    Screen Shattered After Minor Drop

I loved the phone, but the screen completely shattered after a minor drop. I have had about a dozen Sony phones, including the Sony Xperia Z, Z3 Compact and this Z5 Compact. Never have I cracked a screen. I'm sure it's the phone.

Another stellar Sony product. Water proof & dust proof. Glass front and back. 200+ giga bites of external memory, and with a built-in FM stereo radio, 23 mega pixel camera. and the best part of this product is the automatic system updates from Sony, already on Nougat 7.1.1, looking forward to Oreo.

I love Sony phones since I purchased my first one a few years ago. I was very excited to get this new version even tho I hadn't had my z1 compact long. I didn't know if there woukd be much difference with the phones released not too long from each other. Omg am I impressed with just how much more this phone can do! It's the same size but all white where the z1 had the little doors to open in silver. This version has one water tight door that houses the sim and SD card. The power button is located in the same spot but recessed so it doesn't get pushed accidentally. The battery lasts far longer. There came very few apps on the phone and it is super fast. The options and ability to work with more devices I was surprised to see as well. One neat little option in settings is an option to unlock the bootloader which normally you have to go through a hassle to get. Little extras like this are fantastic and I am so very very happy with my purchase! I haven't bought a SmartWatch yet altho I've had my eye on the Sony one of course. Apparently the 4 will b a great addition to this z5 compact so I can't wait to make that jump when it comes out because I know this phone will be amazing with it. The sound is fantastic! The z1 speakers were lacking compared to the past Sony phones I owned so I was hoping this phone woukd b better and it is amazing as a Sony be. Very much recommend this powerful beautiful phone that fits perfectly in ur pocket.

Chose the Compact for its size, wanted something that would fit in a pocket. If I had wanted a megascreen I could have gotten a tablet instead. Nice phone, solid feel, does everything it needs to do very well. A special mention for the excellent camera. Really good battery life too. This was my first Android, it's so much more intuitive than iOS and Windows Mobile. If I could wish for more, it would be dual SIM and that AT&T allowed me to make Wi-Fi calls. But all in all a phone I'm really happy with, just like I was with the good old Sony Ericsson phones in days long gone.

    Another Excellent Sony

For the last 8 years I've used - and loved - my Sony Ericsson W810i 'candy bar' phone, and only replaced it because its 2G network is being taken down by AT&T. Love Sony products, so I kept watching their phone models. I was not happy with 5 inch+ screens sizes, so looked for a 'compact' size; this Z5 is 4.6". Its specs are fantastic, including but not limited to: 4G LTE of course, latest Android OS available for it, 32GB memory (plus SDXC card availability - I added another 32GB card for all my video & pics), 4K video ability, better waterproof rating than currently highly-touted Galaxy S7 (http://www.trustedreviews.com/opinions/what-is-ip68-ip-ratings-explained), and a higher capacity battery than similar (even larger) phones. Unfortunately? it's not offered by AT&T or Verizon so I bought it outright, and because it's not a high-volume seller, finding a good protective case has taken some research. The best so far (OEAGO dual-layer) unfortunately screws up the flash, but I've got my 4th & 5th cases on order to test. I'm also happy with Sony's quick answers to my questions.

This phone has the best specs for its compact size factor. There may be better, big flagship phones out there but this is as good as it gets for a compact phone! Up to 200GB SD expansion slot allows plenty of photos, videos, and audiobooks for me. I really like Sony's GUI. More unique than generic Android and much cless clunky compared to Samsung's system. P.S. From trying a bunch of different phones, I feel like Sony phones have the best camera and true-to-color displays. This may not be a "premium" phone but the pictures turn out better than an iPhone 6S!

My brother had the old Z3 and already replaced the screen once but it needed replacing again(he's tough on equipment so the water resistant is mandatory), he decided it was time to get the new phone. He loves this newer phone and it takes great pictures and video. The phones isn't much different than the Z3 so he was able to pick up using it quickly. He only likes the Sony phones. Most small phones don't have very good specs but this does. I'm happy Best Buy matched the Amazon price.

If this phone didn't get so hot, and run out of battery so quickly, I would recommend it to anyone. I switched back to android with this phone and have loved the customization capabilities, and the overall sleekness of this phone. However, this phone was only less than a year old before it will die within 5 or 6 hours of minimal use. If i use this for 2 hours straight it will go from 100% to dead. There have been a few nights I charged it before a night out in the town, and it died before the end of the night so I couldn't call an uber. I also took this snowboarding and shut it off all day and left it in my jacket. But it was dead just from getting cold. BUT if you use it enough it will be so hot it can be a pocket warmer. Just inconveniences like that will be the main reason I will never go back to this phone. Time to upgrade to a Samsung...

Screen Not as Big As You Might Think

Previous phone was an Xperia Acro S 4.3" diagonal. I like the compact size of these phones but wanted a bit more screen size for viewing. Thus the Z5 Compact 4.6" diagonal sounded right on for me. But it offers no actual increase in usable size since the back, home, menu buttons are part of the 'display' whereas on the Acro S they are separate buttons not part of the display. The actual usable size for when web browsing or email is the same as on my Acro S. Only gain comes when viewing pictures or watching video in landscape mode then the back, home, menu buttons disappear. I'm going to be returning this (unopened), I came to the size realization looking at the display phone after my purchase. Going to get the regular Z5 (I wish Best Buy carried it).

Overall: love the phone and use it everyday. The good: battery life last for days. The bad: screen brightness. Not to bright at highest level. The worse: finger print scanner not available in US, but outside they can. Please be fair and allow all features anywhere you at. Lets not be fixed on a single market. Just saying.

It is a good product although it has its downsides. Despite saying in the description, it doesn't have the fingerprint sensor. The other downside is that it overheats too much.

Fast processor, great display, awesome battery life. 32gb is a good start, and up to 200gb sdhc expansion seals the deal. Was going to get an iPhone SE because I wanted a small phone that didn't suck. This one is better and less expensive out of the box. Can get warm while running heavy processes, so be forewarned, but that is the only downside I have found.
