This game is absolutely amazing and the hd-2d graphics look incredible. If you enjoy jrpgs then don’t hesitate to buy this one, and now the game got even better with a recent free update.

Star Ocean: The Second Story is one on my favorite JRPG's. This is a real remaster with the graphics and arranged soundtrack. The combat is even crazier than before with the new mechanics. Definitely recommend if you're a fan of the series, or JRPG's itself.

Star Ocean 2 but now even better. This game is loaded with content. The main story is short but the content in this game can easily put you over a hundred plus hours. Amazing Remake.

Games like this give me faith in gaming again !! We need more games like this and octopath traveler in our lives !! I'm so happy they want physical on this release because i missed the one before this because it went digital and we only buy physical copies these days . If your looking for a blast to the past look no further!! Not only will it bring back memories to old players it will also bring job to new one who loves jrpgs like myself.

Excellent game, came within a day or two. I’d have to say if you haven’t played Star Ocean, definitely pick it up. Tri-Ace is amazing

I was not a fan of the previous title, Star Ocean: First Departure R, but I still liked the concept of the series, so I picked up this remake of the old PlayStation game. While Star Ocean: The Second Story R is a massive improvement over the first title, I still don't think it's necessarily worth a recommendation. I will say that the story is really good, as I liked the main characters, and thought the plot had a strong emotional center with some nice worldbuilding. Unfortunately, I can't say that the rest of the game meets that level of quality. The combat system is chaotic, and it was hard to do much other than button mash through fights. The voice acting tended on terrible at times. Character building is confusing, and hard to wrap your head around without looking up a guide online. This game isn't terrible, but while I really enjoyed the story, I felt the rest of the package didn't meet my expectations.

The game is super gorgeous in every department. Story, characters development, & the best part is the recruitment of other characters during the game. Probably one of the best Star Ocean series out there so far.

There have been a lot of remakes and remasters in recent years, but few have managed to preserve the spirit of the original while adding quality of life to the gameplay to make it like the experience we remember, but better. Star Ocean Second Story R is that game that does it right. It's not just prettier (although it is); it truly is a 90s experience where we old timey gamers get to keep our rose colored glasses on because the whacky quirks are still there but the rough edges of outdated mechanics have been smoothed away. For anyone looking for a classic 90s action JRPG experience, the best entry point into the Star Ocean franchise, or a playground for power-leveling that let's you snap modern day game logic over your knee like some flimsy plywood, this is it!

This remake is a remake for the fans! The art style if fantastic, the arranged soundtrack is awesome! If you played the original 1998 game, you owe it to yourself to play this magnificient remake of a cult classic!

This was the first Star Ocean game I ever played back on the PS1 so I had to get the remastered version. I loved the new features added to this version while keeping the core/story of the game the same. Still enjoyable all these years later. I recommend this Star Ocean game to all fans of JRPGs.

A remarkable update of a legendary game - if you have played other iterations of this game and wonder if its still worth a revisit, it absolutely is! The quality of life updates, not to mention the visual and musical overhaul are massive. If you are new to the whole series? No worries, this story is aelf contained and a great way to jump in. Worth a playthrough to any JRPG fans.
