Awesome speaker. Sound quality and bass are very impressive. The only flaw is my unit doesn't tell me the battery percentage. It always says 70 percent. I exchanged in the store and another unit is doing the same thing. I think it's the whole batch is defective in that way. But the battery holds up pretty long its just you don't know when will it die. Not a deal breaker for me personally

This speaker sounds good for its size! It's perfect for taking to the garage, by the fire, and have even packed it on a motorcycle trip. I use the lights more than I thought I would! Great for small portable speaker.

I had previously purchased the smaller Sony XB30 Bluetooth speaker and just wasn't happy with the sound quality. I returned it and bought the XB40 instead. What a difference! The Bluetooth pairing is nearly immediate, the range is very good, and it plays for hours on a single charge. The sound is very good for a speaker of this size, with surprisingly good bass response. Moreover, it has onboard lighting that changes colors and pulses to the music, for a pretty impressive light show, especially outside at night or inside in a dimly lit room. I am saving my pennies to buy a second one to use outside on my deck for a more stereophonic sound, since you can link many of them together to increase the listening range or just surround yourself with great sound and colorful lights!

Very good speaker for an amazing price! I was going to go get a pulse 3 during Black Friday, but then this caught my eye! For the same price not being on sale, was insane to hear the quality difference!

I love my new speaker, wonderful sound. Love that you can connect more than one and each can have a set volume. Only thing I would change is to have an option to turn on/off the lights on the speaker.

It has great bass and wonderful light. It is easy to connect with iPhone through Bluetooth.

In the last century, I 'd experienced most of the famous brand name speakers like AR's, Sansui, Pioneer, Akai, JBL, Altec Lancing...in the profile of low (bass) frequencies. The only condition is: "The larger the speaker diameter produces the more low frequency responds" It's usually between 10" to 15". But, this time Sony XB40 might no longer follow that concept. I purchased this speaker from BB just because of its low priced Small Size Extra Bass.

I am a long time Bose fan and checked out a lot of different options when buying a portable speaker for my wife. This Sony speaker had many great reviews and it was on sale, so I figured I'd try it. My wife and I both are very happy with it. The sound quality is very good, including the Extra Bass option and the setup was super fast and easy. And she likes the option to have the lights going in sync with the music. Great product so far!

Works great for the money has a good beat with it. Also the lights are nice for a party.

Honestly if it wasn't for the sale price we got it on we probably wouldn't have bought it. Purchased as a gift for my father and it turned out GREAT. Quality is good and ease of use is great for someone who isn't very techy. Although pricey definitely worth taking a look at for some portable sound.

Better with more than 1 together but awesome by itself great base loud enough for everything
