Not a shoot-em-up-bang-bang or a comedy, this is a great movie of a real-life story, the Catholic priesthood child abuse/molestation story and church hierarchy cover-up which enabled the practice to continue for decades. Though interesting, intense and personal, it is very watchable. Acting is terrific, as is the directing. Highly recommended.

Years ago I learned of the abuse of children by Catholic Priests and the Church protected and hid them from justice. I hoped one day to see the truth become mainstream. This movie will grab you and keep you in your seat until the end. Very good coverage of the entire investigation and the timeframe overall in the Boston area. The characters/actors did a fantastic job and the whole story was brought out by the end of the movie. Sad but factual and hard to believe it happened!!!

"Spotlight" is very similar to "All the President's Men". A team of reporters makes it their mission to get to the truth of a story that others were willing to shove off as a minor incident. Just as "ATPM", you know how the story is going to end. But it's how they get there that keeps you riveted. Also, just like "ATPM" the cast is top notch.

Having lived during the time being represented in the film, and having read about the small amount of information in the local newspapers available in my area, I was well aware of something happening and have since read a good deal more. The movie may reflect the occurences of the time, I don't know, the outcome was, and is, the same.

I liked the movie. It was somewhat difficult to follow because it moved very fast. I liked the way the viewer was kept in the loop by direct visionary contact with the performers. Viewers who are not up-to-date on market terms would do well to research such terms as "swaps, shorts, dirivative, hedge,etc." before watching the movie.

This was surprisingly one of my favorite films of 2015...and I didn't really even want to go watch it, but I got dragged to see it in the theatres. I'm not at all religious but it was very interesting to see how much research was done and how the events of 9-11 played a role in the timing of the reporters publishing their story.

Best picture Oscar winner for 2015. Was it worthy of the award? May not be the BEST best picture winner, but certainly ranks up there with the great investigative journalism films such as "All the President's Men". Blu-ray itself has great picture and audio quality; for dialogue-drive film, can't really complain. Recommended!

Happy with purchase. Just as TV said. No violence. No explicit horror displayed. Just a few dedicated journalists who finally uncovered a centuries old scandal that has a shared silent fraternity never before acknowledged. Astounding & Infuriating. The Spotlight team convicted the Catholic Church in the Court of Public Opinion.

Had little knowledge of the actual events that occurred regarding the priests in Boston, but this movie really sheds the light on that. I wanted to know more but regardless, this movie was awesome. Great acting and directing. It was a very compelling movie. Tad slow but once it got going I could not stop watching it.

This movie put the maximum amount of effort to give us the maximum amount of impact without holding back the harsh reality of the abuse. It's worth seeing for anyone who wants a drama that tries to get into the minds of those it's portraying, and does it so well, that what you see is what you might get in reality.

I don't think this movie deserved Best Picture but it is a story that should not go unturned thanks to Spotlight. The performances of this ensemble is nothing but steler. Has some remenants of the movie "The Insider" just presented in a less artistic way. Technically I give this a 4 and half star film.

THIS WAS A CONSISE UNCOVERING OF WHAT TRUE EDITORIAL'S AND DEDICATED NEWSPAPER MEN & WOMAN DO TO GET A STORY PRINTED. THE TRIALS TO STOP THIS STORY WERE ALMOST SUCCESSFUL AS POWER USUALLY WINS OUT. IT TOOK MANY HOURS OF RESEARCH TO GET TO THE TRUTH. WONDERFULLY PORTRAYED IN IT'S POWERFUL MESSAGE.

Covering the material as sensitive as the scandal in the Catholic church over their predator priests was handled very well and not at all heavy handed, sensitive to the victims and thorough in their research. It has been a nightmare watching the church malign the victims and pay them so very little

Exceptionally great movie. I can't believe even after all the investigating reporting, evidence of shoveling this criminal act under the carpet, so to speak, shifting and hiding of priest all over the world, that this is still going on. This movie just shows us how powerful the "Roman Empire" is.

This film is definitely worth all of the praise that it is getting. It is a fantastic film at how journalism can actually be useful (granted we haven't seen much evidence of that lately) and the performances are fantastic. It is a slow burn but it's not an action film and it is not for everyone.

Great ensemble cast with a well written and produced real life story of the allegations against some Boston area Priests and the Boston Globe reporters that uncovered it. Similar in style and substance to "All The President's Men", this movie leave you entertained and satisfied by the story.

Wonder Years was a wonderful show and it's fun to go back and enjoy it again. I just wish they would release the shows all at once instead of season by season- the people who really enjoyed it would be glad to buy the whole set and not have to keep looking for each season to be released.

This film was an amazing look back on journalism in it's former life, you know, when reporters really did investigate stories rather than turning them into sound bites. I hope this movie inspires reporters to get away from the McNews mentality. Great ensemble cast, worth more than one viewing.

Title says it all. Definitely deserved the academy award it won for best picture. The movie is captivating and the actors are incredible. Just be prepared for what the movie is about, it is not like it shows anything, but knowing this happened makes you a little upset and sick to your stomach
