I was a huge fan of the original Splatoon, and am happy to say that I find this game to be as good or better in almost every aspect. The only thing that I miss is the convenience of having the mini map on the Wii U gamepad, but that's more than made up for by the convenience of being able to take this game on the go!

This is a must have for switch owners. The multiplayer is fun. There is a very engaging single player campaign that will introduce the player to the various controls and power ups. Nintendo may not have the most powerful hardware but the games are engaging and very fun. Would recommend this to anyone with a switch.

I never had the original Splatoon, but I had hoped this would allow us to use multiple controllers and play multiplayer on our system. You can't, so that's a bit of a downer. I also find the controls to sometimes be buggy or flakey, and just not very responsive, compared to say Mario Kart or the Zelda BOTW game, where I never had any issues with controls. Graphics are well done though, and let's face it, who wouldn't like changing to a squid and swimming through a thin layer of paint? It's a unique way to get around and adds another level to the puzzle bits of the game since sometimes that's the only way, and for people like me who never played the first, it's not the first thing you think of when trying to figure out how to get from A to B. Not much here for the single player person though who doesn't want to deal with all the kids online, but would rather play a local solo campaign. This game would've rocked if it had two player single console ability like Halo and such. It's just disappointing considering how much there is to do in Zelda and how much time you can play, and for the same price, there's this, with a fraction of the actual content. But most people are buying it for their online battles, so they will get far more use and enjoyment out of their dollars than I will with this game.

Splatoon 2 is a great sequel to an awesome game! While yes is may have its short comings, but for what it lacks it makes up in pure fun. Beautiful colors and just a blast to play! Many hours of replay time to enjoy for the kids and friends alike. It's like paintball wars taken to the next level!

Most popular games these days are military-type shooters that are completely inappropriate for children. No, I'm not being overly sensitive. I just don't want my children being brainwashed into believing that people killing each other is okay. Fantasy, on the other hand, is much easier to explain to them and makes more sense because it's creative and uses imagination; which is exactly how most, if not all, children are. Anyway, I myself (29) have enjoyed this game a ton and my children have as well. My son is still too young for video games (3 1/2) but, since he watches me play and his big sister play, and he has occasional turns to roam around, it's a colorful visual for him. My daughter (8 1/2) has had a blast leveling up playing online and completing the missions in the campaign. She naturally doesn't enjoy gore and violence and does enjoy colorful, messy fun so this is a good fit for her. As are many Nintendo games. I know how children in elementary schools like to talk about "owning each other" online and other absurdities that they talk about, almost as if they're skipping their young years to jump straight into rude, obnoxious teens. So, since my daughter doesn't know what all their lingo means, she'll at least be able to relate to the teamwork, aiming, strategy, etc. aspects of shooting games (and probably school some of them lol). Nintendo, once again, has done an amazing job with what they put out there and whom it's directed towards. It's fun and challenging enough for experienced gamers and not ridiculously difficult for beginners. The lack of multiplayer (more than 1 player playing on the same console) doesn't take anything away from Splatoon. It lets the player focus and improve gradually while having some good-natured fun. Leave it to other awesome games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, (future) Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, (future) Super Mario Party, among others, to satisfy your multiplayer gaming needs. This game and the other content that Nintendo puts out only proves that Nintendo, as a company, and the Nintendo Switch are not full of gimmicks. It's the clear obvious choice for FUN compared to Sony and Microsoft. They're innovative and they're here to stay. All while providing super fun content for all ages.

I was cautious at first announcement and reveal. Would this just be an uprezzed version of the first on wii u? I'm happy to say that this game exceeds all my expectations. The graphics might not appear to be an upgrade but there is a better depth of colors and much more going on in the background that really makes this game much more visually appealing. The modes are the same but the levels feel much more compact which ups the confrontations and excitement. They have tweeked the ranked matches so that they are graded by type instead of overtake for all three and they have added league ranked battle. My favorite addition is the salmon run. The first few ranks are easy and introduce you to the enemies, one at a time, and don't necessarily require much teamwork. But once you start hitting the higher levels, enemies start coming in groups and teamwork becomes essential. This game is very accessable for all ages at regular battles and highly competitive at ranked battles. I love this game!

If you own a switch and are looking for some good online multiplayer action that you can pick up quickly his is the game for you. Everyone is on an even playing field no matter your level. I love how easy it is to play a few games quickly since I don't have large chunks of free time.

Splatoon 2 is a third person shooter with the twist being that the main purpose of matches is to coat the arena in ink, as opposed to shooting the other team. Multiplayer is great with a variety of different matches and arenas that are changed to fit the match type. There's even a co-op mode where you splat down ravenous salmon if PvP isn't your deal. The single-player story mode is even better and a great way to introduce yourself to the variety of weapons in the game. However, it's a continuation of the first game's story mode and contains many callbacks, so newcomers to the series might be thrown off. Despite this, it's still a great platforming/shooter mode with tons of things to collect. Overall, I heavily recommend the game, but only in short bursts. Available stages and modes change every couple of hours, so rotating between the same two stages does get tiring pretty quickly.

The game itself is flawless. It uses motion controls instead of sticks, and the motion controls feel very natural. It is not a pay to win, but there is an optional dlc. The only problem is that splatoon 3 will come out in 2022. So if you can, you might want to wait the year. But with that being said, the splatoon 1 community is still very active, and I can only imagine that the splatoon 2 online scene will stay active even after splatoon 3 comes out. Something to be aware of is that you do have to pay for Nintendo online if you want to play the multi-player mode, but the price of Nintendo online is a fraction of that of Playstation and Xbox's online.

This game is so good.... it’s been my total obssesion lol, but enough of how good the game is the campaign mode is good it’s new and fresh while the multiplayer is freaking amazing and challenging note if you are a beginner you will get splatted a couple of time until you get the hang of it. I do recommend getting the pro controller with this game even though handheld isn’t as bad, but the pro controller does wonder when you use it. You will be more precise in killing and that sort of stuff, yet accuracy become so much better when you have the controller, but over all the game is a must buy way better than COD because it is a new take on the shooter genre, and no I have not gotten bored with the game at all. I am playing while I type this review up lol. So, yeah buy it you won’t regret it. Buy it, buy it, buy it, buy it, buy it, buy it

Great Game! I missed out on Splatoon 1, because I didn't have the Wii U, but this was a must have now that I own the Switch. The must owns now for Switch? Zelda, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Splatoon 2. All three games are brilliant. I suck at this game but it is still a blast. A lot of games like a battlefield or Call of Duty for Example can be a whip and overbearing if you suck. This game however is fun regardless of skill. You can still be an honest help to your team even if you aren't good at killing players. You can help by just inking the ground for your team to travel on. Get this game, and you will enjoy it!

I really enjoyed the first Splatoon, so was pretty excited for the 2nd one. They changed all the specials and added variations to the sub weapons. The campaign feels about the same length as before, but it lets you replay the levels with different weapons later (optional and time consuming). The salmon run is addicting, but seems to be set on a timetable (wish it was always available). Personally I felt to unlock the rank stuff was a grind, but that might be because I was use to it being available from the first one (only playing turf war for 10 lvls was terrible). The phone app seems pretty lame, but you can buy gear on it (in game currency) and it's nice being able to look at your stats. One warning about the app, it puts itself on phone mode which disable the alarms (doesn't happen to all phones).

So far this game has been as fun as the first one. Yes it feels more like an expansion pack than a true sequel, but a lot of people missed out on the first entry because they didn't own a Wii U so that's not necessarily a bad thing. I think it adds enough new changes to validate the price and hopefully with the popularity of the Switch more people will give the online play more longevity than the original.

This is by far one of the best games currently out for the Switch. The single player can be a little confusing but the multiplayer leaves you just as satisfied as he first on the Wii U and even more with its portability option!

This fills an excellent hole in Nintendo's first-party lineup. If you never played the first game you owe it to yourself to try Splatoon 2. Salmon Run is great, though I do wish I could play 2 player co-op on the same Switch.

If you like shooters, you should like this game. There are a few different game modes, as well as a decent ranking system. Plus single player which is also fun. Note: no split screen, but that is fine since I knew going in.
