    Sacrificed looks for sound quality

This review is based on my experiences with other similarly priced headphones at comparable price ranges ($10-$40). First off, for only $20, I wasn't expecting these headphones to completely blow my mind. And they didn't, but perhaps it's just because I have too high of expectations for sound quality. These headphones instantly caught my eye at the store with their sleek, milk-white color, urban feel, and attractive price. After reading several positive reviews from many different websites, I decided to give this product a try. They seemed like they would produce a satisfactory sound just from the looks. However, for on-the-ear headphones, the bass was seriously lacking. With drivers larger than most regular headphones, I would think there would be a little more bass response from the music. Nevertheless, the sound remains tinny and flat (like the headphones included with an iPhone or iPod) even when using the "Bass Booster" EQ on my iPhone. Volume levels were also pretty low, which isn't much of an issue for me since I don't listen to my music very loud. Yet, I was able to turn my iPhone's volume all the way up, though, and still feel a somewhat lacking audible level. As for comfort, I only wore these for about ten minutes (while testing their sound quality), but they were perfect on the comfort scale for me: not too tight, not too loose, soft on the ears, easily adjustable, and very lightweight. There really wasn't anything amazing about these headphones that didn't keep me from returning them and purchasing something different. I took them back to Best Buy and instead bought some IN-ear Altec headphones (that literally crush these in sound quality and bass reproduction- and they're the exact same price). I am very satisfied with my decision to do this. I was really disappointed in these headphones because the sound quality wasn't anywhere near what I had preferred, plus I haven't found any other headphones that look this stylish and sleek, for such a great price! Overall: If you want a cheap pair of headphones for less than $25, are okay with mediocre sound quality, and want them to look similar to more expensive headphones (ex. Beats by Dr. Dre), these are for you. However, these are not for audiophiles searching for a pair of headphones with good bass response and better-than-average sound quality at low low price (like me). They simply won't cut it. Hope this helps.

I walk to work and for most places around town so I like to listen to my iPod. I tried serveral earbud style headphones (including one that cost $50) and couldn't find a decent pair. I could either barely even hear them or the sound quality was just so horrible that I'd rather listen to the traffic going by. I really liked my studio headphone (and still do at home), but their large size got kind of awkward. I saw these for $15 and I figure what the heck. I was plesently surprised with how decent they are. They still don't sound very good when compaired to studio headphones, but they are great for the size and especially price. Both high and low ends don't sound that great, but very good for the price. I would recommend chekcing these out if you use them for walking and are sick and tired of earbuds like I was. If you plan to use them at home (size isn't an issue) pay a little more and you can do a lot better.

First I'll start with the good things. These headphones are light and easy to carry around because of their folding capabilities. The design is sleek and contemporary. The sound is loud and has strong bass. However, there we also many things I didn't like about them. First of all, they are uncomfortable for multiple reasons. The cups do not have good cushioning and also the headband is not padded. I wouldn't wear them for over 15 minutes. The treble and mid ranges aren't anything to write home about either. Overall, I'm going to be returning them and getting a pair of Sennheiser HD 419s. They are alright for the price and the sound is good, but the comfort is really the deal breaker here. I wouldn't recommend these if you are planning to wear them for extended periods. If your looking for comforatable headphones in this price range, go for the Monoprice 8323.

Bought these for my younger son, who was using ear buds but either twisted every pair into a bird's nest or chewed the ear caps off of them. All of a sudden, he had a good pair of not-so-expensive over the ear headphones that rocked a good brand name, had comfortable ear caps, and sounded somewhat decent (not that a 10 year old knows what decent is...). The upside is, in the age of $200 Beats headsets, he feels cool with over-ear headphones and I'm only $10 poorer after catching a pre-Christmas sale. They sound not-that-bad for what was spent, have flexible rotating ear caps that will hopefully roll with his 10 year old ability to snap things, and even if they only last a few months, he looks great, the sound is great for him, and I won't miss a beat if he breaks them.

Got these for my wife to replace her worn-out head set and she loved them. They were so inexpensive that I bought a pair for myself as well, intending to use them for travel. I was impressed by the sound quality; they sounded better than many more pricey headphones I'd tried in the past. However they felt VERY uncomfortable after wearing them for longer than about 15 minutes. The headband has no padding and hurt pressing down on my head; the ear pads felt tight and the foam made my ears quite hot. I applied some weatherstripping foam to the inside of the headband to pad it; that helped on top. But I haven't be able to make the ear pads more comfortable. Too bad because the sound quality and noise isolation is very good.

the last pair of headphones I had were also sony and they were great. I was expecting the same quality if not better. while these headphones are not studio quality, they did their job adequately. Build quality was on par with more expense versions. Style was good as well. My main gripe with this model is the cord length. Its just to blasted short. most run of the mill headphones have a 6 foot cord. this model, however, is only 4. While that may work for a mobile device, it's just not practical for any other use. I guess I need to look more closely the next time I purchase.

As a DJ, headphones are one of my most important tools. After forgetting my primary set at home one night and forced myself to use some earbuds I just so happened to find in my cable trunk, I decided to buy a full size set of backup headphones, just in case. Just after purchasing them, I decide to give these a listen at home (they didn't have a demo set at the store) and was not impressed by the sound quality at all (I'm VERY picky about audio though...), then I remembered how much I paid for these. One of the drivers buzzes really ugly with songs that are bass heavy (a minor concern). Overall, meh. I wasn't expecting these to be the most perfect headphones out there, and I wasn't let down in that aspect.

the only reason this product doesn't get 4 stars is because my ears hurt every time I take the headphones off. Maybe my head is too big, but I think these headphones run a little small. beware: large-headed music lovers! And, at the same time, it falls off my head very easily. Beware, soft-haired music lovers! The music quality is solid, not exceptional. Don't expect sennheisser quality from SONY, but expect your money's worth. Outside sound will leak in. Don't be stupid, don't step on the jack, the jack will break. Don't be stupid, don't leave your headphones on the floor. they come in black and white, stylish for your iphone fancies! With proper care, these headphones will last about two years.

These sound very good for the money. There are not many over-ear to choose from among the non-junk. I tend to gravitate toward SONY products as I have had great luck with them...so I gave these a try specifically for a flight to FL. They were comfortable for long term use, the sound was good, but they dont serve for much in the way of noise-cancelling. The cord is great. Did not tangle once. Overall, I would recommend them, but I have not tried any others in this price range in comparison.

nothing special. I saw that over the ears were making a come back. So i decided to get some. I am listening to to Linkin Park on pandora right now as i write and the bass is lost. I have been listening for about 25 minutes and my ears are hot. The Sound.UGHHHH! You know how some people are Apple. I am a Sony. I've owned Sony CDMAN,DVD,TV, mobile phone,PS3,PSP, numerous headphones and earphones and I writing on my Sony Vaio. Sony you dinged my heart with this one!

These are very good, as long as good comfort for more than maybe 5-10 is a priority to you. I got these as school headphones, and I am constantly adjusting them because I can't find the right fit. I also don't like the way the cord splits, I think that all headphones that have a thing that goes over/around your head should have one wire, and not split for each side. Also, I have to turn up the volume to be able to hear them in a noisy hallway, and maybe it's just my imagination, but they seem to amplify outside noise.

For $20, I was not expecting much, but for a product boasting 30mm "high-energy neodymium drivers to reproduce clear midrange and low-end sound", they fall short of the mark. While these do a decent job reproducing mid-high frequencies, any sense of bass is lacking. To my ears, Apple's freebie EarPods easily out do these in overall performance. These were however pretty comfortable, but their rotating cup design is annoying for anything other than storage. If you listen to primarily podcasts or talking, these could be great headphones.

I bought these headphones for daughter to use when watching videos on my ipad. When my daily headphones shorted out I used them for a week. These headphones are OK, the bass isn't the best, and voices are low when listening to a podcast or audio book. The ear phones look good and are very comfortable. During the week I used them they began to short out a little on the right side. So overall these are an average pair headphones and are good for the price.

I purchased the Sony noise cancellation headphones for 2.5x more price just before purchasing these. I did like the cancellation feature, clear treble, only almost no bass, and noise cancellation required use of battery. These were just for me, with really good treble/bass distinction, short cord since it's for portable device (not recommend for receiver connection since I believe it has less than 40mm drivers). Comfortable and folds slightly for travel. For $20 not a bad deal or great for kids.

I bought this for my kid to replace his other more expensive Sony headphones, I find the sound good, but he says it is not that good (of course he is comparing it to his previous one). He uses it every day and so far I haven't heard any complaint to buy a new pair of headphones, so it should be ok. I was lucky to find this item as a deal of the day, I ordered it and it was backordered but surprisingly it was available to pick up in store sooner that what it was initially estimated.

these headphones provide average sound quality. they provide very little bass sounds. I use these headphones with my tablet and they provide average sound quality for listening to YouTube videos and TV shows. I do not recommend these headphones for listening to music because of the lack of bass sounds. I tried using these headphones with my tablet on an airplane flight and there was too much ambient noise so I do not recommend these headphones for use on airplane flights.

If you're looking for headphones, simply for audio purposes then go ahead and purchase these. They're inexpensive and sturdy compared to others. the cord is rather short apprx 3-4 feet. You won't get an amazing experience with music, just plain stereo quality. In no way do they compare to expensive ones like BOSE or BEATS, but again , they are inexpensive I purchased them just to hear sound from my pc without waking up the kids and for that purpose it is just fine.

I initially wanted a pair of headphones that were good to listen to music, and these did just that... However, I also needed headphones for my iPod for when I go running and to the gym. These headphones sounded good, however not too loud. I ended up changing them within 3 days for some over-the-ear earbuds from sony which in my opinion, sound much better and fit my needs. If you are looking for headphone though I would recommend giving these a second look.

Wow, the reviewers giving these headphones anything over 3 stars in Sound quality have gone complete mental! Sony always makes reliable headphones. For $20 you will have a pair of headphones that will last you a long time and sleek looking. However, sound quality isn't the best at all. Lack of Bass and Highs. They are somewhat comfortable. Overall, save a few more $$ to get something better.

My wife is a medical Transcriptionist and needed a new pair of headphones to use for hours everyday and she hates the in the ear kind. I would have gotten more expensive ones but she didn't want me to buy any, so I got this pair because they were fairly cheap but durable. She uses them to hear talking, these are fine for that and probably ok for music. I would like to get more expensive ones next time, but overall these are not bad.
