This is one of the best multiplayer games of 2017. Offering both PVP and PVE game modes along with ongoing support through 2018 you can not go wrong with this game. If you do manage to get bored and put it down for a couple of months by the time you come back there will be multiple new levels as well as weapons and other items. The game keeps evolving, at no cost to you. Other games could learn a lot from Splatoon.

While he had been obsessed with Fortnite and Super Smash Bros Ultimate, he had always wanted Splatoon 2. When he finally got it for his birthday, he was very excited. His Fortnite playing has virtually ceased and he has spent the last week working out his Splatoon moves... Anyway, he loves the game and the little I've actually seen of it looks really fun. Overall, great purchase!

I didn't know what to expect from this game. It's kinda a third-person shooter, except you're not shooting enemies, you're covering the environment with paint. Cutting my teeth on Call of Duty, Battlefield and other FPS games, I went into it with a "shooter" mentality, and got handily beat. Now I'm thinking ahead and not running into the arena with (paint) guns blazing. My 9-year-old daughter loves the game as well.

Splatoon and Splatoon 2 are amazingly fun games, and I think everyone should give them a try. Splatoon 2 built on a lot of what the original offered and included two two weapon types - Dualies (my favorite weapons) and the Brellas, while adding new sub weapons and specials (some specials didn't return). You have a single player more that is similar to the original, and a DLC single player that is harder and gives you access to Octolings (which Don t play any differently i believe), that challenge you to use all types of weapons instead of just the blaster from the original. The story was slightly affected by the last Splatfest, as the loser there (Callie) disappears and you work with Marie. Turf War is still the main mode for unranked, and is as fun as before. As someone who sucked at aiming, I feel this is a great way for me to be able to compete and still help my team as I improve my aim. There are many stages that change every couple hours. I haven't really played ranked but there are more modes there, tower control, clam blitz, and king of the hill, that some people like more than Turf War. The only downside is Splatfests are over, and I greatly enjoyed Splatfests.

My little nephew has been watching people play this game on YouTube since the game came out. He kept asking me to buy it so I just finally bought it and he hasn't stopped playing since. I just recently bought the DLC and he's having a blast with it. I even sometimes play it while he sleeps because the game is just so fun.

Its a great game, and especially the Salmon run mode is fun... When its on... But it feels a bit too much like the Wii U Splatoon to justify the price to be honest.

Great family game! Great concept to make it kid friendly. Love the bright colors and all the options. Only downfall is that you cannot do multiplayer split screen.

We almost didn't get this for our son for Christmas. We had already purchased Mario Kart 8 and were going to give him that but found out my brother and sister-in-law were going to give him Mario Kart. I decided to return it and get Splatoon 2, despite it being recommended for ages 10 and up. I'm glad I did. He's loving it and picked up on the gameplay pretty quickly. It does a decent job of matching skill levels so he continues to have fun, and because there are game modes based on tasks other than only shooting the opponent, you can be successful even if you're not a future-sniper in training.

It does feel like we got a sequel too soon after the original, and Splatoon 2 does look very similar on the surface, but there are some solid additions to make this a worthwhile purchase. Single-player campaign is great, lots of weapons and customization, and great gameplay. Too bad online play has some really baffling decisions, making it difficult to lay with friends. At least we got Miiverse-like posts.

I share the game with my daughter and it's been hard to get the game away from her so I can play. Thought about buying another copy but I can wait until she's' asleep. During the day, the lobbies are pretty quick to fill up with players. Early mornings it can take awhile to get a game going, but it will eventually fill up. I haven't been able to do ranked yet as that's for level 10 and up. I've touched on story mode a bit and while nothing to write home about, it is fun.

It was a Christmas gift for my niece. She enjoyed this game so much and wanted me and her other uncles to play with her on Nintendo Switch. She was describing how the characters can shift their body to blobs or ink and go through the cracks of surface. Sounds complicated I know! But she enjoys it, and it's something kids would love to try out

    A family friendly competitive shooter

Nintendo has done it again. After the excellent Splatoon on Wii U, we have in our hands the not-too-long awaited for sequel, more of an updated version of sorts, for the more successful Switch. The core of the game remains the same. A short but sweet single player that can take up to 10h and a multiplayer only turf war mode, 4vs4. The shooting mechanics remain intact. Shoot ink as a kid, traverse as a squid through the ink of your color. Two teams, two ink colors. The team that has covered more turf with its color wins. Easy to grasp, hard to master. Motion controls are back as well as regular stick ones. Ton of returning weapons and some new ones, like the inkbrush. Ranked battles open new modes like splat zones or tower control. And finally the co-op mode Salmon Run, a horde mode of sorts, facing players against large enemy bosses on 3 timed rounds. Now, the negative points. Some modes will only be available at specific times, needed to plan ahead if you want to play salmon run or a specific mode in ranked battles. Finally Nintendo proves once again they can't figure out online content, creating a cumbersome solution for communication, required a phone app to talk with your friends. Highly recommendable if you have ever been curious about competitive multiplayer but want to get into it with a more friendly and kind type of game as, given the communication restrictions, no toxicity is present, just a general good vibe all around.

The fun is never ending with Nintendo's Splatoon 2 where the have various locations, events, and more squid wear, play weapons, and fun competitions all in one game. To add more fun, there are also Spatfests that occur about once a month were you decide on a team to be on. The more you play, the higher your ranking becomes. Start as a Fanboy or Fangirl and get up to a King or Queen.

Has a story mode with a good amount of content. There are many multiplayer modes to play, as well as a whole separate mode called salmon run. Even if one is not good at video games or shooters, there is turf war, a more fun mode that can be less difficult. While those who are skilled can still play modes where one is matched with similar skilled players and a very competitive setting.

Splatoon 2 is easy to love. It's colorful and quirky and unafraid to be different, and it's consistently a blast to play. As far as shooters go, its unique movement mechanics stand out and make each match exciting. And while the logistics of its multiplayer aren't perfect, Splatoon 2 is a vibrant and exuberant sequel with enough fresh additions and changes to set it apart from the original.

Good Game - Not so good Multiplayer

The game is good. It's very similar to the original Splatoon. However, one of the reasons I got this game was for the supposed multiplayer. Let me be clear - local multiplayer is not an option. You cannot use two controllers for a split screen experience like Mario Kart. You can't even join the same teams if you and a friend have your own Switch consoles. You can join the same battle, but there is no guarantee you will be on the same team - which defeats the purpose of multi-player. The turf-wars are fun, but there is no reason to upgrade if you still have the original on the Wii U.
