I played this game for over 300 hours before I got bored. It provides a lot of variety for playstyles with all the different types of weapons and modes. In my opinion it still lacks some core features for a modern shooter, like the ability to change guns mid match, but overall its fantastic fun and a lot of bang for your buck.

Good game but multiplayer needs 2 switches

This is a great game but the back of the box is a little misleading. It says 1 player and also references multiplayer modes. The game cartridge is one player. You can do vs and other multiplayer functions but must have a switch for each additional player. This is still an amazing family game that is fun for all ages and easy to learn.

Splatoon 2 is an amazing sequel to the original title. The single player mode is fun with engaging stages. Multiplayer is a blast to play with varying degrees of difficulty. You can always enjoy casual turf wars or go for more skilled oriented ranked mode! Overall it's an excellent game and I would recommend it to anybody with a Nintendo switch!

Nintendo did a great job with this video game because they kept much of the game the way it was in the previous version. But they’ve added new challenges that makes this way more interesting. I would recommend purchasing this game especially if you have played the first. The graphics are amazing and they give you new arenas to do your battle.

I never played the first game, but decided to participate in a couple of the splatfests before launch. I was not sure if I would get bored as I do not usually play online multiplayer shooters for extended periods of time. Luckily, I have not been able to put the game down! It is an incredibly fresh experience that continues to be a joy to play.

    Relaxing Online Multiplayer Experience

I like that this game allows you to play online multiplayer and feel like you are contributing to your teams work even if you do not "splat" the most enemies. The game has lots of character customization and allows the player a varying experience of online maps and modes. The game does have some flaws in my opinion: 1) Can sometimes be difficult to join friends, 2) No built in game chat, 3) Some game types only available at certain times. Overall, I think it would be hard to dislike this game.

Had some hesitations that it wouldn't quite feel like a big step up from the first game. But I was happily mistaken. The main campaign kept me entertained and made me use the assortment of weapons in interesting ways. The boss fights are top notch. The multiplayer is just as good as the original and the splatfests will keep you coming back.

I have never been into shooters. The Halos and CoDs just aren't very fun for me. Splatoon came and defied the conventions of what made a good shooter. The best way I can describe Splatoon is that Splatoon is to shooters what Smash Bros is to fighting games or Mario Kart is to racing. It is recognizable as that style of game but the wacky mechanics and frantic pace makes it feel much different. This second iteration improves the formula in many ways, adding Salmon Run (think hoard mode), league battles, and new weapons and special abilities. While I do miss having a second screen to keep tabs on the real time map (like in the original Wii U version) and I miss Callie and Marie, so much has improved and it has such a great vibe that it continues the fun I had in the first. If you never played the first, don't worry, there's no story that you have to keep track of in order to enjoy it. The story in the single player, while fun, is mainly to get you through it and train you for the real meat of the game, which is the multiplayer. On a side note: this thing asks me.if I would recommend it to a friend. I already have and two of my friends have bought it and are having a great time, as well.

I was looking for a fun shooter game that I could enjoy with my friends (grew up playing Goldeneye and Perfect Dark on N64), but also would be fun for my daughter and I to play together. I knew this is a popular series so I thought it would be perfect. It's definitely a game that was fun for my friends and I, but not something we could play for hours on end. My daughter liked it, but I think she was getting a little frustrated, hopefully it's a game she will grow with.

Splatoon 2 is an excellent game in its own right. The online multiplayer is fun, the single-player mode offers some good challenges that can help prepare new players for the online mode, and the new Salmon Run mode is a welcome addition to the series. That said, if you played Splatoon 1 on the Wii U, most of Splatoon 2 will feel very familiar. Standard online multiplayer features the same sorts of modes as Sp1atoon—Turf War, Splat Zones, Tower Control, and Rainmaker. While some of those modes have undergone small changes, they feel, for the most part, the same as before. Some new stages have been added, but they have generally felt smaller and less dynamic than the stages I became accustomed to toward the end of Sp1atoon's life. There are rumors of new stages and game modes coming in the future, but I can only judge Spla2n on what is available right now. The gameplay of the single-player mode in Spla2n picks up, more or less, where it left off in Sp1atoon, quickly reintroducing Sp1atoon single-player mechanics, and then throwing in a bunch of new ones. It does not feel nearly as fresh, but still keeps things interesting enough. And unlike Sp1atoon, you do *not* need to buy any amiibo to replay levels with other weapons. Salmon Run is the new four-player co-op mode, in which you face down waves of enemies. It is a ton of fun and easily the top reason to buy Spla2n. The enemies are challenging, and players are forced to rotate weapons between waves, which prevents things getting repetitive and stale. Spla2n also allows you to play any of the multiplayer modes over local wireless with the only major limitation being that everyone playing must own Spla2n (i.e. no download play). Overall, if you already own Sp1atoon, I personally consider Spla2n worth getting for the added benefits of the Switch's portability and the new Salmon Run mode, but do not expect anything incredibly game-changing in the competitive multiplayer. If you never played Sp1atoon, I *highly* recommend picking up Spla2n.

I purchased this game after hearing all of the great things about the original Splatoon and was curious to see what the hype was about. I have to say after getting comfortable with the controls that this game is super fun and highly addicting! Nintendo outdid themselves with this game. Now if only they can get the voice chat right!

Splatoon 2 is tons of fun, however the difference from the sequel and the original are limited. Salmon Run is great, but is only available during limited times. As for the main splat and ranked modes, there are no new gameplay modes which is unfortunate. matchmaking with friends is botched as voicechat is tied to private matches only and there is no efficient way to join a friend's team. don't get me wrong the game is great, but it learned nothing from it's social connectivity issues from the past.

Listen, 31 year old talking here. This game might look "kiddie" but its a lot of fun! Matches are quick, I havent had any connection problems. Local multiplayer on the Switch screen or tv is really fun. Glad Nintendo knows how to keep local multiplayer a thing. I honestly couldnt care less about talking to people online though so the voice chat setup doesnt bother me. Docked a star because I could see myself losing interest if Nintendo doesnt keep the game fresh with content....which I hear they will.

It is very hard for me to put down my switch to begin with. Now with a platoon I start having separation issues like a mother with her first new born after a day without playing. This game has an interesting twist on the fps genre with that special Nintendo magic. Highly recommended for the competitive gamer and even the casual gamers.

This game is a fantastic example of the quality IP's that Nintendo can crank out at any given time. The gameplay and motion controls are second to none. This game also offers a safe haven for those who refuse to play online shooters because of social anxiety and competitiveness. The Nintendo community will always welcome any newcomers.

I was shocked about how much I enjoyed Splatoon 1. I typically hate shooters, but after playing the testfire. I enjoyed the difference of the game and I bought #1 on launch day and I played it almost exclusively for 2 years with a mix of Mario Maker on the Wii U. So needless to say I was looking forward to #2 coming out on the Switch, The ONLY reason I even ordered a switch on launch just to play the testfire. I ended up preordering #2 with all the amiibos and buying #2 on launch also. #2 is great, I loved the Single Player (I think the final battle of #1 was better, but 2 was more creative) I love the turf war and the Splatfests too. (missed those near the end of #1's cycle) But what I have really found to be fun/frustrating is the Salmon Run. It is quickly addicting and if you play long enough (1400 points) you get 2 super bonuses and can quickly add up your points, food tickets, Gear chunks, etc. I have even enjoyed the Nintendo Website Splatnet App too. I talked alot about Splatoon 1 for the past 2 years, I have already started talking about Splatoon 2. LOVE this game and series so far. Can't wait for the updates to kick in and see what is to come.

I never played the first Splatoon game but this game is fun. Salmon run is a nice twist and fun to play with a group of friends. If you don't have enough for 4 players you can open the room and have random people play with you. However you need the Internet to play unless you want to play story mode. Game is single player. Also when you play online with friends you need to have 4 people in your group to be together. If you join your friends game there is a chance you might be on different teams.

Just as good as the first Splatoon, if not better! The solo mode is super fun, as well as the addition of salmon run makes it much improved. My only gripe would be that it is a little hard to pair up with friends. The option is available, but it's not a guarantee.
