    An Impressive Device

When I first saw the Soundcore Sleep A20 Bluetooth Earbuds, I was instantly intrigued. My wife snores, and sometimes rather loudly. She snores loudly enough where she wakes me up from a sound sleep. I’ve been reading articles about ‘sleep divorces’, where one sleep partner spends the night in a separate room or location, but we’re hoping not to have to go that route. I sometimes slept wearing noise canceling headphones, but that has not been a practical solution as they are not comfortable to wear while sleeping. I really hoped this device would be the answer to our problem. Upon opening the package, I was genuinely impressed with the contents. There were the earbuds, the charging/storage case and an impressive amount of accessories, including different sized ear wings, and ear tips. Soundcore went to great lengths to ensure a proper fit for everyone. Fortunately, the pre-installed ear wings and tips fit perfectly. Once I inserted them in my ears, they stayed in all night and were comfortable to wear while sleeping on my side. The real star of these earbuds is the accompanying app. The app allows you to select, and even combine sleep sounds, including two sleep sounds dedicated to blocking out snoring. You can also select various noise settings: white noise, brown noise, pink noise, nature sounds, etc. Whichever sounds appeal to you, there are several possibilities. Can’t find one that’s quite right? The app allows you to create your own. The app also monitors your sleep patterns and allows you to set timers to turn off the earbuds after a predetermined amount of time. The sleep timer is nice, but not when the earbuds turn off but your sleep partner does not. In my experience, when my wife starts snoring (at what I call Level 3), she supersedes the efficacy of the earbuds. With a simple tap or two I can raise the volume of the buds. Which creates a new conundrum; now it’s the noise level of the earbuds themselves that are keeping me awake. That brings me to another concern: I suffer from mild tinnitus, and after wearing the earbuds during the night, my ears are ringing like crazy after I take them out, even when the volume is not set very high. I think that’s a personal issue and not because of the earbuds directly. These Soundcore A20 earbuds present an impressive package overall. I can see them being quite effective for many people. Because I suffer from mild tinnitus, unfortunately, this product is not right for me, but I highly recommend it for everyone else. Also, if my wife reads this review, I’ll swear I didn’t write it. Sleeping on the couch would actually solve the problem, but not in a good way…

Side-Sleepers can finally rest in peace!

The Soundcore A20 earbuds by Anker are designed to help you sleep better with calming sounds and/or noises. The A20 earbuds offer plenty of customizability, both in terms of fit and sound options. There are plenty of different options to make the earbuds fit in someone’s ears. The ear tips are available in two styles: sealed and breathable. The sealed ear tips come in 4 sizes and offer a physical form of noise blocking. The breathable ear tips come in 3 sizes and offer no noise blocking but more airflow, so you might prefer these if you’re using them during the day and you’re frequently moving your jaw (eating or talking). I would recommend the sealed ear tips at night, if background noise is what’s causing your headaches. I live in a neighborhood close to train tracks, that’s on the helicopter path for my local police department and I have a senior with tinnitus watching television on the second floor at two in the morning. Did I mention the random car alarms going off at 1:30 AM and the loud AC going on and off? Safe to say, I have trouble falling and staying asleep at night, because I live life on hard. I’m also a side-sleeper and can’t really sleep without sleeping on my left side. I’ve slept that way my whole life, so why change now? Luckily, the A20 earbuds are designed for side-sleepers in mind and they do feel comfortable in my ears while I’m sleeping on the side. The only issue is that the left earbud did fall out a few times while sleeping, even after adjusting to the largest sized ear tip. I also switched to the large ear wing, which seemed to keep it in place better, especially after twisting it properly (see quick guide for illustration). The easiest way to get the most out of these earbuds is by downloading the app for your smartphone. It makes it very easy to choose settings, sounds and noises, including customizable combinations of noises and sounds. The only limitation here is that on “sleep” mode, which is required to have the noise running continuously, you can only transfer and store 4 sounds at a time. There are many options so I recommend listening to them before you go to sleep and prepare everything beforehand. My favorite is the mid frequency noise, because it makes it hard to hear the AC turning on and off, the TV upstairs and the train running by. I set the volume in the app somewhere between 20% and 30%, which is just enough to cover up the sounds without bothering me. I personally didn’t find the bonfire or rain sounds relaxing, and anything with music doesn’t block enough noise for my loud American suburb sleep environment. I do enjoy the production quality though, so I may use those in the future for a quick nap. Alternatively, you can pick and choose the noises you want to hear, and create your own noise mix. This might be your favorite choice, if the factory presets don’t do the job. There’s an option to have the noise turn off after a set period, so I set it for 2 hours, but the few times I woke up at night or in the early morning, the sound was still there, so maybe it restarts when it detects movement. The A20 earbuds do not have active noise canceling, unlike some headsets and earbuds on the market, so it relies entirely on physical noise blocking with the twin-seal ear tips and playing the noise of your choice. The quick guide included relies on illustrations, not text, to explain how to set it up. I’m still not quite sure what it means by TWS and MONO, and it claims that I can adjust the volume by tapping 3 times, but I wasn’t successful at making those adjustments. Instead, it would switch between Music/Sleep Mode and Bluetooth Mode, which is 2 taps. The quick guide also made it confusing how to pair with a smartphone. The picture shows pairing having to do with opening the case, but it took a few tries to make my smartphone see it. There is a better manual online, if you need clearer explanations by the manufacturer. I want to mention that when I first tested these earbuds out at 5 in the afternoon, the noise blocking and relaxing noises knocked me out for about 10 mins right away, when I didn’t intend to sleep, so yes, it works! After using the earbuds for 4 nights, I find them to be a nice addition to my beauty sleep arsenal. They’ve earned a permanent place on my nightstand, and I can’t wait to try them out while flying long distance!

Small comfortable sleep earbuds with great battery

These are very good sleep earbuds with many comfort options. Fitment options The earbuds come with multiple sized tips and ear wings, so I was able to find the fit that worked the best for me. The package contains xtra-small, small, medium (preinstalled) and large sealed ear tips for noise blocking, but also contains small, medium and large breathable tips for more air flow, but do not offer any noise blocking. There are also 3 available options for ear wings to help keep the earbuds securely in place. Comfort The ear tip and wing materials are soft and pliable and the buds themselves are small enough that I am able to comfortably sleep on my side without discomfort. Noise-canceling The noise-canceling is passive so the earbuds do not block very much sound, but when paired with the app and using the ambient noises or your own music/sounds they do a very good job of reducing external sounds. Battery life In my opinion this is where these buds stand out. The battery life is amazing i have wore them to bed for 8+ hours and each morning the buds still have around 30% battery remaining. Battery life has been the biggest issue in the past where the buds would not make it thru the full night. Sleep tracking The soundcore app makes adjusting the earbuds feature quick and easy, but this is also where you view your sleep tracking history. Tracking data provides you with time awake, light sleep, deep sleep as well as times rolling over and percentage of time in certain sleeping positions (back, left, right side). One thing I do not see is integration with Apple Health which is a little disappointing.

These earbuds are surprisingly comfortable and stay in place throughout the night, even if you're a side sleeper like me. The noise masking features work really well — it doesn’t cancel everything, but it blocks out just enough ambient sound (like snoring or light traffic) to help me fall asleep easier. The mode for sleeping when my audio stops with ocean noise is pretty good. Only downside is they aren’t really meant for music or calls — but for sleep and relaxation, they do exactly what they promise. Would definitely recommend if you're a light sleeper or need help winding down. Battery life is enough to last the night.

Terrific earbuds! Super comfortable and they've become my go to for everything, not just sleeping. I'd buy these again in a heartbeat if I ever lost them. Fantastic battery life. No Active Noise Cancelling but they've got a good seal, so they have good Passive noise canceling. Not as good as earplugs obviously, but still good. I have some ANC earbuds (Beats Fit Pro) but I'll choose these Sleepbuds every time. I like how they do sleep tracking in the app! No clue how they keep track of that data but seems pretty good. I don't have any other health / sleep trackers, so this is my first one! One thing is that they don't have microphones, so they don't do phone calls. But not a huge deal. Just means I can't use them for zoom or discord calls, and then I'll go back to other earbuds / headphones.

Honestly foam earbuds block more noise. But the sound masking preset audio (I use mid frequency) they have does block talking and snoring (mostly) more than foam, and they're somehow more comfortable than foamies, although sometimes in the morning my ear feels itchy and I remove them without realizing (also happened with foam) . Now down to the most surprising thing with my set, I might have been lucky, but I left the earbuds on my bed out of case, my cat has a habit of taking candy toy mice, random candy wrappers, her a cork to my whiskey bottle and other random things, and dunking it in her water bowl.. You can see where this is going. I turned on the find earbud sound because I couldn't findit anywhere I kept hearing it faintly... It was ringing 3 inches down at the bottom of her bowl. I frantically searched the ip rating and it's only sweat resistant (of course who would sleep in or around puddles of water) , but I heard the audio through the bowl so I had some hope annnd my earbud is perfectly fine! Sounds just like the other one. I thought I was out 150$,but amazingly it was water proof. I will be disciplined to put them in the case from now on so my cat doesn't test my luck (or their under evaluated ip rating) again lol

The Good: You can choose and mix/match sounds to help you sleep at night. I have a snorer next to me so I chose a combo of rainfall and grey noise which *most* of the time helps me block out her snoring and I sleep well. They last all night easily, and are comfortable enough staying in my ears all night. That is great...primary mission solved. The whaaat? They have tap controls on the buds to turn up the volume or change modes. You have a limited set of options in the app so you can se them to what your preferences are. The problem is in the dark at 3 AM you can be tapping away and nothing happens...then all of a sudden the volume increases and you are tapping to decrease and nothing happens...you feel the only option is to take out your phone and blind yourself to make changes. The case was designed and then nobody ever tested it at 3 AM in the dark as it has this odd slide cover that only slides in one direction IF you find the little nub on the cover and push it in the exactly correct direction. Again, try that at 3 AM in the pitch black...same issue if you want to put them back at 5 AM in the pitch black, it is really hard to do. They went with style over function for the case. What I do: So I deleted all the optional sounds on the buds and only have my one combo...you cannot easily change sounds with the tap controls so I don't want them to accidentally change to a sound I don't want at that moment so I only store 1. Over a series of nights I set the volume at my "optimal" setting for me...again to avoid having to use the tap controls or take my phone out. Finally that case...I've got used to feeling for that little tab and patiently trying to slide the case open and if I am a little off, trying to find the proper slide point...again at 3 AM in the dark. Lots of good here, but wow the follow through just isn't great.

I had the A10 for about a year and they worked well (until i sent them through the wash.) probably wouldnt have upgraded otherwise, but glad i did! They are auper comfy even when lying on my side, and the innovative wings hold them in place. Sound quality is also noticeably better. My two gripes: 1) you cant do sleep tracking without starting it from the app (which is the opposite of the A10s) — though (and i guess also a con) SoundCore doesnt sync to Apple health so its not really useful data anyway. And to be clear, you can still do a sleep MODE which is just ambient music without using the app. B) itchy ears. This is very common for me with in ear tips, but its a nit distracting if it happens as im trying to doze off. Its not consistent and i havent really tried out any of the many other tips to see if that helps, but just calling it out. Overall, still the best sleep buds for the price (especially if you can snag them for under 100)

I've been using these every night for several months. They sound great and are a tremendous help with my trouble sleeping. I came from Bose sleep buds 2 - I had 2 pairs of these and both stopped working after barely a year. Bose provided no support or warranty. Absolutely love having bluetooth on these, I probably use this function more than the sleep sounds. I've used the lost/find alert and it works perfect. They fit well are quite comfortable and play a full 8 hours of bluetooth per night. Love these - great product with actual thought put into the design and functionality.

I've always had issues with earbuds slipping out so I was surprised that these actually fit me well and I could wear them while sleeping on my side. They do come with a lot of different sizes so if the default ones don't fit, you have other sizes to try. The sound quality isn't great for the price, and the noise blocking isn't too great either. I share a room with my boyfriend who likes to game and even with my noise mix at full volume I could hear him talking along with the keyboard noises. I used them a bit for regular music use and there's a slight delay whenever inputting any changes ( changing music, switching videos). Not a big deal but again for the price I would have expected better. The app is decent, nothing really to complain about. The only thing really going for this is the comfort of the earbuds and the battery life. I'll have to mess around more with the earbuds to see if a different size will block out the noise better.

I am a side sleeper and find them comfortable. The battery lasts through the night, and the case holds enough charges for a workweek. I am not impressed with the app. I can hear the loops in some of the sounds and wish it included sleep meditations. I still use the Calm app for that. You can set an alarm that comes through the earbuds, which is nice, but you can not customize it, which is not. You can customize the size and the controls for the left and right ears. It took some trial and error to get it the way I wanted, but considering I went through four different pairs of cheap options, that woke me up in the middle of the night telling me the battery was low, these are worth the money. I bought them on sale. I have other Anker products and trusted the name, or I doubt I'd have made the leap to $130 sleep earbuds. The case bothers me. It is fussy, like they were simply trying to do something different but that doesn't affect the quality of the earbuds

I could write a detailed lengthy review about going from A10 to A20, but will keep it simple. Based on my experience, A20 is noticeably superior. I’m glad I decided to upgrade even though I wasn’t unhappy with my replacement under warranty pair of A10. Here’s what I like better about A20: Better battery life. Smaller size = more comfortable & better fit (as a side sleeper). Improved noise reduction. No connectivity issues. Also, the A20 case is more compact and has a softer texture.

[Employee of bestbuy] I thought these were OK when I first got them. The sound quality was worse the original ones but the connectivity was much better. I felt the issue with sound quality was due to none of the tips getting a good seal in my ear. I have just added the Comply foam tips to these and I have to say they are 1000x better now. Great seal much better quality and very comfortable. I would think each persons experience varies but if you feel you are getting a lot of sound leakage from these try a pair of the tips from comply. When sealed these headphones are great for a quiet nights sleep

[Employee of bestbuy] The biggest difference between the a10's and the a20's is the battery life. I struggled to get more than 6 hours on the a10's when in sleep mode, but the a20's easily get 10+ hours in sleep mode and 8 on Bluetooth. When sleeping on my side I do notice pressure on my ear but it never leads to any soreness, and the earbuds do a great job staying in. The only problem I have is that my right earbud's battery drains a good bit faster than the other one, but since the battery life is so good it has yet to die while I was sleeping.

I had the Bose Sleepbuds II which were amazing until the battery went on them Bose discontinued them. Tried the A10s and could never get the battery to last the whole night- I would do Bluetooth (because the library of sounds for sleep mode was poor quality). It seems soundcore has done an update to its firmware and the sounds that you can save are much better quality. These are so much more comfortable on my side and have not fallen out after using them almost a month. I just slept 10 hours today with still plenty of battery left.

Headphones do exactly what there intended to do. I had the Bose headphones & really liked them. Never used the Bluetooth option not even for these. The design for these are different from Bose. For Bose I feel they went in flush in my ear. It w/ these they don't. They stick out a bit & when sleeping on my side if I don’t sleep right that ear bud will become quiet because of the pressure put on it I assume. If it went more flushed in my ear wouldn’t have that problem. App I never had a problem actually was pretty good & a much easier set up vs Bose. Super cool you can tap on an ear bud & pause noises especially when waking up to use restroom. Super helpful. One thing I could add to was the design of case. Not easy to open or where to find to open because there is no actual button or some kind of marking to grab your fingers to pull back & open like the Bose buds. Battery life is good. Use them at 10 pm & wake up at 9. Still working. Great to me
