Great movie that has the feel of the original Star Trek series . I really like all 3 newer Star Trek films & consider it to be the best of the three .I actually saw it twice in the theater lol. I grew up watching reruns of the original series & feel all the newer actors do proper justice to their original series counterparts . Loved the steelbook packaging also . Very nice for collectors. Only negative is that there is only two deleted scenes , other than that this is a 5 star movie . If you like Star Trek or even just sci fi & action films , do yourself a favor & pick up a copy of this movie and enjoy ! A must own movie for sure !

Star Trek Beyond is a 2016 American science fiction adventure film directed by Justin Lin from a screenplay by Simon Pegg and Doug Jung, based on the series Star Trek, created by Gene Roddenberry. It is the thirteenth film in the Star Trek film franchise and the third installment in the reboot series, following Star Trek (2009) and Star Trek Into Darkness (2013). Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto reprise their roles as Captain James T. Kirk and Commander Spock, with Pegg, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, and Anton Yelchin reprising their roles from the previous films. Idris Elba and Sofia Boutella also join the cast.

Wow. How could they leave her out? :( This whole reboot is so much fresher than the original series movies. TNG... that depends on the movie. The imagery is just so much better with the computer driven effects. Yorktown station... wow! Come on future, take me away. "Scotch was actually invented by an old Russian woman."... this does mark the loss of two Star Trek figures. Their loss affects Star Trek past and future. How will they replace Anton Yelchin, just really bringing more character depth? Such a loss! And I can't even say anything but... "Live long and prosper!" Fair seas and following winds Leonard Nimoy!!

Fantastic movie to see in a high def, blu ray, or any format for that matter. I viewed the blu ray version disc on my fantastic Samsung 55 inch LED smart 4K ultra HD tv (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsung-55-class-54-6-diag--led-2160p-smart-4k-ultra-hd-tv-with-high-dynamic-range-silver/5034800.p?skuId=5034800&cmp=RMX). Highly recommend. Important note: This DVD combo comes with a 4K ultra HD disc and standard blu ray disc. I was told by more than one Best Buy in store associate that the 4K disc would play on a blu ray player. They were absolutely wrong because it does not. It requires an actual 4K player.

Another Good Entry to the Franchise

The first film in the Star Trek reboot caused me to take notice of the franchise. I was never a Trekkie. I had seen the show on as a kid, and there were the many other TV shows that came after to expand on the universe, but I wasn't interested. For me, the Abrams film helped me understand the characters and it had plenty of action and special effects, elevating it from a low-budget sci-fi TV series to a full-blown blockbuster film. I was let down by Into Darkness, the followup film, so I was apprehensive about this film, but there were positive reviews overall. Seeing it, I thought it was a good film. The characters were interesting and they told a good story without too much grandiose storytelling or overuse of nostalgia. I will need to revisit it again to see if my opinion changes.

This is not fully a review of the movie itself, which is better covered at other websites, but of the Steel book Blu-ray with DVD and digital copy. I really enjoy this movie and for the third movie the cast is really coming into their own as an ensemble. The steel book is attractive, although it is starting to fill my shelf. It included the Bluray which is amazing on my HD 4K tv and also on DVD which I don't know why it still is included, when there is the digital copy. I was able to use the digital copy on Ultraviolet and it is the HD version which is also great if you go digital in your collection.

    Rebirth and Beyond

Star Trek from its beginnings has brought social problems to the screen no matter the criticism or the taboo and this is demonstrated by this new premiere where it presents the familiar composition in the future, this film has more than a touch of comedy for those who know the Roll of each character and remember the previous films (very important), presents action, combat and even there is an air of a future romance to see how this develops. It is lamentable of the loss of the actor Anton Yelchin who personified to Pavel Chekov, in its Russian character in development that it’s have much to offer.

I saw this in the theater and couldn't wait for the bluray release. Fast & Furious direct Justin Lin takes over from J.J Abrams and does a fantastic job at carrying on what was already established and also making it his own. The characters we know and love are in peril after the Enterprise crashed and have to pair up and work together to survive. Amazing action scenes, spectacular special effects and all the great actors are back. RIP to Anton Yelchin in his last role as Checkov. A must own in my opinion and one of the better releases of 2016. Pick this up and enjoy it again and again. I know I am.

Return to 2009's Star Trek Form

Never been a fan of Star Trek and I'm still not. However, this rebooted franchise has made me enjoy these sci-fi films. I think Beyond went back to what worked in the 2009 film and had fun again. I loved the new character, Jayla. She felt fresh and fun and was a character I think the films needed to shake things up. Plus, she's another strong female character that can go toe to toe with anyone and the films needed that beside Uhura. Loved her relationship with Scotty. I hope to see more of her moving forward ( I know another film is in works). Idris Elba plays the villain, which he has played a lot of in 2016 and I enjoyed him. Overall, I enjoyed this film. It continues to expand upon the character development we've seen from the first film and I want to see more.

I'm 100% a Star Trek Fan. I have every movie, all TV series and even special videos like YouTube. With the reboot in 2009 I'm so impressed with the route Paramount has taken it. The new crew are all perfect in every way. Each movie has been better than the last....but Beyond has done just that.....gone Beyond. The storyline is outstanding in every way. Acting is running at Warp Speed, and the new actress who plays the alien Jayla help bind it all together. You have good guys, bad guys, heroes, awesome special effects galore. Next to The Wrath of Khan this is my favorite Star Trek movie.

Whether you are or not a Star Trek fan, this feature delivers enough action, fun, and thrills to be worthy of being added to your collection. The USS Enterprise gang journeys far beyond and fights its way out of trouble and dear danger as they learn how much they care for each other and how far they'll go to protect the crew. Our heroes are as usual, charming, endearing, funny, and daring as they face the dangers of the unknown. Also, this film gives us the last chance to see gone-too-soon actor Anton Yelchin play nerdy and brainy admiral Chekov. You will be missed Mr. Chekov.

Great movie. I'm a star trek fan from the 1960's. It was great back then and getting better all the time with the making of all the movies these days. The blue Ray player and the HD smart TV along with the home theatre system allows you to enjoy the movies from home. The picture quality is awesome on Ultra HDTV. I have a Samsung 65 inch smart TV with the latest sound bar that come with 11 built-in speakers. Awesome sound quality along with an extraordinary pictures on the Samsung setup. If you're into watching movies from home on your home theater system this movie is worth watching.

I love the first Trek, I like Into Darkness but I like this one a lot, probably more than 2 and not as much as 1. Terrific movie though. Director Justin Lin did a wonderful job here and he made what really felt like the first Star Trek film that felt like an episode of Star Trek. The audio and picture quality are absolutely top notch. While Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness were, in fact, remastered in native 4K for their UHD releases and shot on 35mm film, Star Trek Beyond was shot digitally in 3.4K digital on Arri Alexa. The film was ultimately mastered in 2K and the same goes for the vfx, 2K, and to my knowledge, they upscaled the 2K master for the UHD, so, IMO, this 1080 blu-ray release is the better choice over the 2160 UHD (Fake 4K) and cheaper.

Clearly this movie got great reviews from critics much more qualified than me, so there isn't anything I can add in that regard. However, I want to comment about the HDR experience. The colors burst from the screen and the blacks are amazing in contrast. I was skeptical about HDR before this movie...Not anymore. I saw this movie w/ my sister while in Grapevine, TX, right before she left for Kuwait w/ the Army National Guard, so that made this movie a little more special. Admitting that, though, this was probably the best new STs of the three so far released. There's always one spot in these movies that I find hard to suspend my disbelief. For this one, it was the fight scene in the enemy camp w/ Captain Kirk on the bike. Before and after that, the movie is great. (Obviously, that's a personal opinion). The Blu-Ray version of this is movie looks amazing on my 32" SmarTV.

I do not think that ST: Beyond gets enough credit. It played more like an episode of Star Trek, where the scale wasn't as large considering that they were stranded on another planet. Still, I like it better than Darkness and the fact that it played an good homage to Leonard Nimoy. It cause the current Spock to focus on his mortality and consider leaving the team. The same went for Kirk in terms of the long term mental wear it took on his body being gone so long. I don't recall the past TV episodes or movies going into this area, which is good and realistic. Overall, if I had to rank all 3 movies then it would be 1, 3, and 2. I wish the marketing for this movie was better. The original trailer did it no justice to how good it really was.

Of the three new continuity films, I think I enjoyed this one the most. The Blu-Ray was high quality, with no issues to get in the way of enjoying the movie. Being a classic Trek fan, the movies themselves are somewhat hit and miss for me, but I do like them. If you can accept the new actors and the new look and a few things like odd laws of physics, you will probably enjoy these movies as action flicks. As Star Trek, there were a lot of good moments in this one, but it is not a deep film by any means. Enjoy it as a popcorn scifi film, not to be taken too seriously.

I didn't get to see this in theaters, but took a chance and pre-ordered it from Best Buy. I was not disappointed! I am a huge Star Trek fan, so I wanted to add this to my 4K collection. I already watched it twice in one week. Watching the characters traverse through Yorktown starbase in Ultra HD is very cool. The details and colors provide one heck of an eye-popping, action-packed experience. I recommend this should be on any Trekkie's list to purchase this holiday season (or "Beyond"). Go for the 4K if you have the gear (TV and player), you won't be disappointed!

As usual, this film in the rebooted Star Trek series has a superb soundtrack and spectaular visual effects. The sets, costumes and makeup are second to none. The script was adequately paced and the film was well edited. However, even more so than in prior installments, the acting was unimpressive but it was still suffficiently immitative of the original crew. And as if the plot devices had been taken from Romulan pulp fiction, the story was weird and a bit confusing at times. Overall, "Beyond" is a good film, but it just does seem to make the leap to warp speed.
