More comfortable than the upgrade, worked better than the upgrade, but the right one quit working so I had to trade for the upgrade. I paid the difference ($30) and hear no difference (maybe worse) but the upgrade doesn't get stuck in my hair.

Overall satisfied with the earbuds. Touch response is inconsistent. Doesn’t respond so well at first. There are enough options for ear cushions for best fitting. Sound quality is good but strictly use for audio books, so not sure about range for music.

The Soundcore Life Dot 2 XR provides excellent sound and ok ANC performance at a reasonable price. As an Anker brand, you’ll find a similar level of build quality and performance as their other products, which is a very good thing. The earbuds and case feel well built and feature IPX5 water resistance, 7 hours of playtime for the earbuds, 35 hours of charge time in the case, USB-C charging, and an easy to use Soundcore app to program everything. Soundcore also provides 4 different sizes of ear tips and 3 sizes of ear tabs to help ensure a comfortable and secure fit. These are probably the most comfortable earbuds I’ve had so far, and the tabs work surprisingly well to secure them in my ear. I can honestly shake my head or go running without worrying about these falling out or feeling loose, which is remarkable. So how do they sound? Let’s begin…
SOUND
From a sound quality standpoint, these earbuds rock. At most volumes, the mids are clear, the treble is smooth, and the bass is strong. From the droning bass lines in “Hip-Hop” by Dead Prez, to the uptempo rhythm of “Sure Thing” by Miguel, the Dot 2 XR holds up well and should please most people no matter their genre. However, as you approach really high volume levels, the bass begins to get sloppy and the sound loses composure. I won’t really knock it for this though, because it only seems to happen at levels that aren’t safe to use anyway (and this is coming from someone who likes his music loud). That said, the Soundcore app features a customizable 8 band EQ to tune the sound to your liking.
ANC
The Life Dot 2 XR gets a lot right, but the Active Noise Reduction is where it falls short. Activated and programmable through the Soundcore app, the ANC features 3 different noise cancelling modes (Transport, Indoor, Outdoor), 2 Transparency modes (Full, Vocal), and a Normal mode that turns off all processing. I actually love this kind of differentiation and wish it was offered in my other ANC headphones, because most of the time I do just want to block certain sounds while letting other types go through. For example, the Vocal Transparency mode lets you hear your surroundings while also specifically boosting vocals. That is awesome. Same with the different noise cancelling modes, which blocks certain frequencies depending on your chosen environment mode. In theory, these are all great features, but the main problem is that they’re almost useless when playing music. For ANC modes, that’s not much of an issue, but in Transparency mode, which is supposed to let you hear your surroundings, whatever you’re playing drowns out any other surround sound. There’s been a bunch of times that I had it in either Full or Voice Transparency mode and found out someone has been right behind me calling my name, and I never once heard them. This is unacceptable to me as it makes the Transparency mode essentially worthless, but it’s also fixable with a firmware update, which I hope Soundcore puts out soon. It would be nice to have a fader to adjust how much sound we want to “leak” through, or at least have the volume of surroundings increase in relation to the music. In terms of the ANC modes, they work great if you’re playing something, but will not offer total silence if nothing is on. Most all ANC headphones have this issue though, even the high end ones that cost 3 times more, so I won’t knock it for that.
FUNCTION
Controlling and programming the Life Dot 2 XR happens either through the touch sensors on each earbud, or the Soundcore app. I generally don’t like touch sensors on earbuds, but they work well here and I haven’t had many issues with it not reading my finger taps. Thankfully, connecting the earbuds to your phone and app are super simple and includes nicely illustrated instructions if needed. After setting it up for the first time, reconnecting with your phone is essentially automatic, because all you have to do is take them out of the case and put them in your ears. Same with disconnecting too, which makes these convenient for anyone to use, especially less tech savvy folks. My only gripe here is that, while you can customize the touch controls for the headphones, it’s not really good for volume control, so I have to use my phone to adjust the volume instead. Not that you can’t program it for volume control, but what happens is that doing it through the earbud controls creates a chime, then a pause in music and an incremental change in volume. Meaning it’s impossible to quickly change volumes through the earbud controls. This was odd to me, because I don’t think I’ve ever had bluetooth headphones that made it difficult to change the volume quickly, and I’ve gone through a lot. That said, it’s entirely fixable with a firmware update, which I hope they do, because for me it ruins what’s an otherwise excellent pair of earbuds.
OVERALL
The Soundcore Life Dot 2 XR are excellent sounding earbuds at a good price, with a couple fixable flaws that could make them great. I especially love how comfortable and secure they are in my ears, because I’m not constantly worried about them falling out. The variety of ANC modes is a great concept, and aside from my disappointment with the Transparency mode and volume controls (which are fixable), they offer a lot to like and are only a firmware update from turning good to great.

It is working great with my android phone. It was very easy to connect. The sound quality is also very good. For the noise cancellation, I tried to enable it, but I did not feel difference. I am not sure I could successfully enable it or not.

This earbuds sound very good; clear sound, good bass, and treble. These earbuds do not get five stars for two reasons; the touch controls are hit or miss. I find myself having to constantly double tap to pause and start a track, video, etc. and it can be annoying if I'm not near my phone. The second reason is that the large ear wings are a tad to small and doesn't "lock" in my ear properly. During a run, I sometimes have to readjust because I can feel the earbuds slipping. I bought these full price at $99. They ae starting to go on sale a lot and if you can catch during that time I would suggest you get them, but be prepared to deal with those two issues.

Great sound, love that I can personalize the equalizer. The included ear wings are fantastic they hold the ear buds firmly in place The ambient sound feature works great, I clean my brother in law’s dental office and the vacuum is extremely loud, I set my ear buds on noise reduction and it reduces the sound so much.
I highly recommend these, well worth the price

These ear buds are my first pair of buds. Therefore, I gave 3 stars because without having heard other buds from the many other brands & models on the market, I really don't know where these rank. Nevertheless, music sounds good on these buds and when getting a phone call while wearing these buds, the callers voice is loud & clear. I bought these buds during a one day flash sale at Best Buy for less than $60, and for the overall quality and features these buds offer, I consider these buds a great purchase!
