I love the speaker. Sound is amazing! However it is clear that I paid for “Excellent”. There are several scuffs and scratches and when I recieved the unit it was missing the Aux cord and Power cord. So it clearly not an open box excellent. Disappointing. So beware. But the unit itself is great!!

Debated between this and the party box for a while. Ultimately settled on this for its ability to hook up to my tv and glad I did. Got a sound bar and a deck speaker! Only issue is the grill on the front was damaged when I opened it. Sounds better with the power cord plugged in.

Purchased two speaker for out family movie night. They paired together easy with the 4k Laser Projector. The speakers sound great for music and movies.

Bought it as a gift for the wife, she fell in love with it!! It’s a really good loud speaker. We’ve used it for all kinds of parties.

Purchased and missing remote as it said it came with it. Spoke to customer service with Best Buy and mentioned it would be mailed. I just noticed it’s passed the 30days to return it. Apparently it was a floor model but it was supposedly verified by geek squad with nothing missing. Not the case it was a lie or Best Buy said it didn’t come with a remote but it is listed and advertised as coming with one Sound is great but missing parts from Best Buy

Summary: This speaker is great for personal use and for group events. I tried it just listening to music around the house, hooked up to the TV in the TV Sound Booster setting, in a family outdoor party running off battery, and it excelled in every situation. Unboxing: First off, the speaker is huge and heavy. You might need to tear the box apart to remove it from its packaging. There is not much inside the box other than the power cable, speaker, and some basic documentation. Setup: Easy as can be! For bluetooth you simply hold the bluetooth button to pair. I did not see an NFC logo anywhere. The device also supports Android Fast Pair so you might simply see it pop up to connect when you set it up. For TV Sound Booster, you will need to plug it in via optical cable then set up your tv for “TV speakers and Optical” output. I recommend you also download the Sony Music Center app and Fiesta table app as part of your setup process. Sound: I was happy to see that the speaker supports LDAC for Android phones for high resolution audio output. I did not hear any massive differences between a regular MP3 or a high res file but it is good to know it is there. Most of my testing was using Apple Music Lossless streaming with LDAC. Testing the speaker with LoFi, Pop Punk, Pop, Classical and EDM, I was happy to see that this speaker will simply put a smile on your face with the amazing output. It is very heavy on the bass and loud, but you can tweak the audio via the Sound Center app for ClearAudio+, Mega Bass or a custom EQ. The six speakers work together very seamlessly with clear bass, clean voices, punchy details, and pending your Bass settings, an overall balanced output. I honestly left megabass off most of the time for home listening to balance it out a bit but for outdoors or large settings, megabass was welcome. For my outdoor event, the music was mainly 90’s hip hop and ranchero music. This speaker will easily fill any outdoor venue with sound. Be careful not to annoy the neighbors! I was never worried about weather as it is water resistant up to IPX4 (vertical) and IPX2 (horizontal). You can even have it out near a pool and feel ok with an occasional splash. I was surprised by how good it is to augment your TV with TV Sound Booster. Setup for this was easy but I realized you need to select both the “optical in” button and the “TV Sound Booster” button on the top of the unit or select it in the app for proper sound. The setting greatly tones down the bass so it doesn’t overpower the TV speakers but it greatly supplements it as a wonderful subwoofer and adds extra quality with the rear firing tweeters which fill the room with more detail than the TV alone can probably provide. The only downside to this I saw was it was somewhat identifiable what direction the speaker was in relation to the TV which was somewhat distracting. Extras: The speaker can provide power via USB to other devices. The battery runs FOREVER, our all day event barely put a dent in the battery level of the unit. The lighting is fun but not essential and you can turn it off. The kids like the lights. There are multiple inputs for optical, audio in, microphone, guitar, and settings to adjust those. I also suggest using battery care which limits charging to 90% since the battery will last a full day easily anyway. If you have any other Sony speakers that support the Party Connect Feature, you can connect them all together and have speakers everywhere. Apps: The Music Center app is very useful for overall control. It is a hub for any audio apps you might have installed too which is a bit redundant I felt. You should be able to conduct any firmware updates through the app as well if needed (none were available at time of writing). The fiesta table app is fun but a bit trivial in my opinion unless you are having house parties often. The app allows you to control the lighting of the device in an interactive way and also create party playlists that people can contribute to.

I have used a few different smaller Bluetooth speakers over the years, and never felt like I needed anything more than those offered. That is until I got this monster. I never knew what I was missing from the sound of my music and the punch of the bass. This XV800 is one of the coolest pieces of sound equipment I have ever owned, it really is party time when you turn it on and start listening. It is very capable with several options from Bluetooth to 3.5mm inputs to phono inputs and even an optical input for TV use. You can plug in your guitar and use this as an amplifier, or run a karaoke party via the Sony Fiestable app, and then use it for massive TV sound later on. The Fiestable app is lackluster but provides a few options for karaoke in particular. The Sony Music Center app is where you can get more in depth on the speaker’s settings and see battery life etc so that’s where most of the useful features are. My first impression upon opening the box is that it is very large and very heavy. You can immediately tell that it will pack a punch just based on how massive it is. Thankfully it has a handle and little wheels so you can cart it around that way instead of having to carry it all the time. Part of the weight it surely due to the impressive battery life advertised at over 24 hours. It had 80% charge right out of the box and after spending over 6 hours listening to music on it at 50% volume which is really loud it is still reporting 60% remaining so I have no doubt 24 hours is indeed possible. And 50% of total volume is already a party so it seems to be able to produce an insane amount of sound as well. All my music sounds incredible, with plenty of tone and bass to go around and no distortion of any kind. I can walk away from it throughout my house without losing any signal strength on Bluetooth, everything continues loud and clear from my iPhone 14 pro max even upwards of 30 feet away. I love the RGB lights on either side that will shift and change depending on what’s playing creating a fun atmosphere while you listen. You can turn those off via the controls on the top of the unit as well as volume and changing inputs. All the inputs and power are in the back under a cover that allows it an IPX4 water resistance rating for poolside or camping use meaning it can get splashed or rained on with no problems just not submerged. It has rubberized feet on the bottom and one side so it can be turned on the side or standing upright and the feet keep it from vibrating against whatever surface it’s sitting on. Being able to turn it sideways is a good option for using the optical input, but it is still very large in that setting so it may not be the best option for everyone. It sounds really good plugged into a TV, but it is not a Dolby soundbar so compared to something like that it is best used for that purpose in a pinch rather than planning on making a habit of it. This speaker is a modern day boombox, and it creates phenomenal sound and a great atmosphere with the lighting effects that you can bring just about anywhere and enjoy with your friends or family. It has impressive battery life, takes a charge relatively quickly, and has made me a believer in this type of speaker. You really do get so much more clarity and power with something of this magnitude compared with the little handheld speakers on the market. I highly recommend it.

XV800 X-Series Bluetooth® Party Speaker Summary: Quality build with stunning sound. Pros: * Build quality is impeccable. The unit has a solid frame that makes toting it around easier (for its weight). * Sleek looking. This unit could sit out in a corner or somewhere visible when not in use and it would look great. While in use, this unit lights up and looks great. * Capacitive touch controls work flawlessly. No membranes or mechanical buttons mean one less thing to wear. * Controls are center placed and all important functions are easily available. * Connectivity options are great for this unit. They and their controls are nestled behind the unit and protected by a well-fitted rubber hatch. * SOUND QUALITY is simply stunning. This unit delivers crisp notes and resoundingly deep bass in true Sony form. * Mobility is great. It isn't easy to bump this unit and shift position. You need to properly angle the unit for the wheels to kick in. The big battery means you can get hours and hours (a day) of use without having to move it around to recharge. * Power Distribution. This unit offers a USB port (5V/1.5A) to charge a portable device. * Optical-in allows a TV to be connected. The audio quality rivals my home theatre system for presence. It can't compete directly, though, as my HT is Dolby Atmos and the form factor of the XV800 means that it isn't the best fit for my living room (all of my A/V equipment and cables are wall mounted, routed through, or concealed behind the TV wall). * This unit is water resistant, so it can handle a light splash - great if a rain storm moves in out of now where. Just don't leave it out or throw it into a pool. Cons: * Not really a con, but it could be for some: this unit is heavier than you might expect! To support run times like this unit and charging capabilities, it needs a battery. Those are heavy. * Table/phone slat for karaoke could be wider. I have a 10" iPad Pro that I don't use much and it would have been perfect for this use, but it doesn't easily fit in the slat without angling. It should just run the entire unit width to accommodate any width tablet AND make the slat easier to clean should debris get inside. * I do wish I didn't have to use the Sony Music app to stream music. You can use the speaker in Bluetooth mode just fine. But I hoped for functionality similar to competing products where I can connect directly to the speaker from apps such as Spotify (not via Bluetooth). * A USB-C charging port would have been a great addition as it is the standard of the future. * Though the built-in lighting is cool, its more of a gimmick. It could use more lights and/or brighter ones if this was intended to be a main feature (I don't think it is and don't really care about it). But if you have those color-changing seat cubes, this is a great addition to a party. Use: We've used the unit to jam out when we want whole house music. While we do have a few "connected speakers" from rivals scattered throughout the house, their audio is still somewhat localized. This speaker manages to fill the whole (4-story) home. We can't wait to try out the karaoke but need to order some microphones. I'm pretty sure a neighbor will complain when we bring up to the sky deck and entertain - it has such power, we're still taken aback by it. MY FAMILY LOVES IT. If you are mobile and entertain a lot, this unit is a great buy and I absolutely recommend it.

I've been a big fan of Sony speakers whether it be earbuds, headphones as well as these Bluetooth speakers. I have the SRSXG500 model speaker and really liked that one. It was a little bit on the larger portable side however the sound from it was superb. Of the features that Sony offers with their speakers, the BIGGEST one I've been a fan of is their Super Bass. In all the speakers and headphones/earbuds I have, the Super Bass feature really stands out for me since it delivers quite the punch when listening to music. Since they have that feature in this speaker, I kind of expected it to be on par with all their other speakers. This one is quite large to say the least. It's almost 2 feet tall and weighs around 40 pounds so it's not something you'll move often however it is portable. It has wheels on it so you can roll it around wherever you need to. There are also handles on this so you can easily pick it up as well. The RGB lighting on this is a nice touch. It's not too flashy however it is noticeable and just looks good when it's on. Sound wise, it's what I expected from a Sony speaker. This being a larger unit, it can get plenty loud for your house party or for whatever you need this speaker for. It's omni directional speakers so it works well whichever direction it's facing however, I find that it's better suited if the listeners are in front of the speakers. There are 2 tweeters on the back handle that work well enough. The Super Bass on this is fantastic. I listen to EDM music primarily and each bass thump rings through great on this speaker. It's loud however it doesn't get too muddy in the high/mid ranges which is great. You can hook this speaker up to your guitar, TV, bluetooth and pretty much whatever else you want. There are I/O ports for in the back to hook everything up. There is optical input, USB as well as hook ups for your guitar. There is a companion app for this to sync your music as well as control RGB lighting however, I have an iPhone and it's really simpler to connect to it via Bluetooth and use the music app. Overall, this is a great speaker for your place. It's quite multi-functional in terms of what you hook up to it and how to use it. It's a tad on the heavy side however the sound output from this is really sweet.
