Good looks, not so great performance

Bestbuy misadvertised this laptop. It is listed as P6670 processor. Since the system bus was advertised as 1066 Mhz i assume this is a new processor from intel. When i got the laptop, it clearly said T6670, which is a 800Mhz system bus. Right there my experience with this laptop went south. For a T6670 this is not the right price to pay. On the positive side, i like the fact that i comes with windows 7 professional and an XP pro downgrade. DVD drive is nice and quiet, and hard drive is also quiet. However too much bloatware and norton slow this thing to a crawl. I am not happy with the nvidia graphics. Too may sawtooth edges on angled lines and image quality is not great. Also, not great is when i connect to an external TV (like my 50in plasma), i cannot have a separate resolution for my TV and laptop display. Also, lipsync between audio and video is bad. I suspect the nvidia chip is notorious for overheating. That may be why the fan runs all the time, even when on battery. This is very annoying. I am sure in a few months, the fan is going to become noisy as it is so overworked.

    Great for Work

I really like this laptop. I have to write reports when I am on the road. So I really value the keyboard which is excellent - much better than my previous laptop which was a Dell. The display is clear enough for any use, but contrast is not as good as some laptops. I would get a different machine if I was going to use it primarily to watch movies. Note the display is a 14 inch. this size is gradually being replaced by larger size displays. But I like something that is not big But, I don't want a net book. Also the bluetooth mouse really works well. Lastly UBS ports and the power plug in are in places where they are unlikely to break if you move the computer around. This Vaio is elegant and utilitarian at the same time. Dave

Great balance between power and travel

Solid, professional performance that is very fast; classic look; love Windows 7; lighter than my previous toshiba, so makes it easier for travel and use on plane. This is a great balance of power/performance and convenience/portability. Only annoyance is a software bug that is not Sony's issue, and the keyboard requires you to press the function key and arrow key to page up, down, home an end. I will survive.

    Good Laptop

Good Laptop for home and office usage. As mentioned, it has good processor, graphics, faster RAM, and windows 7 professional (pre-loaded -- with XP downgrade disc). The only thing I hate is the audio output which is not at all of HD quality. My Dell Inspiron E1505(3 year old) has much better sound quality. SONY should really think(and act) about this!!!

    Good value for your money

NIce machine in comparison for the money you pay. The display size requires a lot of resolution adjusments on typical applications. It could use one more USB port. But overall it has anice performance for light daily business and home needs. You get what you pay for and it gets the job done.

had a gate way laptop before and this one is way better, but it is kind of heavy compare to the soney s series. every things worked will except that the start up and closing is kind of slow. other then that it's a great laptop. also it would have been nice if the price is not too high.
