No patience or young people around. The sound is good in the room, for the price. I've listened a little here and there over a few days. The batteries are down to about 40%. So I haven't listened too much, nor have I taken them outside yet. Curious to see if I take them outside, do I need to bring the ipad? Or not - hoping. Sorry can't be more help.

Thank you for sharing your initial experience with the ULT FIELD 1 speakers. We're glad to hear you're enjoying the sound quality and were able to get them set up.
To answer your question about using them outside, you do not need to bring your iPad with you as long as it's within the Bluetooth range of the speakers, which is typically about 30 feet (10 meters) with a clear line of sight. It's often possible to have your device inside while the speakers are playing outside, though thicker walls or other obstacles may affect the signal. We hope you enjoy them when you get a chance to use them outdoors!

Crisp, Big Sound in a Small Package!

Sony vs JBL/Bose

I have a lot of JBL & Bose products. I did return. Nice enough of a speaker, but I feel it is all about personal preferences.

You are absolutely right that sound is a matter of personal preference. We designed the ULT10 to offer a powerful, deep bass experience in a highly portable package. However, we understand that listeners who are accustomed to the distinct sound signatures of JBL and Bose may be looking for a different acoustic balance.
