I have to be honest and say that I was not a fan of Sony audio products although I love their camera and TV products. I tested one of these at store due to having loud neighbors next door that I needed to drown out the neighbors to be able to play TV or music inside my house. Loved this so much that I switched this to be my main system and bought the Sony V21 to control the neighbor noise next door. The built-in radio and integration with Android phones is great. The sound is great. When I play Godzilla and King Kong On there, the neighbors get real quiet. I heard one of them tell another that they could not hear anything over the %#!& Godzilla noise. Great job on this Sony! Great job to BB on the display at store that sold me on buying this.

As a bass lover, this speaker is not disappointing me. My entire music library sounds great through this speaker, the lights add the perfect touch I was looking for on a device like this. Very much recommended.

I bought this as gift for my mother who likes to jam to music any opportunity she gets. There's tons of bass, crisp highs however I wish the lights did more things and the UI was better

Heavier than it looks, way louder than it looks like it would be also. Party lights on the ceiling and behind the unit. Gesture controls, remote control and even an app. Customization is impressive. But what is truly impressive is the amount of volume that comes out of this unit. It's seriously loud. We demoed it in our living room and it was more than anyone would need. We moved it to our spare 30x60 metal building and for a party it was still very loud. Bass was outstanding. It's pricey but if you can afford it, you will not regret it.

The MHC-V71 is a great product sounds great easy to use and fits the house nicely. A typical Sony product great as always. Family enjoys karaoke and the use of two mics!

Wow... best word to describe!! Very loud and clear music with big pinch of bass... the lights are ok... the 2 mic ports are a great plus... and it even has a CD player.

I love this speaker it was exactly what I wanted and expected it to be. It’s really loud and the bass is amazing. My kids love the lighting on the speaker it’s perfect for my parties.

Great sound! Lights are bright and the sound is loud. Includes every feature that one would look for. A family member in a different state also purchased one.

I bought this speaker just to have in my bedroom. We decided last minute to have a surprise birthday party for my daughter too it outside and it was just loud and just full of power. neighbors actually thought we had a dj but nope it was just me and my speaker whom I have named tiki cause with the flashing lights it really does look like one haven’t really figured out all the features but I am happy to just be able to blast all my Queen music. I love it and it’s by far the best ever

You can do a lot with speaker. Very nice for entertaining friends. Convenient wheels makes it easy to move to different locations. Gives a nice light show.

This speaker absolutely cranks! I’ve successfully irritated all my neighbors and I live next to a cemetery! Jokes aside this speaker has insane mids and endless power and volume the party lights only offer random sequences but they still accentuate the speaker nicely, the Bluetooth range on this speaker is crazy I can have it blasting on the 2nd floor of my house and still be connected outside by my fire pit over 200ft away! So it speaks for itself it may be 500 dollars but the entertainment value and quality definitely make it worth it!

Fun to play taiko drumming CDs and actually feel a boom, vibrations just like being at a live show with a big drum. Karaoke and guitar inputs are the winner. The taiko game, not so much (delayed, not really my interest anyways). I think the DJ and other features will be nice once you familiarize and get to know (or want to use) these features. The Sony Music app and Fiestable app are OK. There are way too many touch sensor buttons on the panel (I would prefer real buttons and dials). The linking Party Chain feature didn't seem to work or very hard to figure out-- that sucked. It is a tower unit. Easier if you know or can tilt far enough to use the built-in casters, But generally, you lift and lug. It isn't that heavy but for a short person, a little harder to manage. Still possible. I have smaller unit V21 which is more portable, but this one V71 sounds way better (with more internal speakers and watts).

Upon delivery of my Sony MHCV71, the first thing I noticed was how gigantic this speaker system is. It is really a beast and fairly heavy. It is packed with two 4.75" Mid range speakers, two 2" tweeters, and a giant 11.9" Woofer.. I wouldn't quite call it a subwoofer because it hits good bass notes and can shake the walls but not really hit deep lower frequencies. Rolling around and setting up is fairly easy. It does have wheels on the bottom of the back side so you can lean it back and roll it easier around rooms. I found it does not work all that well on carpet though. It does have places to grab to lift and move around if you need. The whole unit is designed to sit around the center of the room when using for a party, but only comes with a fairly short power cable, I believe around 3ft, so an extension cord may be needed if playing in the center of a room. The top panel is a lot to take in at first glance, but is easy to coordinate once you look it over good. Once plugged in, the demo mode automatically comes on and flashes all the led lights on the 360 light arrays and the led on the woofer and mids. It is fairly easy to turn off so no lights flash when powered off. When powering on, the lights will flash again, but there is a button to do basic LED functions.. In order to get the most out of the speaker system, you will need to download two apps. One is the Sony Music Center App, and the other is a plug in for that app called Fiestable. That app and the plug in will give you much greater control over the speaker system and its features. The first cool thing you notice is the 360 party lights. Turn the lights off in the room and the lights shoot out in a full circle all the way across the entire room. I set mine up in a fairly large size living room. They flash different colors and patterns and the LED on the woofer and mids are just a lighter greenish tone. That can not be changed. In the app you can put on your own on the fly light show in Fiestable, and have several options for mixing the lights how you want. There are several methods to playing music through this speaker system, including FM radio, CD/DVD Player, Auxiliary, and Bluetooth. Once you have your music set up, be prepared to get blown away. This sucker gets LOUD! The volume goes from 0-50 and is almost over powering at anything over 40. It is easy to fill sound up in multiple rooms. The music stays very clear and crisp, and has an overall excellent sound. As I mentioned before the woofer does not play super low frequencies but is loud enough to rattle walls.. In the app you can set up different EQ's and surround types. This system also serves well if you want to hook up to your TV and use it as a home theater system. The next cool features of this speaker system are the microphone and guitar inputs. You can use 2 separate microphones and freestyle karaoke, or use 1 microphone and plug a guitar into the second port so you can sing and play if you want, especially over other music. Although the guitar volume does not get loud enough to play over other loud music playing and be able to hear it clearly. When playing with out it being over other music, it does come in nice. There are also a few guitar features you can select on the speaker system. The microphone system works good and is fun to sing along to songs. There is a karaoke mode you can activate that will allow you to control microphone features on the top panel. And that is about where the cool features end and the somewhat gimmicky features begin. To start, they are fun to play with, but don't feel practical for long use. There is a DJ mode, a Sampler Mode, and a motion panel you can use for hand gestures. The DJ mode is interesting but is better used on the app. It's downfall is that you can not fade modes back into normal, or transition fades between each other with out adapting the fade style you just transitioned from. It can be fun to play with, but gimmicky. Next is the sampler mode, which plays a mix of "Oh Yeah's, Air horns, space lasers, and some others. Again feels gimmicky and gets boring to use. The hand gesture controls are a bit difficult to use until you learn what each one does. You have a swipe left, swipe right, swipe down, swipe up, swipe in a forward circle motion, swipe in a rearward circle motion (Wax on, Wax off).. These features feel more for a kid to use during a party, and I can't see them being heavily used during an adult party. The last feature which also falls into that category is the Teiko Mode, which essentially turns the top buttons on system into a 4 piece drum machine and is difvided into 4 quadrants. It has like a bongo sound, snare sound, hi-hat sound, and a bass kick. Holding down the Teiko mode will activate a mini game you can play. It takes the 4 quadrants and kind of turns it into a simon says game where it will flash a color and the person with that color needs to hit their button pad as soon as the color comes up. Again, not something I can see playing much, but something kids might find fun. Overall, this is an excellent party machine sound system. and I give it 5 stars based on the features I did like and can see using and the overall sound quality, the loudness, and the cool 360 party lights. This system can also be party chained wirelessly with any other bluetooth speaker with party chain capabilities, or also has the option to be daisy chained with almost as many systems and you want with an audio in and audio out ports. It does include instructions on how to set all that up. I would highly recommend for any party hosters.
