Over all review is excellent. It starts fast is lightweight and has very good battery life and comes with a standard USB adapter and a slip cover. has a 250gb SSD drive I'm sure aids in the fast response. I like the touchscreen as I've become accustomed to it before. Plays videos very well with excellent screen resolution. now some maybe shortcomings depending on your use. ONLY micro USB even thought a micro to standard USB adapter is included. Power is through a dedicated micro USB port. Wireless ONLY, no Ethernet port or adapter included. ( don't know if supported or not). This may be a drawback in a corporate environment. User creation wants an online account (Microsoft preferred). However a local account can be created after jumping through a few hoops. Over all a very good well appointed laptop.

The HP Spectre is sleek and thin. Even the packaging was high quality. I like the touch screen, the light weight, 1920x1080 screen, speakers, and how it comes packed with an Intel i7 8th generation. The white color is cool and gives it an Apple product feeling too. I def recommended this laptop for travelers and mobile office users. Gamers and program developers should not get this laptop. The laptop has 2 USB-C connections and 1 headphone jack (you can use Bluetooth for everything else). The only things I would change about this laptop is that I wish it had at least 1 or 2 USB 3.0 ports and 1 SD card memory slot.

This is the most elegant and classy looking laptop I’ve ever seen. Absolutely stunning to look at, I almost feel bad actually using it. Setup was fast and simple. I was online within 5 minutes of turning it on for the first time. Both of my wireless printers detected and installed flawlessly. Pros: It’s beautiful!! , It’s super fast( core i7 8th gen) and it’s faster than my 6 month old home PC. Windows 10 – Finally getting used to it and I really like it now. The fast boot nowadays is just crazy. I think it’s less than 20 seconds from power on to being online. It’s so thin!! – It’s slightly thicker than my phone when it’s closed and it weighs next to nothing -2.45 lbs. Battery life is fantastic. I watched 3 Netflix movies, amd still had 50% power left. 2 USB-C Thunderbolt connectors and an HP fast charge connector. Comes with an adapter to use the standard USB items. It's the perfect size. Keeping it on my desk next to my main rig and find myself using it more and more for the things I don't need a giant screen for. The back lit keys are awesome and can be turned off to save power but it really makes using it at night a pleasure. It's nice to be able to shut them off while watching a movie too. It's very quiet. The Bang & Olufsen sound is very nice as well and has plenty of volume when needed. Cool little protective sleeve is included to keep it safe while travelling without a bulky case to carry around. Cons: The hard drive is not huge (only 256 gigs). Again, in this price range, it should have been a 1TB in my opinion. A bit pricey but worth every penny Highly recommended!! Great job HP - love your modern new logo too

As my first new laptop in many years [and 1st Windows-based laptop in even longer] I must say how impressive the overall HP Spectre really is. My air-light non-Windows-based laptop that has been my go-to machine for travel, viewing movies, light photo editing, email, web and other light tasks now has a replacement. Fast: Boot times are very short due to the SSD drive and i7 processor w 8GB of RAM. Wireless networking is easy to configure, fast on my network [ac] and has been reliable. Powerful within its limits: It's obviously not a gaming PC nor is it a workstation - but for basic connectivity and ability to do day-to-day tasks, it's great. Light: Seriously lightweight, slim. Design: Classy comes to mind. For a commodity item it scores lots of points for simply being nice to look at. HP finished this unit in a matte white trimmed with what looks to me like champagne-colored metal works. This is a really great looking laptop. Leather pouch is included, a nice touch. Screen: Gorgeous. Still getting used to its touch capability. HP set the default screen mag @ 150%, good move for a small hi-rez display. Sound: Internal speakers are pleasing but not hi-fi; it's a very compact laptop and it sounds like it. Now, the earphones jack, that's another story. It can run warm in the rear vent area so be attentive to not blocking the ventilation ports and cutting off airflow. 3 rubber feet on the bottom give it some clearance from the surface it's sitting upon but, if you like to crawl in bed and finish up a Netflix show with the laptop propped up on your knees be sure to give it some room to breathe. Downsides 1. Having to buy adapters/dongles [it comes w 3 USB-C ports & a USB-C to USB-A adapter]. I'm looking forward to putting this to use for movie watching via a projector hence the need for a USB-C > HDMI adapter [literature says it will output video via USB-C]. 2. Battery-life: Half the life of my old laptop. I would categorize this as a capable light-duty laptop that is highly portable, fast at its job, looks great and is easy to use. Enthusiastically recommended!

Setup was super easy - Cortana talked me through it. Windows is windows and if you're able to work in a windows environment, you'll be fine with this computer. What is fantastic about this computer is how small and light it is! The 13.3" screen has plenty of room for me to do my work, wander the web, and even do a bit of light gaming, while the computer itself is so light that I easily forget about it in my bag! The sound is great and I can stream my favorite movies with no glitches. The keys have enough resistance that I can spend all day typing and not miss a key. And the touch screen is responsive. For my day to day needs, this computer is portable, feature filled, and perfect. If I have one tiny complaint, it's that the mouse pad is slightly off center with the keyboard and that slightly bugs my sense of aesthetics. Everything else about it makes me happy.

The laptop is great looking. It is very thin, lightweight, and easily portable. It does not come pre-loaded with a lot of bloatware. It does come loaded with Windows 10, and a one-month trial of the McAfee LiveSafe antivirus security suite. The quality of the display screen is excellent, and it is a touch screen, which makes navigating in Windows easy. It is lightning fast to boot up, and is still very fast when in use. It does not get hot, and I am able to keep it my lap for several hours without it getting uncomfortable. Battery life is good, also. I get about ten hours of use before having to recharge. There are three USB ports and a headphone jack on the back edge of the laptop. The laptop is charged through one of the USB ports. The other two ports can also be used for charging other devices. If you a looking for a good, basic, great looking, thin, lightweight, easily portable laptop that is fast and has a high-quality touchscreen display, I would recommend taking a look at this one. You will be hard-pressed to find anything better at its price.

Slim, trim and powerful, a perfect fit for Windows 10. All the benefits of a large screen-sized tablet with a usable-sized Real keyboard. Touchpad does take some time to get used to but is acceptable. Definite winner.

    Gorgeous laptop with some limitations

From an aesthetic viewpoint, the laptop is sleek and gorgeous; however, its sleekness brings limitations. With such a streamline form, it can't come with a optical disk drive. The lack of a optical disk drive usually is not a deal breaker for most but HP's approach to external ports may limit the utility of the laptop for some. The form factor is not conducive to typical type-A USB ports nor HDMI ports although the BestBuy website description states that this model comes with a HDMI port. The laptop does come with three type-C USB ports and my laptop came with a type-C to type-A USB cord. So if you want to utilize this laptop as your everyday work horse, you'll find it not as functional as you may have hope. Since there are no HDMI ports or type-C USB ports, you may have to upgrade your other accessories to gain full utility of the laptop. Meaning, if you want to utilize a mouse with the laptop or connect it to a larger display for times where you need to share the display with others or just want view the contents on a larger display then you'll find yourself not able to connect to an external display due to lack of HDMI and VGA ports. As for using a mouse, you can probably connect a cabled/wireless mouse to the type-c to type-a dongle or upgrade your mouse to a Bluetooth enabled mouse. The display was fully high def and provided a gorgeous picture when streaming. However, when I paused a video stream to allow it to download a bit, I find that when I resumed playback, the video would stutter. I've never encountered this with any other laptop so don't know what the cause is. When I just stream a video without pausing it, I don't have the stutter issues and it plays beautifully without issues. I have had multiple windows opened simultaneously working on spreadsheets, word documents, streaming videos, and just plain surfing the net and did not encounter any performance issues. Other than some of the annoying issues due to its form actor, this laptop is a very good laptop.

HP Spectre 13 -af012dx Comes in small packaging with about 50% battery. It is super light and thin. I was shocked at how compact this laptop is. The look is sleek with a silver white on the outside and white keys. The laptop boots up super fast with the 256 ssd. The Set up went fast. The only hiccup was signing into the wifi. When entering the password for the wifi it kept locking up. It eventually went through. The windows update went through fast without issue. Installing applications and set up with smooth. I was unsure with the 8gb of ram however everything went super snappy. There was a little bit of bloat ware with the regular windows items. Was able to remove most of them without issue however the games kept coming back, i had to go through and stop auto updates from the store. The display on this laptop is crisp and clear. I was happy to see that the laptop had sharp images and easy to read text. There were no usb ports on this laptop. With the size they had to get rid of them and went with usb c thunderbolt ports. The great thing is theres enough to use for the power and an extra port. This laptop makes for a great everyday item to carry around with you were ever you go and get work done. It is super lightweight and one would not notice it in their bag. I would recommend anyone and everyone to get one of these!
