An awesome game focused on multiplayer.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Both single-player and multi-player modes are great, with a new co-op wave based game mode called Salmon Run as well as PVP League mode. Turf Wars along with the original Ranked mode still remain from the first Splatoon. Single-player has been improved upon from the prior game giving it much more replayability. The story is nice but the main difference to single-player is the different weapon choices though the level layouts are still the same which can lead to a stale feeling depending on the player. This game does support the Switch App for smartphones which allows for online communications between players.

ok I'm loving this game!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the best game so far on the switch! I highly recommend the pro controller which makes it that much more enjoyable. Its easy and fun and good for kids and adults. Im almost 40 and Im having more fun with this then I thought. Its great in portable mode and TV mode. Only single player which kinda stinks I thought I would be able to do split screen with my kids but no dice. Oh and the nintendo chat is where it needs to be right now, its prob going to be something that can be fixed down the road. The online chat isn't like xb or playstation, its only private battles which stinks. as from those few things its been great!

Fun Game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My chikd recently purchased this game with his holiday money. He says it is a very fun game. The controls were hard to get used to but once you do it is really fun.

The best all ages shooter game on the market
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a game that mixes a ton of innovation with a little bit of 90's throwback nostalgia. It's influenced by older arena shooters like Quake and Team Fortress but with a bit of 90's Nickelodeon neon slime and emphasis on "cool" mixed in. And as a father of girls, its refreshing to see a genre typically dominated by boys getting so much attention from girls too. It's fun, vibrant, and family friendly while still having depth and nuance in spades. I highly recommend it for a dad who wants to enjoy a favorite gaming genre with his family, without introducing a 7 year old to realistic military shooters.

Great, fun, addictive game
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is actually my 2nd purchase of the game. I enjoy the game, it's a fun based version of Call of Duty where you have to paint the board or attack the opposing team with different types of paint weapons. I enjoyed so much that I purchased for a friend so that we can play together. It takes a little bit to get used to the game and really learn it. You also need a certain amount of time and experience so unlock the full potential of multiplayer gaming, but still a fun, worth it experience.

Surprisingly Addicting
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Never played the first Splatoon game but I heard that this one was not much different. At first I thought that was bad, but after playing for a couple hours, I changed my mind. This game is addicting and fun. It's even much more fun with your friends! I've played Triple A PC/PS4 games and Splatoon 2 is close behind them. It takes a while to level up compared to other games I've played but the journey is well worth it if you are really trying to get better at the game. Add me if you want to play together! Not my cup of tea, but it's still a great game!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A lack of time for the competitive scene and inexperience with motion controls prevented me from truly diving into this game, but I did manage to splash around in single player enough to find this game charming and unique amongst similar team-based shooters.

One of Nintendo's best IPs
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you did not pick up Splatoon for the Wii U then you are missing out. I was beyond thrilled to hear that Splatoon 2 was coming out for the Switch. If you have never played Splatoon then know that it is 75% multiplayer. You play as a squid boy/girl and the typical gameplay is that of inking each other's turf. There is a single player mode but know that it is not long but it is difficult at times. If you have played Splatoon then you will enjoy Salmon Run which is a new way of playing. Wonderful game and one of the most unique IPs Nintendo has come out with in a long time.

Very fun game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Splatoon 2 improves on the what the first one started. Multiplayer is a lot of fun and there's enough single player content for those who do not like online.

Fun quick game with a great aesthetic
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I never played Splatoon 1 due to not buying a Wii U, but it caught my eye when it came out. So I was excited for Splatoon 2, especially after all the great reviews, and I was not disappointed. Splatoon 2 is a game dripping with classic Nintendo charm, from the bright colors, to the art style that’s aimed at kids but enjoyable by all. The gear styles that you can mix and match and potentially be seen in the main square, encourage for creating the freshest looking squid-kid, while the upgrading system helps keep the stats on the gear from helping you do that. The game itself focuses heavily on the multiplayer aspect, and for the first few hours you will be mostly playing the Turf Wars mode. The way the game is designed makes it so even if you aren’t the best at shooter games, you can still be useful to your team by painting territory, and your type of gameplay, painting vs splatting, can be enhanced by your choice of weapon. The weapons are limited at first but open up the main playstyle options pretty fast in the first few levels, and then you unlock more specialized versions of these weapons. The first few games might feel impossible, but as you get the hang of it and find the weapon that fits you, you’ll quickly start becoming a strong team member. The best thing is with the ~3 minute match times, your losses don’t feel bad, and you don’t feel like you’re making a commitment when you start one up. Being able to get a few matches in on your lunch break is a great feeling that’s hard to find in most multiplayer games. The best thing about the game is the Salmon Run game mode, which is co-op Horde style game mode, 4 players vs waves of enemies and bosses. With randomly assigned weapons, this is a great way to get to practice and try out new weapons, while keeping the challenge level high and the games feeling different. Unfortunately, this mode is not always open which brings us to the main downsides of this game. For a multiplayer focused game in 2017, it’s missing a lot of the features we’re used to. Voice chat is basically not worth the hassle and most people use a third party app, playing a game as a team before you get to the ranked teams level is basically impossible, since it randomly splits up a lobby. Salmon Run is closed randomly for on average half a day at a time. These, and more, are things that every multiplayer game has now days and big developer like Nintendo has no good excuse for executing so poorly. That said, the rest of the game outshines this social dampener, and still gets a 5 star from me.

Family-friendly Shooter for Switch!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The original Splatoon was sent to die on the wildly unpopular Wii U, so this sequel is giving new life to the young franchise with a packed package, and an already much more engaged user base. From the whimsical single-player campaign, to the competitive multiplayer battles and co-op "horde" mode, Splatoon 2 takes it's unique and creative approach to arena shooters and gives you plenty of ways to experience all that it has to offer. Backed by Nintendo's promise on free DLC and updates -- of which many have already been released -- Splatoon 2 is a must-have for Switch owners.

OUTSTANDING!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A fast-paced, graphics-heavy, logical evolution to the original Splatoon. Only a few critiques, chief among them that the original Splatoon Amibos can only be used ONCE on ONE Nintendo Switch, after which they're disabled for use by other players (even in the same family) on the same base unit. This is different from the same Amibos on the WiiU platform, and I found it irritating to be forced to buy new ones for multiple players in the same family. That aside, a great game, sure to please new players (after the steep learning curve) and old Splatoon hands alike.

A must have for the switch.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Splatoon was a sleeper hit and surprised a lot of people with its great game mechanics and just plain fun. Splatoon 2 doesn't stray much from the original game or it's limitations. The quality is top notch and expands the fun onto the new console. There can be some arguments that not enough has changed from the first game. However, the quality in the game and the continued support and additions such as new maps, weapons, and the splatfest events make it all worthwhile. A must have for the switch and a great break from the higher stress gameplay shooter games available.

Best shooter on the Switch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm not a huge fan of most competitive shooters as it seems the one's with the most time playing them know right where to camp and take me out the second I spawn. What I really enjoy about Splatoon 2 is that it's a light-hearted yet extremely difficult at time shooter. Matches are three minutes and are 4v4 with players constantly swapping in and out between matches. The basic premise being that you are an Inkling (kid/squid hybrid) that can transform to a squid swimming twice as fast as your walking speed. You shoot, roll, spray, or slosh ink around claiming ground. If you try to walk in enemy ink your walking speed is halved and you are more vulnerable. There are so many great modes in the game, with my first favorite being turf war. It's simply whichever team covers the most ground wins. There is also tower control, and rain maker (a destructive weapon that each team is fighting over). I really enjoy the new mode, Salmon Run where a team of up to four fight advancing enemies in a relatively small map. Each has particular weaknesses that you have to exploit to take them down. You have to work as a team and it's really fun. There is also an expansive single player mode that teaches you the ropes as you progress, and a really fun DLC pack "Octo Expansion" that goes for $20 and let's you play as the villain through a large 80 level campaign with a lot of unlockable loot. As you play though the game you level up, earn new clothes, weapons, and gear that has different abilities. And then every month or every other month there are what are called "Splatfests" where participants choose a side and battle with the victor getting rewards to enhance their gear even more. I loved the first game on Wii U and the second game improves on everything. Like that game Nintendo has slowly been adding to this game with the last major additions happening in early December. Over the course of that time many levels, maps, map re-designs, and items have been added to the game. I have put over 400 hours into this game and don't plan to stop playing anytime soon. My four year old son, 8 and 11 year old daughters and teen even enjoy playing this game. I can't recommend it enough.

Be a squid, not a kid!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Splatoon is one of the only online video games that is different from every other online video game. Splatoon's focus on mobility, non-combat objectives, innovative weapons, and style sets it apart from anything else I've ever played. If you play lots of online shooters, you will likely find Splatoon similar enough to be enjoyable, but different enough to stand out. If you hate online shooters, Splatoon is the cure for what ails you in terms of it's aesthetic and community. Also, a great single player campaign for when you're playing it on the bus!
