. Integrates seamlessly and flawlessly with any current TV/DVD player. Cannot say that system hookup is easy as I am "technology challenged" and hired Geek Squad for installation. I do not need to understand the technical aspects of the system but can assure you the visual and audio are fantastic and after all, isn't that the only thing that really matters? Due to my lack of knowledge I researched multiple independent reviews and the consensus was this was the best in its price class and they were correct.
