I so wanted to keep this but item was broken. Traded it back in and bought a cheaper one that works great with no defects.

The Sony UBP-X1100ES does not disappoint. I won’t be able to enjoy the DolbyVision until I get a new TV but the movies I’ve watched in HDR10 and Dolby Atmos are a big improvement from my old Samsung in both audio and video. Out of the box, setup was easy and I like that. The onscreen guide walked me right through everything, including the wifi setup. Very simple to get going. I left most things on AUTO to begin with and was I happy to see my receiver picked up the Atmos soundtracks without having to do anything in the player. Nice to see DTS-X supported as well but so far the only movies I’ve watched have Atmos I’m aware of the DolbyVision issue where you have to manually turn it on and off but since my current TV doesn’t support it anyway, it won’t bother me for now but do hope Sony ends up fixing that issue by the time I pick up a new TV. I hate having to go in the settings a lot. I kind like to just fire and forget once I get something the way I like it. I only have one DVD Audio disc and it sounds great – Led Zeppelin –How The West Was Won. Not sure my neighbors liked it though this past Sunday morning. Upconverting regular Blurays is fantastic. Tough to even tell they’re not 4K to begin with. I tried out my Netlix account on it and was amazed at how much better it looked compared to the one built in to my TV. So I’ll be using the Sony one going forward. And a built in button right on the remote makes it even better. One reason I haven’t picked up a new TV is the fact that 3D TVs aren’t really around anymore and I still have a large 3D collection with movies I still like to watch from time to time. I was extremely pleased that this player still supports 3D. It’s such a shame this format didn’t make it. Anyway, I popped in a couple 3D movies and they both looked fantastic. I think that says more about the TV than the player but either way, 3D still survives at my place. Overall, I really love this player and I’m sure once Sony works out the DolbyVision auto switching, everyone else will too
