This will be my last ever purchase of an unlocked Sony Phone. Call drops and I will receive voicemail late. I think the compatibility with carriers is a problem even if its unlocked.

My son was wowed by all the features of this phone and saved for months! Two months after getting it he dropped it and the screen shattered. Turns out that Sony does not have ANY repair centers in the entire USA! We have been trying to get it repaired for a month. The local shop has been unable to locate anything except a used white screen ( his phone is black.) It will cost over $150. This is a garbage phone and a terrible company! DO NOT WASTE YPUR MONEY ON THIS JUNK!

    Best phone since my Blackberry

Absolutely love this phone. My first non-Blackberry phone since 2007 and I have to say, this phone has made that transition very smooth. I did a lot of research for about a month looking at Samsung, Moto Z2 Force, Essential, and Pixel 2. Narrowed my choice down to Essential and Xperia XA1 Ultra basing my decision on specs for the price. Went to Best Buy to now do in person comparison. Looked at Essential first then Ultra. Quality of the hardware, screen and speed of the Ultra, imo, were superior. So I made my purchase and have been very happy. I was a little concerned about battery life since the XA1 Ultra is only 2700mhz and I keep my screen on brightest setting, but to my pleasant surprise, it lasts on average 15+ hrs. I've not completely killed the battery yet so not sure total hours. My only cons are, it doesn't get as good cellular service as my Blackberry did, but for a $300 device, I suppose that is to be expected. Call quality is fine. It's a little slow in the browser, but Chrome is faster than Firefox so could be app related. Anyway, I've had it a month and would definitely buy it again.

They sold me a returned phone. The package seal was broken and the phone had a screen protector on it. I wrote a review and Brian did not help me get a new phone. Basically said your loss.

I love that this phone has a button on the bottom right side to take a picture even if the phone is in locked position. The picture quality is almost as good as my Sony A6000 mirrorless camera. Battery life is great, much better than my Samsung. The best part is the volume button is on the right side of the phone. You are not constantly turning down the volume down with your thumb. You don't have to register the phone, just give Sony your IMEI number of the phone. Sony support if great. And the price was right!

I picked up this phone with the intention that it had a great camera and screen after seeing demonstrations, I get home with it and its phenomenal. I love it. I compared its speed, screen and camera with my dads Samsung galaxy 8 and it preformed noticeably better.

Been using this phone for a little more than a month now and have no regrets with this purchase. Crystal clear screen. Actually do not even have to put glasses on to see. This is a plus for me! Not a gamer and do not watch movies on this phone so I cannot comment on those. The camera takes beautiful pictures. The battery life for normal everyday use of talk and texting is great. Only have to charge every 3 to 4 days.

Fantastic price, but for the adware!

The screen is huge and speed is reasonable considering it is a Helio P20 processor, which is roughly equivalent to the mid-tier Snapdragon 625. It takes brilliant photos in full light, and decent photos in low light. Sound is a little low and the brightness is poor in daylight. The Sony program Launcher is slick and much more friendly on the eyes than Google's Launcher. Two stars removed for the built in What's New App which serves an advertisement to you twice a week. It CANNOT be uninstalled or blocked. Makes me wonder if Sony spied on my phone use? If price and screen size is more important than speed and privacy, this is the phone for you.

This is far better than the previous model of Xperia XA The camera takes nice and clear selfie pictures and its wide. Works with Tmobile LTE. Nice screen 6 inch size and lighter than the previous model. Highly recommended.

My last three phones have been top of their line Apple, LG and Samsung . This is the best phone I've had to date by a significant margin. No issues. The sales guy at Best Buy told me that this is the phone that most of their cell phone geeks pick for themselves. I was a little reluctant but with their return policy I decided to give it a try. Excellent phone.

I love this phone! The front and rear cameras are both great, it's fast and the battery life is very good. Plus, Sony has a ton of themes which makes personalizing your phone easy. I would definitely recommend this phone to a friend.

    Big screen, bloatware

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Speed and battery life is above par for a mid tier processor like the Snapdragon 635. The Sony launcher is easier to use than the Google Launcher. Photos are great in daylight and decent in low light. Two stars removed for bloatware like the What's New app. It feeds advertisements almost daily and cannot be disabled.
