Exactly what I wanted - pure clean sound. Select your music, put these headphones on, close your eyes and you're right there. The Hi-Res let's you hear every music note. It's such a pleasure to hear how the music was meant to be and NOT colored.

These headphones were not in stock at our local store. So we paid for them and had them shipped to our home. We received them and were anxious to see how they would work. Well we were pleasantly surprised. They are perfect. The music is nice and clear, exactly what we wanted.

If you pair this sony headphone with a HD mp3 player, you will get an excellent combination. Remember if you want to have a very high grade audio enjoyment, then you have to purchase the same class of device to go with it. Or else you will wast your time and money

Good sound, but ear covers get a little uncomfortable after awhile. No volume control on headphones.

These were a good deal and that's why I purchased them. They sound much better than most headphones in the same price range.

I'm glad I am an LG smart phone user. This allows me to use the Hi-Fi Digital-Audio converter built into the phone to power these wonderful "wired" over the ears headphones. I don't have to worry about batteries hanging from my ears, needing charging all the time. Worth every penny.

Good quality headphone but don't think they will work out well on th airplane like the sales person said they would. If you are using for around the home, etc. they are a solid pair of headphones.

I'll keep this short as you can do much more extensive research around the Internet and get much better information from the experts. I love these headphones. They have replaced my Audio Technica M50X as my go-to closed back headphones. Sadly, my beloved AT's have been relegated to secondary TV headphones. My Sennheiser HD600s are still the gold standard for critical listening. Especially since they are open back and have an exceptional soundstage. However, when I don't want to fuss with my amp and reducing all ambient noise, (you hear everything while wearing the Sennheisers) I use the Sony's. One of my favorite aspects of these headphones is the build quality. They just feel premium. The joints are smooth, the earpads feel great, and they are very comfortable for long periods of time. They come with two cables but I only use the basic one. I never use headphones while I'm out and about so I have no need for an in-line mic. Again, as far as sound quality goes, I'll leave that to the golden eared individuals who can tell you much more than I can. However, I will say that I love listening to these. They're just fun. The bass is plentiful and punchy, without being over-exaggerated. The highs never seem to be too harsh. The sound is very enjoyable all around. I'm extremely glad that I purchased these and recommend them to anyone looking for a great set of over ear closed-back headphones.

Out of B&W P7, NAD, Audio-technica the Sony 1A were the best when it comes to comfort, bass balance and weight. Never got tired nor my ears hurt after three hours of straight listening- Pink Floyd, Sting, Jaco Pastorious, Tool, Puscifer, FFF, No one is Innocent, John Scofield, Iron Maiden, Sade etc. Perfect balance of treble, mid and bass. Especially listening to funk where there is a lot of "slap" bass, the Sony's shined over the other cans. This is only my personal opinion, my wife preferred the Audio-technica for their less bass sound, "more crisp sound" she said. So, there you have it.

The Sony MDR-1A's are some sleek looking headphones that bring you buttery smooth bass. They look great and feel great on your head because of how light they are. However there is always at least one quirk each headphone has and the 1A's is the fact that the left swivel joint creaks. On day 2 of owning these I had the creak pop-up and I lost my [s-word]. I just couldn't accept that these headphones have this audible build quality problem straight out of the box. If you can somehow live with that fact you'll like the MDR-1A's.

AwesOmega thin t.v. picture look good even without playing 4k content. Easy to inot all and setup.

These headphones have excellent sound for the money. The noise canceling is excellent. I have the previous version of these headphones. My problem with these headphones is that mine did not even last two years. Since they are out of warranty I had to send them out to be repaired. The repair bill was more than what the headphones cost. I took very good care of my headphones. In fact they still looked new, and I have never dropped them.
