A Must Have Portable Sound System

Bluetooth speakers have been on the market for some time now and I’ve sampled other brands of portable speakers (usually tethered via cable from the speaker to the device) which I wasn’t overly impressed and eventually, they ended up in the forgotten realm that is my storage closet. Then comes the Sony XB20 to which I was skeptical. Sure, being wireless is a plus but would it deliver with sound? I can admit that my skepticism is no more because the XB20 is AMAZING. Let me start with the most important feature; the sound. The sound quality is nothing short of clear and incredible! I synced my iPhone 7 with the device and played deadmau5 (a type of electronic dance music) on it and you can hear the deep bass and the clean digital beats of the tracks. Then I played the movies Doctor Strange and John Wick on my phone and the XB20 delivered movie theater quality sound. With the Extra Bass feature, the action sounds of guns and car crashing in John Wick really popped. This kind of sound is the kind of quality that I get from my Sound Bar that is connected to my television. This was something I had never experienced with the other brand of portable speakers I had tried in the past. The XB20 device is light but not too lightweight where the wind would blow it over when outside. On the top of the XB20, there is a control panel that consists of seven easy access buttons that control the volume, Extra Bass feature power, play/pause, adding more Bluetooth speakers and the speakerphone control. Using the SRS as a speaker phone proved itself to be very useful and efficient and will prove itself useful for those times outside in the backyard doing whatever. The range between the XB20 and my phone extended to about 40ft before the sound started to break up. The pulsating light feature that surrounds the speaker is a nice touch that adds ambiance to the music coming out of the XB20. The user has the option of changing the pulse from Rave, Chill, Strobe or Off via the SongPal app. The app is entirely optional and not required. Another feature that I look forward to trying out is the Party Chain feature where you can connect up to ten other Bluetooth speakers at once which is said to deliver a fun party vibe. I can also have peace of mind knowing that the XB20 is water resistant for those possible splashes at the poolside or someone spilling a drink. The Sony XB20 is a fun device that I’m ecstatic to own.

I am in love with this speaker. I took it on vacation with me and it was worth every penny. It was like I had my own stereo in my room. The sound was very clear, the volume goes very loud for the size of the speaker, and the battery life is 12 hours. My friend had the cheaper Sony speaker and the volume and sound quality was not even close. I highly recommend this speaker for anyone who doesn't want to fork out a ton of cash for a boss speaker, but still wants a good quality speaker. Not sure about the bass since my music has very little bass in it.

I bought the Sony SRS-XB20 bluetooth speaker because, in the store, it sounded excellent, even at high volumes. I think it sounded as good as the Bose speakers but costed less. It has a reasonable 12 hour battery life and you can pair up to 10 of them together. Two can be paired and used in "double" mode or stereo mode, with one acting as the right channel and the other acting as the left. Music is clear and crisp. Bass is deep and full, impressively so for the size of this speaker. I liked it so much I saw they had it on half price sale and I bought a second so now I can pair them and use them together. That works great! They do charge while playing though the charge light doesn't flash when that's happening. You can only check the battery level by holding a button and listening to the voice prompt. It will tell you though when it gets low. Paired speakers do not work with the aux in, only bluetooth. You can pair each speaker with 8 different devices at a time according to documentation online for it. I haven't tested that.

Bought this speaker to use while soaking in the tub or sitting outside in the yard. I didn’t want to spend a lot since it was only going to have occasional use. We already have 2 Bose SoundTouch speakers which we love and use all the time, but I was looking for something that was a little less expensive and didn’t need to be plugged in. This is a nice looking speaker (I wanted something that would kind of just disappear into the background) and it has unbelievable sound. The bass is great. It’s also very easy to control. I had thought I would have to give up sound quality going to a smaller speaker, but that is not the case.

I have several of the sony xb bluetooth speakers. I have 2 of the XB20's, 4 of the XB40s, and 2 of the XB60s. Each of these speakers sound amazing on their own but when you link them all together it will blow you away. I have always gotten them when they are on sale rather than regular price. The xb20s specifically sound really good for their size, they do have a bit of weight when comparing to the anker soundcore, but a much louder sound and cleaner. Bass is as expected for a speaker this size, if you want something portable with deeper and louder bass, go with the xb40s, or larger.

I saw this on sale at Best Buy while shopping for something else. I had been wanting a wireless portable speaker for the pool area. It was well recommended by Best Buy tech person. Holds charge for 24 hrs, depending on usage, it lasted all afternoon during a pool party. Can also be plugged in for charge during use. It has a mini subwoofer, and has a great, rich sound. It wasn't cheap but not overly expensive and worth the price. The smaller size, portability and great sound are perfect for pool area, picnics, camping, travel, etc.

I accidentally bought the little member of the new XtraBass Sony line, thinking that I had the right product i tested the SRSXB10 and was told that I should have gotten the next model which is the SRSXB20, return to the store and got the XB20, I must, confess that the difference is clear between both, The XB20 has the advertised mega bass, and its quality surpasses the XB10, but it does not mean the XB10 is bad, but compared the two and in my opinion the extra 40 dollars are worth it. Also I can use my cellphone to set some of the functions and it is immediately recognized. I like to use it at work, so it is water resistant, the plastic is coated with a rubber finish, and at night the power button and the bass are always illuminated, in case I don't use the extra bass, power button it is always illuminated. The lights have three settings or modes but I prefer to switch them off, and last, the sound is better than my JBL flip 3. I recommend it to anyone looking for acoustic sound and solid bass.

I bought this on sale during Black Friday for half the price. It's very useful, convenient, and easy to transport from place to place. It's small but the sound it produces is great! The bass is very powerful! It's easy to connect your phone with it, you don't need to download any apps to use it. For the price I got it, I'm very happy with this speaker!

This speaker has excellent sound for the price. Regular price was $99.99, I got it on sale for $49.99. If you’re looking for a small portable speaker and you don’t want to pay a bunch of money, I highly recommend this speaker.

This speaker is amazing especially for the price! It sounds loud and clear. It even has a light that goes with the beat of the music. In the store I tested it next to the more expensive speakers and it was clear that this one was the way to go. This is not a speaker to throw a whole party with but perfect for a little get together. I have even taken it to the beach. It is my new favorite device.

I was shopping for a Bluetooth speaker for my wife's birthday. My first criterion was sound quality. Among all the speakers on display, this was one of the better sounding ones, better than the Altec Lansings, but not as good as the JBLs. The bass boost makes a huge positive difference in the quality. Next I looked at was battery life. At 12 hours, it was above average of its peers. In terms of style, it was overly refined, as I was looking for something like the Altec Lansing's ruggedness, or the Jbl tube style, so this wouldn't have been my first choice in terms of style. The price at $99 was reasonable compared to the same styles of speakers. I could have bought the Insignia $50, but those weren't on display for me to listen to. Fortunately less than a week later, there was a sale, and I was able to price adjust it to $69, which gave the purchase even more value. My wife was very happy with it! It pairs easily to the phone and sounds great at soft or loud volumes.

I bought this to replace a similar-sized (but cheap-drugstore-quality brand: HDMX) Bluetooth speaker that didn't work well at all. The HDMX lost its mind every time it was turned off and needed to be re-paired with my laptop. Slow and annoying, also mediocre sound. This Sony automatically pairs up almost every time (with a Bluetooth glitch now and then). And the sound quality is amazing for a speaker this size! Plenty of bass, though not super LOW bass; crisp mids and highs, very good volume. Danceable! Fills an average-sized room. Battery life is good too, at least 6 to 8 hours. One minor downside is that for its size this speaker is surprisingly heavy, but that's because of the big speaker magnets and big battery; all good things. All in all a really excellent speaker for the size and price, but you'll really feel the weight in your backpack.

I'm glad I purchased this speaker. It is small enough that I can carry it with me from room to room, but is loud enough that I can easily hear it from across a large room. The sound it produces is natural, with both treble and bass being well represented. I often listen to audio books, and the bass is not overpowering as I found to be a problem with other portable speakers. I also like the "extra bass" option that allows me to increase the bass or keep it at a more moderate level depending on the type of audio I'm listening to. I haven't actually timed it, but I think I get more than the 10-12 hrs play time that is estimated from a single charge. And the unit is nice enough to give me a verbal warning when the battery is getting low and needs a charge. I don't care for the flashing lights around the case and find these distracting, but I just turn them off and enjoy the speaker.

I was looking for a Bluetooth speaker for use in my bed at night and got this after seeing the reviews on it. It's just the right size with a big sound. From treble to mid to base. Batterry longevity is good as advertised. Ease of use is okay, too. I did turn off the light. I have no use for it. I got it on sale for $70...I hope you get it at a better price.

Love this speaker. I bought this instead of the UE Boom 2 because it sounded more clear. The noise level is really good. The Super Bass feature is nice, although I wouldn't use it without it on (which begs the question why even include the button? just build it with it turned on all the time). The only complaint is that the app is kinda lacking. The UE app from what I hear lets you do a lot. Other than control the lights on the front of the XB20, you can't do much with the app. It has a built in music player, but I prefer my own music app. I wish the lights work with the beat of the music, but the strobe effect is more random. Highly recommended. I haven't tried seeing how long the battery lasts, but you can google that and find out from the plethora of professional reviews out there.

I walked into Best Buy and asked a sales agent which bluetooth speaker would make the best gift for my husband's Birthday. He said that this Sony speaker had very good customer feedback. My husband is hard to please, so even though this speaker was $20 to $30 dollars more than I expected to spend, I went with it. He raves about the quality, sound, and speed of this speaker!! It pairs quickly each time you turn it on and the sound is better than most stereo speakers we paid hundreds of dollars for. How can it sound so good and still last all day on a single charge?? Remarkable product, well engineered. He even used it at an auditorium dinner for background music since it was easier to use than the auditorium sound system. Will buy again for family Christmas present.

This thing is great. I bought it as a gift. When we first opened it, it had enough juice to try it out. It was super quick and easy to pair with the phone. Which is good cause we were in a hurry. The sound quality is great for the size. Much better than expected. The lighting on the front is a cool effect. It’s super easy to carry around. Light weight but still has a quality feel to it. The texture is nice also. Easy to grip. I like that you can pair multiple speakers together to have stereo sound. There isn’t too many portable speakers that can do that. All in all, this is a great little speaker for the buck. Best of all, I bought it at 50% off on Black Friday. Super happy with the purchase.

The Sony XB20 Bluetooth speaker is a very good edition to my home listening experience. I listen to it while cooking or eating in the kitchen and the sound is much better than the old JVC boom box in a fraction of the space that takes! I have enjoyed listening to mp3's and streaming internet radio from all over the globe! Makes every kind of music sound great! There's plenty of volume, enough to fill my entire house. The bass (low end) sound is clear and tight and so are the high notes! Definitely worth the upgrade from the Sony base model, which isn't in stereo - when I realized that the smaller Sony bluetooth wasn't stereo, I decided to get this one. I'm glad that I did!
