    Somewhere Between Casual and Competitive

Splatoon has three parts: a single-player campaign that feels very much like a Nintendo game, a coop mode (that requires multiple Switches and game cartridges to play) that's a huge party game-like blast, and third multiplayer competitive game in which you both try to paint more of the landscape than your opponent and knock your opponents out with your paint guns. It's a bizarre and very fun multiplayer mode, but for how well it's designed, it's not a top-tier competitive game. Still, if you're looking for something your kids can play for months at a time or a more casual shooter than Call of Duty, you'll have a hard time finding something better than Splatoon 2.

If you played Splatoon for the Wii U this one will feel pretty similar. That isn't a bad thing though. Nintendo has improved on the original and made this one a bit more polished all around. Really fun game with variety and creativity. One thing to note is the voice communication is still quite convoluted which is disappointing. Still, this game is one of those must haves for the Switch if you want that shooter experience on a Nintendo console.

I like this game since the original wii u splatoon days. In the new one you get new weapons and some new maps. These are easily something they could have added in the first game. Thus felt like if you already have the first one, this game should not be charged retail but it's first time on the switch I'll let that one pass. Other than that multiple player especially when playing as a team is very disappointing since you cannot group/team up together and sometimes depending on who joins, you can't even play together. They really need to step it up with the online play mode especially if they are planning to charge their customer for the online experience in 2018.

At the beginning I didn't know that I had to link an account in order to have access to all game modes. My boys like the battle mode. It is easy to play. My sons ages are eight and six.

An Improvement on an Already Strong Formula

The game is more of the same, but it's still amazing. The solo game play is vastly improved - allowing you more than one weapon choice, and more fun mechanics. Turf Wars is the same as always, made fun by new weapons, abilities, and specials. Don't forget Salmon Run! Splatoon 2's new limited time PVE that's addictingly fun and offers lots of extra prizes. My only complaint is that it's still difficult to team up with friends in Turf Wars.

This game is really fun! I know it goes on sale a lot but I bought it at full price. I think it's worth the full $60 due to the co-op and story mode elements. I think it's easier to get the hang of then say, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. I think if you were deciding on which one to get for a kid, this is the better option.

This is one of our favorites. so much so that we "HAD" to buy a second switch and game so we could play together lol..... whoch brings me to a negative point. the lack of multi player options. this is a HUGE negative! if money is tight and you want two players, do not get this game. with that said. my wife has a switch and now I do too. we both have this game and its a TON of fun to play online together. but its costly fun.

I have never been much into online games like Call of Duty, mostly because I suck at them. Every time I tried to play, I got hit really quickly and died. That being said, I had no reservations about buying Splatoon 2 for Nintendo Switch because I know its a Nintendo game, and thus, it'll be easily accessible for everyone, regardless of experience. So far, I haven't been disappointed. It's fun to play online because the main aim of one of the game modes is to cover as much of the field as possible in your team's paint. You don't even really need to try to aim at other players-- you can just paint all the walls and floors and still be successful. That being said, I often find myself going against players of the opposing teams and managing to beat them anyway, which helps me feel like I'm not that bad at the game. It helps that there are a TON of weapon types available, so you can find a play style that suits you best. I use a paint roller, which is almost like a melee weapon. It can do well in short range situations, but I can jump and shoot paint at an enemy and splat them in one hit, if need be. Another cool option is the different gear you can equip your character with. Each of it has different stats and effects that unlock the more you play the game, which is a good incentive to get just one more match in. I think this is a good game to buy for the Nintendo Switch sooner rather than later because Nintendo is not charging for their online services yet. They will in 2018, if I believe, but for right now it is free to play online as long as you have WiFi of some sort.

I loved the first Splatoon and was really excited to play the sequel. It's a great game, and I play it with my friends all the time. The only problem is there's no splitscreen/couch co-op. I was hoping they'd work that into the sequel so I could play with my local friends and family. But that's personal preference, so I didn't dock a star. As a strictly online multiplayer, it's still a lot of fun.

The game seems fun enough so far but there are a lot of things to do which is good but since Nintendo is going to the subscription thing like ps4 & other consoles it kind of sucks. Too much to do means more subscription time and more $ spent on subscription fees. Idk if this game alone is worth it. Besides that it's a decent take on an fps and fun to play with friends. Couch play would be nice and it sucks you need a separate switch and separate game (and soon a separate subscription) just to play with friends. Nintendo was the only one really hanging on to this way of gaming (couch) but now it's the beginning of the end.

There's a lot to like about Splatoon 2. It offers the same fun and addicting gameplay as the first game, but with new weapons, specials, gear, maps, and even some new modes. This is a game that is heavily focused on online play, so you'll only get as much out of it if those are the aspects that interest you. Matchmaking can be hit or miss, though. The horde mode is a very welcome addition, and I find I sink the most amount of time into it. Overall, I'd say this is the better game in comparison to the first one, though my experience with the netcode was much more positive in the original Splatoon.

Bought 1 initially when the game first came out. Found out it didn't have multi-player coop like Mario Kart. Initially was on the fence about buying another copy but now it was worth it. Kids aren't fighting about who gets to play. Instead they are playing together and having a blast. The controls are like any third person shooter but the game play and modes makes this game a must have for all Nintendo switch owners.

It easy to learn. It does have a story mode that teaches you the controls & don't need Nintendo online for that. The main force is battles against other players which you need Nintendo online. The 1st battle mode is Turf Wars & you have to level up to lvl. 10 to unlock the other battle modes in ranked battles. The game is not dead

This is one of the best multiplayer games of 2017. Offering both PVP and PVE game modes along with ongoing support through 2018 you can not go wrong with this game. If you do manage to get bored and put it down for a couple of months by the time you come back there will be multiple new levels as well as weapons and other items. The game keeps evolving, at no cost to you. Other games could learn a lot from Splatoon.
