Honestly, I couldn't wait to see this movie in the movie theaters but unfortunately I was unable too. I was excited when I bought it and don't regret it at all after watching. The storyline of this movie was beyond what I expected and very well written. The acting was also great. I would recommend this movie to anyone.

I bought this thinking it was a movie about boxing. We had no idea how much of a story there was until we watched it. This is a movie about a boxer and the trials and heartbreak he faces after his wife does. The character development is incredible.

This was a much better than I expected. Gyllenhaal is a great actor, did a great job in this movie. I thought it was gonna be a fighting movie & not much more than that. Couldn't of been more wrong. Great story! Great cast! Highly recommend this!

Jake did a fantastic job in this role. Most do not know rapper Eminem was supposed to play the role but dropped out and did the score for the film instead. But none the less it's a stellar movie that will have you on the edge of ur seat at the end!

Southpaw is one of the greats sports movies and, in my opinion, the greatest boxing movie of all time. Jake Gyllenhaal gives a phenomenal performance as Billy Hope.

It took me awhile to decide on purchasing this movie but i am glad i did. I am not a huge fan of Jake G. but he i know he does throw himself completely into a role and he did an exceptional job. The movie had a good story line and lots of depth. It was also sad. I am glad i decided to purchase it.

I love this movie. Saw it in theaters before it came out on Blu-ray. Bought the steelbook which I love, and I collect them. The best buy actually had the steelbook in stock. Have had trouble with preorders but they came through this time.

I can honestly say this is one of my favorite movies I've seen. I actually teared up almost the whole movie and thats not normally my reaction to movies! Nothing boring about the movie, certainly would recommend watching it!

This is not just another boxing movie. The storyline is great from start to finish. Life lessons, being at the top, down to the bottom, then finding your way back again. Great movie, highly recommend. Very emotional.

First of all, I appreciated that the movie inside worked, as well as the fact that it wasn't just flying around in the case like some other places seem to have a problem with. Secondly, this was a fantastic movie! Just loved it!

This case is really why I bought this particular DVDs, besides the fact this movie is excellent. Jake is as good maybe even better than his performance in end of watch. Great family movie, you would be crazy not to buy this.

Much, much better than I was expecting, this is an excellent if somewhat predictable story with exceptional acting by Jake G., who turns in a heartfelt performance in the lead role. With good support from Rachel McAdams and others, this is an entertaining way to spend two hours.

I love this movie, and it is my favorite Gyllenhaal performance to date. First time I watched this movie, I gained 15lb of muscle within two weeks because it motivated me so much to go start abusing my bag again.

I did not think I would like this movie, but it was the boyfriends turn to pick the movie for movie night. I ended up loving this movie! it is not all boxing; has a great story line and is very captivating. A touching and moving story. One of Jake Gyllenhall's best performances.

You will encounter every human emotion during this movie. Sad, happy excited etc. and I usually don't cry to any movies but I shed a few tears throughout this great movie. Manly yet good to watch with your significant other

It was a nice story, not trying to be too gritty or to local. I cared about the main characters and even got a little stressed out, sad and inspired. So that should tell you it pulled me in. Even if it is a bit formulaic it delivered in the genre. It's a keeper.

It is good story even acting too. Just one time happening for lost everything , then Billy Hope found new trainer. He became a mentor than help to Billy for new person. Finally Billy got the opportunity to got everything... If someone like real Boxing movie. This is it.

Very gritty and heart wrenching. Rachael McAdams had a small but a most believable part. She is awesome. Great casting with Jake and the little girl. Have watched it many times over and told everyone I know how good it is.

Good movie. GREAT performance. The story is immersive and Gyllenhal (sp?) delivers a great performance. The movie needed to be either 20 mins longer to flush some story lines out, or 10-15 mins shorter and focused primarily on his training. Either way though, GOOD movie.

At first I thought it was another Rocky movie but after a bit you can see the twist to it which makes this movie a very enjoyable experience. I had rented it at first but I liked it so much I decided to buy it
