I got a force band with BB8 about a year ago, and it makes controlling him soooo much easier (although it takes some getting used to). Some of R2's charm is from other actions that are only controlled through the app. Using the band with R2 doesn't seem to have the same impact since he's not a ball, but it is fun. My 4 year old can actually control the droids with the band, so that's a plus.

You still need to install an app at to set it up thw force band and get trained on how to control your BB8, and there are some games like pokemon go, also the force band talk ro you. I can stand on one side of my house and control bb8 to the other side and it never looses conection from the force band. It has great control when you move your hand and it feels even more real when the force band talks to you in the voice of obi wan. This force band also works well with other toys made by sphero.

Do you need this for your BB8 Or R2D2 no. But it is kinda cool. Control your robot with out using a tablet or phone just the band. It dosnt work as well as using a tablet but it works. I just need more practice. Nice add on for a cool toy. Just make sure you get it for the right price.

While the band itself is a little bulky being able to control via your wrist is pretty cool. May also work with other Sphero Star Wars toys so you don't have to get another one.

This item works well but I did have some problems figuring out how to initially set it up to work with the droid it was a bit confusing but not disappointing as it did work once it was set up . I would recommend it if you wanted to further enhance your droid to do more things.

Fun for the kids to use rather than a smartphone. Kids had fun playing with BB8 with the band and something different than the radio-control app in the smartphone. It really helps with a kids imagination and play.

Awesome if you have any Star wars sphero toys, my son has the BB-8 and it works great, best of all keeps him from using my phone haha

I purchased this Sphero - Force Band™ in a deal and my friend's son, he really had fun. He was just running behind the toy with this watch in hand.

This seems like the way that BB-8 should have been being controlled all along!!! I got the original BB-8 last year when it was first released, and I've truly enjoyed using it with the app on my phone. However, when I saw that the Force Band was finally being released, I pre-ordered it right away. After having it for 10 days now I have to say I'm extremely happy with the product.

good companion hardware for your Sphero collection, very easy to setup and use

I purchased this band for the Sphero droid. It's great if you don't want to,use the app on the phone or tablet. A must-have!

Sphero Force Band is great, can control the Star Wars Diod. Great addition to collection. For young and old.

Absolutely must own if you have a r2d2 unit or bb8. Easy to use and much better than using your device.

Great add on great deal. Don't know if I would pay $80 for it but for free it was awesome!!!
