This is a unit of solid construction. Blu-ray and 4K UHD discs look wonderful through the unit. Having watched the 4K UHD disc and compared it to portions of the accompanying bru-ray of identical content, I can't say that the 4K UHD picture was noticeably different to my eye. But I will keep the unit, because a one-to-one comparison of picture quality isn't possible, and the specifications definitely favor 4K UHD over blu-ray. Description of how to use the remote would be helpful. I discovered the slow-motion function only by accident. Additional remote functions would be useful also.

Bought an open box x700, but it works great. Blu ray and dvd movies play great on this unit. Faster than my old player. No issues. Love it. Do not need the apps, they just muddy up the startup screen. My only gripe.

Bought this for my neighbor because their tv had Dolby Vision (referred by the kids as "DV"). I'd heard about some of the glitching that some of models in the x700 and x700/m have. Sure enough, I had to enable and re-enable DV at times because the picture would start to get tingy. Discs would pause and get stuck randomly at times. I do not remember if it was 4k or bluray content--- at the point I had to enable and re-enable DV I already wanted to take it back lol. Other then it being glitchy (Sony does not fully rectify theses issues over the years).. it is actually a great player. This and the Panasonic DP-UB420 have gone on sale for $150 every couple of months since 2021. The Panasonic is the better choice overall. I wouldn't pay more than $150 for it, though. If you have a Projector screen then there is no better choice at this price point than the Panasonic DP-UB420. Just be cautious if you buy this Sony model. Buy it on sale only and pay attention to your Retailers warranty/return policy. If you love Sony, buy an extended warranty... may be one day that Sony will fix these issues in a firmware update. If not you'll be covered for sure under extended warranty, if not Sony's. Because, really, this player would be great if it wasn't (so..could..be..glitchy) prone to glitch. That's why I'll never buy another Sony product without thoroughly reasearching it.

Excellent 4k Blu-ray player. The picture pops and the blacks are really I’m using a 85 inch 4k Sony tv and it’s like being at the movies

The DVD player is awesome plays 4k movies. The player is very easy to operate. The quality is amazing.

This was a great blue ray player, the picture is clear and it is really easy to use. It is small and does not take up space.

Fantastic picture, sound quality, and very easy to use. Only downside is you have to turn Dolby Vision on and off for the appropriate 4K disc.

The picture on this compact player is simply amazing, I've only played 4k discs on it so far. Colors are rich, and the sound is simply fantastic. Have a receiver for surround sound. It's running through the TV to the Receiver (Both Sony's). Highly recommend this player. I'm not streaming anything on it so can't review that part of the product. But the player itself is, no issues, No freezing up, just clear picture and great sound.

Great DVD player. I liked it so much this is the 2nd one I’ve purchased. It plays DVDs Blue Ray & multiple regions of DVDs which is great because I have numerous British DVDs. I like the remote & was able to program the volume to my Samsung TV. I did a lot of research & this one is ranked as one of the best in this price range. I’m extremely satisfied. The picture quality is GREAT. I love it & would definitely recommend it to my friends & family

I bought this Blu-ray player to replace my old DVD player and old CD player. This particular Blu-ray player had the output types that I needed. I used the digital Coaxial audio output to run to my Yamaha stereo receiver since the receiver did not have an HDMI input. I did use the Blu-ray HDMI output to run to my new Samsung QLED TV. I have used this player to play CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray discs. The CDs play great. The old DVDs look fuzzy as expected but could be watched if highly motivated. The Blu-ray discs look great as expected. All in all, I am happy with this Blu-ray player. The quality seems good and the connections it offered did not force me to buy another Receiver. PS: My Samsung TV brings up a minimal screen automatically showing the progress of playing CDs but not the names of the songs

We bought a new 4K tv so the next obvious step was a 4K Blu-ray player, and this checked all the boxes. Fantastic picture quality, crisp & clear. You do have the option to stream using preloaded apps, but we already have them on our tv so it wasn’t necessary. Although I prefer to be brand loyal, I didn’t have that option when searching for the 4K Blu-ray player, so I opted for the next best brand and this didn’t disappoint. I definitely recommend it!

Excellent quality. I highly recommend it. I need it a bluray player to replace my ps3 and i also wanted a good 4k player. This one is perfect all my movies look great. I highly recommend it.

I was looking for an home surround system; however, they have gone back to the separate components. This player was recommended by the sales person. I am very happy with the quality for an inexpensive player

Nice BD player. Basic functions that all work. The unit has a small footprint. The function buttons on the unit are difficult to see or feel. The only problem I have experienced is that the remote will not work when the player is behind a cabinet door. Line of sight only with limited range.

Excellent Ultra 4K DVD player. I have a Sonos ArcUltra with two ERA 300 speakers. Dolby ATMOS movies are insanely great sounding, couldn't ask for better

This is a great 4k DVD player. UHD in this player coupled with my surround sound provide a theater like experience. This is also compatible with CDs, legacy DVDs and blurays. I feel the quality is better than streaming.

I was very impressed with the quality of this blu-ray player. I bought it for the Dolby Vision support, but the sound pleasantly surprised me. The only possible drawback that you may have for it, but it's not a big deal for me is that Dolby Vision has to be toggled on and off. It doesn't automatically change it for every disc.
