I bought this phone to use on the RingPlus service (note, if you do this, make sure to associate the imei before you turn the phone on!). This gives me a $40 phone with no monthly fee (although I live under the threat of R+ cancelling their free service again).
While reading reviews on several sites, some people have complained about the phone's shortcomings. However, I think they must be coming in with unrealistic expectations. For the price (and even a bit more), I think the phone is great.
Some of the complaints include the weight, the non-removable battery, the lack of a flash and the mediocre camera. Frankly, especially as an extra phone, none of those things bother me. The weight actually makes the phone feel more solid. Several (even higher end) phones have dropped the replaceable battery. The camera is a standard phone camera. In good light it works fine, in bad light, not so much.
My experience with the phone is that it has a great processor, a fair amount of storage for a starter/extra phone (though you'll definitely want to keep media and photos on the microsd card), and an acceptable amount of RAM.
Overall, I would say this phone is excellent as a starter (especially for kids) or extra phone, and would do well in a pinch as a temporary replacement, or perform excellently as a cheap media player device. When paired with a lower price phone service, it's almost perfect as a kids' phone.

I purchased this on sale at Best Buy for forty dollars. I traded up from a Samsung Galaxy S2 which I paid over two hundred dollars for. This phone is faster and works better with my apps. The battery life is much longer and the LTE much faster. The only drawbacks are the screen is a bit smaller, and the camera is not as good and does not have a flash. If you need a great camera on your phone then this may not be the phone for you but if you want a phone that works fast with great battery life that won't break the bank then this is it. I own one for myself and bought two more for my parents.

I'd seen mixed reviews and wasn't sure about this phone. Then my old Moto G died. This Moto E was on sale and I got it for a great price. Now that I have it, I think it's great. It's fast, its memory is expandable with the micro sd card, and the battery live is very good. The camera, even though it doesn't have a flash, works fine. I don't think it's worth it to spend a lot on a phone, because it's easy for them to break or be lost. And this phone performs great -- I recommend it.

Phone only has 8GB RAM so this may be limiting for some. For a basic phone with fairly good performance and capabilities, it is hard to beat this phone for the price paid. The Verizon version was 1/3 the cost of this and may work as a Ring Plus phone but I already purchased this and it works well with Ring Plus. Recommended.

This is a very good value phone, with the latest 64bit Snapdragon 410 and Android 5.1. The only things missing that I can think of are flash and NFC.

What other phone offers 4G LTE, 1.2 GHz quad core processor, water resistant, 4.5 inches of Corning Gorilla Glass 3, and Android 5 Lollipop for under $50? Downside is the camera at 5MPs and storage at 5GBs. Later can be fixed with SD micro card. All in all nice phone.

It's a super cheap (price) amazing quality product. I can't be happier with this purchase. The phone is not the fastest of course, but if you plan to use it as a regular smartphone (calls, texts, GPS, browser) this phone is more than enough. As I stated already is an amazing value for the price. Fast enough, not the best camera but I don't care, not the best screen resolution but more, more, and more than enough to browse the Internet or watch a movie. This phone also made me really like android os. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of a full 5 is because there's a lot other faster phones with better resolutions and cameras, but of course they are 15 to 20 times more expensives than this one.

This is a decent phone overall. I like the new android 5.0 The 5MP camera is disappointing with no flash! Good basic features and moto learns your preferences as you use the phone. Just wish it had flash and it would become a higher ranked phone.

i purchased this on sale and it is working well. i activated it on ringplus before even opening the box and it is working flawlessly. there is no problem with voice, text, or data speeds. coverage is great where i am located in NC. it is a low price smartphone without extensive features, but works great for me. it is not fast but it is responsive. no nfc, camera flash, or even android 6. the battery life has been suitable. i got over 2 days using as phone only. if videos are streaming or music is downloading, then it only lasts a couple hours. this is all i want out of a smartphone.

Best Buy had this phone for a great price and I ordered it to use with the RingPlus service (Sprint MVNO). This phone is working out great for me. We travelled over the holidays and didn't have any issues at all. It's a budget phone that'll do everything that you need it to do.
Pros:
- Works anywhere there's Sprint network.
- LTE support is nice
- Battery life isn't too bad
- Small size that is easy to carry around (can be a con for some)
Cons:
- no LED flash
- Camera is mediocre
- Screen resolution isn't HD
To sum it up, this phone will handle all of your smartphone needs, but keep in mind it is a budget phone. As long as you accept that, it should work good for you.

Best Buy had this Sprint Pre-Paid Moto E on sale for $39.99 which is an awesome price for such a terrific phone. The 4G LTE and the quad-core processor make it super-fast, and it has Android 5.0 Lollipop which I'm still getting used to. The only drawback is that there's no flash for the camera, otherwise I would have rated it a "5".

Item is great for users that don't need much apps. But once you start loading a lot of apps even it says there is rams available it's still slow, LAGS. But if you just use limited apps, this phone is GREAT for the price. Can't beat it. Wish it has a Flash so I can use it as a flashlight, but can't expect much for that price.

Purchased this phone for my wife who just uses basic functions. Was surprised to find that this phone, for the price, performs very well from a speed and ease of use perspective. Since this is a no contract phone, it makes a good phone for people wanting good performance using basic functionality

The memory is great and the speed is better than what I expected. It also can be update to 5.1 .The only thing I don't like about the phone is that the camera does not have flash. Makes a great starter phone. I would recommend this phone.

Light weight handy size fits anywhere. Call performance is very good on ring+. Wish it had a led flash for the camera and a larger screen, but for what I paid, makes a reliable backup to my LG Volt.

Loved this phone given the price I paid. I use an iphone 6s plus as my daily driver and keep this as a backup. I went 2 months with the motove as my daily driver and was very satisfied for the $40 I paid. Will definitely hold onto it for a couple of years.

This phone is fast and user friendly. It was purchased for my teenage son, and other than the fact that he wishes the screen was a little bigger, he loves it! We all know how teens are hard to please!

I am satisfied with this mobile phone.
I was looking for a not-so-expensive non-contract mobile phone (that takes Apple out of the equation), from a renowned brand, with decent processor speed, screen, size, weight and looks. I use plenty of Google apps, so an Android phone made perfect sense.
The Motorola Moto G fulfills my needs and I definitely recommend it.
I just wish that the Best Buy store would carry accessories for it, namely a protective case.

Great phone if you just making calls &social media. Takes great pictures but no flash. Motorola always makes great products. Con's takes a long time to charge, no flash, doesn't do screen shots. Battery last a longtime.
