A year in the life of a high school band

Typically precise and detailed Japanese animation. The story is relationships among the students in a high school band absorbing new freshmen while competing in marching and concert band competitions. Growing, developing and exploring interpersonal relationships among teenagers (mostly girls) within the band is the movie’s theme. The script writers did a magnificent job of the band context, however. Anyone who has participated in high school band and their parents will recognize marching and concert competitions as well as finding odd corners of the school for sectional rehearsals. Even band camp with graduates returning to help (one of whom was inevitably one of the more eccentric drummers) is included. The number played in concert competition at the end of the movie is actually interesting and performed very well.

While suffering from pacing issues and missing the huge dramatic beats of the prequel series it’s based off of, Sound! Euphonium - Our Promise: A Brand New Day is an overall satisfying continuation that fans are sure to enjoy.

Well animated as always and a great story. I wasn't a fan of the romance subplot, but overall I loved the movie and watching Kumiko grow more!
