I bought this as a birthday gift for my grandson’s new I-phone Xr. I like Otter Box myself but he said it was to bulky for his liking. I hope it works because I feel the protection offered is a little on the weak side for what I paid for this case ($42).

For my first iPhone I purchased three phone cases. Two were decorative and one functional and decorative in textures and colors only because of its design and construction. I never used the first two, but I used the Speck gripper until it was worn, then a purchased another, and even another. I also purchased them for friends that loved the ergonomic fit in their hands, the colors and design features, and the protection it provided their phones. It wasn’t bulky and it held firmly in my hand and equally well in their hands too. While working with tape measures and clip boards, it never slipped out of my hands. I did drop the phone a few times, but the case was well designed and well built; and it always protected the phone. Fast forward to the Speck PRESIDIO PRO for the iPhone Xr. My case is midnight blue and trimmed in black. It is designed to allow for wireless charging, and it works very well. It is also designed for impact and passed a 10-foot drop test before being marketed. The iPhone Xr is a little larger than my first iPhone and I particularly like the material used to make this case. Again, the design is based on the original double layer and co-molded case, but there are several additional features that I also like on this case. To start with, I appreciate a slim line case for the larger phones and this case provides that plus it is designed for impact without having my iPhone encased in a cumbersome rugged impact case that will never fit in my small purse, and surely not my pocket if my clothing even has a pocket. The material of the case also fits firmly in my hand and does not slip. An additional plus to the material is that technology has allowed for the design of the material to be antimicrobic and this inhibits bacteria growth on the case and aids the case in keeping its good-looking appearance and looking new. The black trim is very subtle but is beveled in such a way around the screen and the camera lenses that I have even more protection from breakage of glass surfaces of the phone. Because the case is dual-layered and built for impact, I can not only carry a sleek, slim phone, but I know without a doubt that I am protecting it with one of the best products I can purchase. Since wireless charging requires that charging be done through the back cover of the iPhone, this case allows for that too. If I have the capability for wireless charging and I do, then I would like to use it because it is very convenient. With this phone case, I don’t have to compromise in any way to have a very nice looking, impact resistant slim case on my iPhone. I would highly recommend that you look at the Speck cases when you are considering purchasing a new cellular phone or protecting the one that you already have. There are several styles; however, the PRESIDIO PRO is just perfect for me and my current need. Go take a look at the many SPECK cases for the numerous makes and models of cellular phones.

Case seems sturdy so far, but the side buttons don't always feel like they are pushing the buttons on the phone right. It looks like they don't line up correctly.

Hi there - we are very sorry to hear about your experience with your new Presidio Pro. Our team works hard to make sure your case provides optimal protection but like with all form fitting items, materials take a little time to conform to its device dimensions and your particular operation. So initially operating buttons can appear firm and imprecise, however this goes away after about 20-30 days. We know this seems inconvenient and apologize for the experience but assure you it is for your device’s protection. If you continue to have the same experience after thirty days feel free to contact us at [email protected] and we’d be happy to address your concerns. speckpwr

Keep your XR safe from sliding off tables!

-- Fit -- The Presidio Pro has a very snug fit with my XR. There's no gaps or "flimsy" areas around the screen to allow for dust/dirt to get in between the case and phone. The case provides excellent raised bezels on the front, so you can put your phone screen-down without worrying about scratching it. My only concern about the fit is that since it's so precise, you may or may not be able to use a screen protector with it (I didn't have one to test). -- Material -- I love the feel and texture Speck used on this case. The rubber-like texture of the phone stops my phone from sliding around tables/desks/etc. The only negative thing I can say about the material for the case: it attracts oil from your hands like it's its job, so you'll need to wipe it down now and then. -- Protection -- Speck's website claims this will keep your phone safe, up to drops of 10 feet or less. I don't have the phone budget to test this, but I have dropped my phone a couple times from table/waist height with no issues. My screen and camera lens still look great. The case holds up pretty well to drops as well, there's only a couple marks from where it met concrete.

Upon taking this Speck Presidio Pro Apple iPhone XR case out of the box, I was instantly impressed. The case certainly looked like it would do the job that it was designed for. It’s made of material that’s flexible enough to ‘give’ a bit to allow you to actually put your phone into the case without having to worry you’re going to damage the phone by ‘bending’ it, and yet sturdy enough to be sure your phone will, indeed, be protected. The inner surface of the case has a rubberized texture, cradling your phone nicely, which is much better than some of the plastic types I’ve seen. And the outside of the case itself is a matte finish, which gives you a nice secure grip when handling the phone. Plus, the case has been treated with antimicrobial technology, to cut down on the growth of bacteria from handling your phone case. Side buttons were easy to press, no problems there. Another thing worth mentioning is, the area at the bottom of the case where the power cord gets plugged into, that little piece of rubbery material there, also has that ‘give’ to it, so be mindful of that. This is the part of the case I’ve found which has the most potential to break. There’s no way around it. That piece needs to be that thin and flexible. Just take care when putting your phone in or taking it out of the case, and when plugging in the power cord. The corners are reinforced, which is a high-selling point for me, especially after my phone slid out of my hand and fell to the floor, a couple days ago. Initial impact was on the corner. Then it landed on its face. Both areas were protected. Which brings up something I’d like to mention about these types of cases. There is no front plastic cover as some of the more fully enclosed cases have. This case is meant to cushion and protect the back and sides of your phone. However, there is an upraised ‘lip’ or bezel around the front of the case, which makes it so that the glass screen is not flush with that bezel, and in the event that your phone lands face down on a flat hard surface (such as mine eventually did), there will be space between the screen and that surface, so the glass should be fine - theoretically. Overall, I was pleased with this Speck Presidio Pro Apple iPhone XR case. The color I got, Carbon Black/Eclipse Blue, was really very nice, too. I do think the price for it is just a teensy bit high. But then again, it’s about average for these kinds of cell phone cases.

    Speck Makes an Awesome Case

I generally only use Speck cases. Prior to getting this case, I had the OD green grip case and I loved it. I had it on my last two iphones and I like the way it feels, looks and most importantly protects. So, the Presidio Pro Case was something I looked at before. I never went for it, and that was primarily because it looked too thick. I love the matte finish, so that is why I went for it now. All Speck products are great for drops. I can more than attest to that. I don’t plan on dropping my phone in this case, but I know that if it happens it will be fine. What I like the most is the finish on the case. If you set it down on an angled surface it grips. It goes easily in and out of your pocket unlike many rubberized cases. It really just feels nice and secure in your hand. The one minor issue I had with it was that when you first use the start using the case it picks up fingerprints like crazy. If you have any oil on your hands (or if you have kids of any age) the case looks greasy and used. But, after about a week it basically got enough wear that it looked even again. I love the way it looks and it is no thicker than any of the other Speck cases I’ve owned. If you are looking for a case that protects, don’t waste your time or money on anything else. I won’t buy anything else.

This is a good protective case for my iPhone XR. It was easy to put on and seems durable so far. The fit is snug all the way around the screen with no gaps. It claims to offer drop protection up to 10 feet, but I'm not willing to test that. Using the phone with the case, it has a nice feel and texture and is comfortable to hold. However, it does show sweat and water marks which takes away from the overall appearance and my rating. Overall, this is a good protective case which should meet your needs if you're looking for an inexpensive option.

    Good case, not slim

The Speck Presidio Pro case for the iPhone XR is a good case. It's very durable, comfortable and feels good in your hand. Although, it is not very slim at all. In fact it's actually quit bulky, especially due to the lip that extends over the front of the iPhone. That's not to say that it's a bad case, it's actually really good. The design of the case is nice, it has that smooth rubbery feel to it, and it does a good job at fingerprint resistance. The buttons are nicely cut out and shaped around the volume up and down, as well as the power button. There is a little square hole cutout for access to the silent toggle switch, which is just big enough to access. The bottom 3 cut-outs are perfectly cut to size, that includes the speaker, lightning port, and barometer. The camera cut-out is well tapered in and covers the camera perfectly. The front of the phone cover has a pointed rim that extends over the front of the iPhone, presumably as to not scratch the face when setting the phone face down. The Speck case is rated to protect the phone from up to a 10 foot drop without it breaking...I did not test out this feature, and hopefully won't be doing so anytime soon. although, I can confirm that the case is well protected. Overall, the Speck Presidio Pro is a good sturdy case, that offers great protection for your iPhone. The case is very comfortable to hold, and the buttons push with ease. The only issue I would have is that the case is not very slim, due to the pointy lip that extends over the face of the phone. I would recommend this case to anyone looking for a sturdy case for their iPhone XR.

I have had the case on my iPhone and it feels and looks great. Very light and goes on easily. Protects my iPhone and keeps my iPhone from bring slick. Makes it feel very secure in the Palm of my hand. Buttons are covered and still are usable. Lightweight yet durable. I am very impressed with the quality, look and feel of this case.

This is NOT my first Speck case. I have had them since my iPhone 5 and they remain my favorite for a variety of reasons. I have never, ever had a phone with a Speck case encounter a crack, break or disruption, despite the fact that I work on a ranch and my phones have fallen several feet, been stepped on my goats and run over by the utility vehicle. No worries! This particular case says it is good for a ten foot drop, and while I am not planning on running a test, I do feel that it will protect the phone. This case has several layers of shock absorbing material, yet weighs very little. The case is smooth and thus goes into and out of your pocket easily. I got the dark colored case and the only thing I would change if I bought another is to get a more vivid color that I can find in my purse!

This case feels slick, but doesn't slip out of my hands like my iPhone feels without a case, but it just feels much bigger in my hands. I like that it protects my iPhone well, but i liked my old thinner case better. Does my old case protect my iPhone as well, probably not, but I don't typically drop my iPhone. So if you want to protect your iPhone, then this will probably meet your needs. It is supposed to work with magnetic phone mounts. I did put the metal disc inside and even tried the larger rectangle and the case is just too thick to work with my magnetic mount. Earlier I did have a weaker magnetic mount, but found a stronger one that does work with my old thinner case. So if you are looking to use this with a magnetic mount, you'll need to stick the metal disc on the outside. The styling is just ok. It is pretty boring to look at. It has nice rounded edges and it sticks up past the glass touchscreen, even with a ballistic glass screen protector on it. But the solid color is pretty boring .
