Game is what we've always had for star fox games short and somewhat barebones. With the addition of past vehicles and new ones a little flavour is added. Graphics are not has great as they could be and controls take getting use too.

Star Fox Zero is often criticized for its control scheme, which is mostly unjustified. While the motion controls have a learning curve, they are very satisfying to use as motion controls allow for higher accuracy aiming than analog. Although, you also have to take into account the relatively heavy weight of the Wii U gamepad.
While the game is rather nostalgia driven, Star Fox Zero is still a unique game that differs from its predecessors in many ways, and I personally found SFZ to be a more enjoyable experience than Star Fox 64 (a game I've played and enjoyed since childhood.)
Overall, Star Fox Zero has a solid and unique control scheme, great boss battles, and a wide variety of mission types.
The major complaints I have are the lackluster voice acting and derivative script.

I bought the Star Fox Zero with Star Fox Guard bundled free. Also bought this on a discount sale - good deal.
The game isn't quite like the original Star Fox, but still pretty good. Two games in the bundle doesn't hurt either.

Happy to return to the StarFox universe. Great value with the extra game included. Unusual control schemes can take some getting use to, but the game is worth the effort. Still loving my WiiU. Need more great games like this one.

I been waits for star fox game for years. Kinda sad this game force you using Wii Pad instead regular controller. It will take you extra times to work your way with Wii U Pad. Still good game. Also, the bonus game is Huge plus :)

An experiment that doesn't quite pay off

Star Fox seems to always be games that come from experimenting with an idea and Star Fox Zero is no different. Originally more of an internal tech demo to play with the capabilities of the Wii Pad and its motion control, Nintendo decided to build it into a full game.
The results are a decent game with some frustrating points that's not necessarily bad on its own, but doesn't live up to the hope Star Fox fans have to one day return to frantic dog fights and the nostalgia of its on rails levels.
If you're a huge fan, it's worth picking up, otherwise snag it if you can find it on sale.

The game is fun. Ship control and shooting takes some getting use to. Some areas can be a bit challenging but that's what makes it fun. Very much like the old Star Fox games with enough new to make it worthwhile. Very enjoyable.

Don't listen to the hate this game receives about its controls. They are different and take some time to get used to, however once you spend the time to understand the mechanics, I wouldn't want to go back to the old controls.

Very average game. Some stuff feels like star fox 64 and that's awesome but it gets bogged down my some terribly slow missions with slow vehicles. Controls take getting use too

Beware the Learning Curve

After skipping the Gamecube and the Wii, Starfox has returned to a Nintendo console. Starfox has always been an enjoyable game and the experience is not that different for this game; however, my biggest complain is that the game is short. It did not take me long to pass it and it is not that difficult either. It did not take away from the experience but I was hoping for more of a challenge.
Before I purchased this game, the professional reviews stated often mentioned the controls and I do confirm there is a learning curve because the game utilizes both screens. It also utlizes the Wii U game pad's motion controls. It is a new experience and it did not take out of them (for me it did not.) However, the gamer has to get used to it; once he or she does, it is not bad.

I've not played any other Star Fox games before this, but I bought this one on launch day and have found it enjoyable so far. I can't wait to start collecting more medals and exploring different areas.
One thing I can say is that I heard some people complain that the controls weren't that great. I have to disagree; I do occasionally make errors in my piloting, but that's more out of inexperience over bad controls. I found the actual controls quite simple and do not see what the problem is with them.
Overall, I'm having fun with the game.

I was a little disappointed with the controls. They aren't as bad as people are saying it's just not as fun to control it this way. The game looks great but is short.

I was fearing the worst before playing this game, but it's actually quite fun. I just wish it wasn't so short and wasn't so similar to Star Fox 64. The inclusion of Guard was a nice bonus, and it's pretty fun too.

The controls take some time getting used to, but when mastered, make the game so much more fun. Those people crying about the controls definitely did not give the time necessary to become proficient with them.

The game overall is fun, including using the gamepad, but the boss fights I've been thru so far are unnecessarily difficult that you have to do repetitive movements to defeat them. Otherwise pretty great game.

I liked the previous star fox games and this one is very good also. The controls can be awkward at first, but they get better after you play for a while. Also star fox guard is pretty cool for a bonus game.

Star Fox Zero is fun but rather short for a full priced title. The control scheme takes a lot of getting used to but works well. The inclusion of Starfox Guard helps to improve the value of the purchase.

The flying game is pretty good (better as coop), but Star Fox Guard, the included base defense game, is actually terrific. Innovative but easy to pick up, fun, and it gets really hard in later levels.

Fun game that reminds me of the older StarFox games.
The controls took a while to get used to but it is definitely a good game
