Good deal for all three "Kelvin" Star Trek Movies

I am a diehard Star Trek fan who grew up watching the Original series in syndication. The new movies are okay. Chris Pine actually has developed into a fairly decent Kirk. I have a lot of complaints with each of these movies, but overall I think they are decent and entertaining. My favorite is Star Trek Into Darkness. While I wish they didn't try and re-tred Khan's story, if you ignore that point (and his magical fountain-of-youth blood) that movie is actually quite solid. And this collection is the only way to get all the extra bonus material that was included with retailer-specific bluray releases.

    Star Trek “What if...” versions

I had my doubts, but these first two films set in an alternate timeline are fun to watch over and over again. As a fan of all Star Trek shows and movies, I treat these Kelvin timeline films as “What ifs...”, and enjoy them in that way.

I got this originally from my local library and like the behind the scenes that came with the movies.

    5 stars but some controversy

This was released as an apology to serious Trekkies who practically rioted online over Paramount's parceling out of special features on individual releases across vendors. And then what did they do on Star Trek Beyond? Parceled them out again! But whatever. As a product unto itself it's a great little set. But the repackaged version of this set is superior. Sleeker thinner case. The first release (which I have) is unnecessarily space consuming.

I'm giving this 4 out of 5 stars for a couple reasons. The packaging is really bad for this and I know that's a minor complaint. The main thing is that they are forcing us to rebuy the first movie which is already identical to what is included in this set. It was really only necessary to re-release the first movie with the IMAX and all the special features. Overall though, I say this is great for people that didn't previously own either of the movies. Just don't expect my for the packaging. It's quite flimsy.

The Release You've Been Waiting For

For many when Star Trek (2009) was originally released the adoption of BluRay wasn't yet a sure thing so many opted for the DVD version. The compendium provides the movie and all the now hard to find special features. This is also the definitive collection for Star Trek Into Darkness as it was released over multiple store specific special packages and this release combines them all.

IMAX and Special features finally available.

I was bummed that the Paramount didn't offer all special features and the IMAX version of Into Darkness, but they have made up for it by offering fans the Compedium (Although it is bundled with the first Star Trek movie) the extra special features and the IMAX scenes are immersive and the extra resolution does make a difference.

    Worth a Double-Dip?

What separates this set apart is IMAX aspect ratio on select scenes in the "Into Darkness" film, and the bonus features on that title that were previously spread out across multiple retail exclusives. Either you like the new Trek films or you don't, but the new release may not be enough for those who bought the prior versions of the two films. Shame they didn't include a 3D version of "Into Darkness" in this set.

This version includes the IMAX version of the movie that should have been issued originally. Yes, you have to buy the first reboot - again - but companies deserve support when they correct errors. Just don't support them when they don't put out every-single-special-feature-and-correct-aspect-ratio complete packages.

Although I enjoy the first of JJ Abrams Star Trek reboot more than the second, it's great to have both in a box set together with some nice extra bonus features. The case is a little flimsier than it looked in the store with the wrapping on it, but overall, a really nice package and I'm happy to own it!

Though the transfer for Star Trek is identical to its basic release, the presentation for Into Darkness contains a number of large-format IMAX shots, scenes and sequences, running anywhere from a matter of moments to several minutes. Only downside Is the packaging feels cheap and I don't feel it will hold up over time

Comes with the 2009 reboot and Into Darkness with all the previously released bonus features plus 3 brand new ones. The only way to get more background on the stories is to read the countdown comic mini series and play the game.

I liked both movies and was tired of waiting for TBS or FX and cable to show them, so I bought the 2 disc set and can watch the movies whenever I want to now! Love the action, special effects and new crew (but I am die hard old Trekkie crew fan too).

The best way to get Star Trek and Into Darkness

Packaging is nice, if a bit flimsy, but unless you need 3D, it's the best presentation of either / both films. Into Darkness is presented here with all of the features dispersed among the initial Blu-ray offerings as retail exclusives, plus a few extras.

Love this set, especially since I price matched frys.com when they had it for 19.99. The IMAX scenes alone make this worth a buy for me. But the amount of extras also make it a good one to own!

Held back one star because Star Trek Into Darkness should have been released in this iteration the first time. This release now has all of the special features that were split amongst several retailers as exclusives the first time it was released. It is a plus to have the IMAX version as well. Great looking and sounding Blu-ray.

Though you may be double-dipping on this item, I think the inclusion of new features for Into Darkness made this worthwhile. The only complaint I have is the IMAX home experience, wherein the aspect ratio changes during the big action sequences.

Yes it was dumb, stupid, annoying, unnecessary and cruel for all of Into Darkness' bonus features to be scattered amongst various store exclusives wasn't it? Well you know you want them all, and this has them all. Need we say more?

I got this on sale, which made it a no brainer for me to buy. The movies are great. I'm not big into special features, but supposedly this set has them all. The packaging is really nice. No complaints here.
