The active noise canceling is about non-existent, and at the price point of $200 you would be better off trying something else. Sony should be ashamed of these at $200, if they were around $50 to $75 I could understand the price.

Thank you for purchasing the WH-CH710N. We regret to hear that headphones won't connect to your Sony TV and some other devices and that unit had to be returned. This is definitely not the shopping experience we want you to have. The headphones have two ways of connecting, first is by using A2DP Bluetooth profile which will let you connect to your A2DP compatible device wirelessly or by wired using the Headphone Cable jack. These headphones should work, if these devices that you wish to connect the headphones supports these connection.

They did not work (non-functioning)

In addition the controls were difficult to see . Had they operated the ratings would probably been higher. They were returned to the store the next day. Ended up purchasing another brand on next visit to the store.

Disappointing, hollow sounding headphones.

Maybe something is wrong with the pair I got, but they don’t block out any noise. If anything it echos and sounds like you’re listening in a cave. The headphones feel like cheap plastic and aren’t very comfortable to wear. Overall they are just very disappointing, and not on par with Sony’s usually excellent quality. I bought them for noise cancelling, which doesn’t work at all on the pair that I got. If I could take them back, I would. I wound up purchasing Bose Quietcomfort Earbuds, which have performed better than I could have hoped for.

The noise canceling function is effective in low frequency ranges such as airplanes, trains, offices, near air-conditioning, and is not as effective for higher frequencies, such as human voices.
Adjusting the headband and the earpads properly can help reduce discomfort while wearing the headphones. These headphones actually support super-soft, pressure-relieving earpads in foamed urethane evenly distribute pressure and increase ear/pad contact for a stable fit. When you are wearing the headset, depending on how you wear the headset, the effect of noise canceling may vary or a beeping sound (feedback) may be heard. In this case, take off the headset and put it on again.
