I've been a fan of Next Generation since I was a kid. When we moved into the house we live in now, it was the first thing we watched on tv while eating pizza. Previously, I bought the first season of the show on blu-ray and the picture quality is amazing...though takes a little getting used to after 20 some odd years of seeing standard definition reruns. There is a great feature on the blu-rays that shows what they had to do to restore and remaster the show for blu-ray. It's definitely worth the watch. With the increased clarity of the picture, I'm constantly picking out things on the screen that I've never noticed in all my years of watching this show on tv. That's a lot of fun. Two nitpicks I have with this set. One, the discs are overlapping...which isn't cool. At least they're blu-rays and don't scratch as easily as dvd. And at least you don't have to slide them in and out of cardboard sleeves like you do with the Universal Monsters blu-ray set. (which is why I opted to pick up the UK version of that set) The other nitpick I have with the set is that every single one of the 41 discs are the exact same colour and it's a bit hard to tell which discs you're taking out. I though the surround sound would be distracting, but aside from a few small environmental effects, it sounds like it's stereo. You can't even tell that it's surround sound most of the time. If you're a fan of Star Trek, you should pick this set up.

Overall, this is a great set with (mostly) great quality HD display and sound. It has all the episodes that I remembered and liked as well as others that I had forgotten. There were display resolution hiccups here and there in some scenes that didn't look high rez. But those moments were few and far between. One disk was fairly smudged that didn't work properly until it was cleaned. The disks are difficult to get out of their case (the same issue as with the TOS anniversary set and Star Trek Enterprise), so be careful removing the disks or they could crack -- you almost need to move the disk around the as you're trying to lift it off.

Long time Trek nerd here -- grew up watching TOS with Kirk & Spock (as reruns) and have happy memories of my whole family gathering together each week to watch a fresh, new episode of TNG as it aired. I love this series and I love this set. When the DVDs of TNG were first released way back when, I bought each season and loved them all. When the Blu Rays originally came out (season by season) I decided not to pull the trigger since I had the DVD copies. Now I am so glad that I waited!! To get the entire series, all seven seaons, in one box set at an amazing price is, well, amazing! But even better than the price is the absolutely FANTASTIC remastering. I expected the quality of the Blu Rays to look nicer than the DVDs obviously, but the remastering that was done to these is sublime! I have mixed feelings about the remastering of TOS as the new graphics often look out-of-place in a 60s TV set, but here the remastering fits beautifully and is absolute eye candy. One thing I was a little disappointed in, however, was how the discs are organized in the box. My DVD set had one box per season, with 6-7 discs per box. This box set has two mega-cases, the first holding 23 discs spanning Seasons 1-4 and the second holding 18 discs spanning Seasons 5-7. It's not a huge let down, but I did prefer the convenience of the individual box sets. I also appreciated that the DVD sets had different color discs for each season -- here, all 41 discs are the same light blue color, making it rather difficult to tell them apart or organize them at first glance. But these are minor nitpickings and overall I am very happy with this set... the real gem is the viewing quality of the remaster, and for that I give this set 5 stars. Now, get yourself a set and "Boldly Go!"

After getting pricey single season releases spread out over a few years, they decided to shove all the season into one package deal. This was $99 on release week and a STEAL at that if you ask me. Like the original series, they did a fantastic job in restoring these episodes, going back to the original film negatives and creating new visual effects when needed - back then shows were shot on film, but then that film was transferred over to thick analogue tape then edited digitally, but in standard definition. This is also where the visual effects for this particular show were done, so there was no other option than re-doing the effects as 90's era CGI effects done in 480i uprezzed to 1080 look TERRIBLE. Thankfully, it all looks great here in blu-ray and the sound is also some top notch work, creating surround sound tracks for all the episodes. Also full of bonus material, this set is great for a Trek fan and the compression quality still kills that of HD broadcasts on cable or the HD streams on netflix of the show.

I have always enjoyed Star Trek TNG and have all 7 seasons DVD special edition volumes in my collection. So when I originally saw this item released at Best Buy I did not expect to purchase it. Upon examining the package and excellent price I decided to give it a try and I am glad I made this purchase. As expected, the Blu-ray video quality is excellent. Additional new special features are enjoyable and appreciated. I also appreciated the quality plastic cases and disc holder packaging to hold all 176 episodes in 2 shelf-friendly cases/packages. (Seasons 1-4, and Seasons 5-7). Yes some concessions were made to keep the package costs down. Notably overlapping 2 discs per side of the individual disc trays and lack of a booklet listing all seasons, episodes, and special features. However, all the discs and plastic disc carriers are contained together essentially as a "book-type" package sitting inside the outer plastic case. Episode information is clearly listed and easily read on the inside of the plastic case when the "book of discs" is removed. The discs themselves are clearly marked with individual Season and Disc numbers. Overall, this is a great set/package for those who would like to collect and own ST-TNG on Blu-ray!

It's Star Trek what more can you say. Love all of the series and movies.

We recently decided to purchase Star Trek: The Next Generation on blu-ray to enjoy increased visual fidelity compared to what's available on streaming services. In that respect, we weren't disappointed. The image quality is great and noticeably better than the version available on Netflix, the menus are well done, and we're excited to have access to the special features (though we haven't watched them yet). The problem, though, is that the packaging of this product is truly awful. Getting the discs out of their casing is extremely difficult -- every time we try to take a disc out, it feels like we're at severe risk of breaking the disc, the packaging or both. Ditto for putting a disc back into the casing. Given the risk to the discs in their original packaging, we will likely purchase a separate disc folio for this set. Based on the content alone, I would give this product 5/5 stars, but the packaging is so bad that I have to take a star off. I hope that the packaging is redesigned for the next time that this series is re-released on blu-ray.

can not get bored to watch. been watching since it came out.

I'm glad to have the entire series of Star Trek The Next Generation on Blu-Ray. The upscaling and clean up is done well. A little grainy in some of the dark areas, (mostly the blacks and dark blues) and an occasional hue change but not much. Infinitely better than my VHS recordings of broadcast TV. So much more detail has come to life in these disks that I didn't realize how much I missed before. An excellent job by CBS. As for the packaging, I personally have been fighting disk removal from the retainers for 30 years and these are no different. Some pop right out, some fight me pretty good. Don't think I'll ever get used to it but what are you gonna do?. If your thinking about buying this series go ahead and do it. You won't be disappointed.

They did an excellent job restoring this show. They had an excellent team of people, many who were part of the original shooting and effects teams, who poured love into recreating tons of effects and cleanup work making sure to stay true to each original artist's vision for each art piece. The HD transfer is great and the multi-channel remix works well with out being gimmicky. Happy that I can share this with my kids now as there are lots of lessons to be learned from this show on ethics, humanity and science.If the idea of owning a great restored TNG, then you won't be disappointed. The extras are fun to watch as well.

A great compilation Blu-ray set of a classic series. While the set doesn’t have a whole lot in the way of printed extras or inserts, this is a great way to own the entire series on Blu-ray. This set contains all episodes and all special features contained on the individual season sets. Definitely a good value for the price if you were looking to own the entire series in a space saving way.

When I noticed that the complete series was going to be re-released and that it was only going to cost $100, I knew it was finally time to purchase. Up til the point of this release the cheapest you could generally find the seasons separately was usually around $60 so to purchase all the seasons you were looking at several hundred dollars so yeah, $100 is definitely a bargain! I have noticed its slightly increased in price since the initial release but the small increase is still very reasonable for such a great set of such a great series!

The BluRay version of this series is really well done. A lot of remake to HD are usually really over done and make the picture worse. But not this classic version. I’ve only gotten through two seasons and so far I’m really impressed with the picture and sound. If you a fan the 90’s series this is a must to consider. I never watched them on dvd, usually they are on network, but to be able to sit down with no distractions is refreshing. Definitely worth every penny.

I have been a long time fan of Star Trek: The Next Generation and really enjoyed the sample blu-rays that were released a couple years ago. The picture, sound, and special features were all up to speed for the HD era, but the price for each season was a little hard to swallow again. Now this set has been released, the entire run of TNG and the special features from the previous releases in an affordable package. I cannot recommend this set more to people who have been looking to pickup TNG on blu-ray.

I've collected all the Star Trek series in multiple formats, starting with DVD. Every time a new version comes along, I am tempted to buy it, but I refrain because I know my wife will probably question why would I buy something that I already have. The Start Trek The Next Generation HD version had such high quality, that she for once didn't question me buying it. Yes, it is that good.

This set is cheap. And by that I mean both in price and quality. The case is made of very flimsy, nearly paper-thin plastic. The disc insert is not even attached to the case so be careful that you don't drop the entire set when opening for the first time (very easy to accidentally do). There are no notes, no inserts, and the discs are just kind of all together with no season separation, so there is no way way of separating seasons from each other except for light, incredibly difficult-to-read printing on the discs themselves. This set is the very definition of no-frills. However, it's also only $100, and for that you get every episode and special feature of the individual season sets. If all you're after are the blurays and don't care about anything else like acceptable packaging and presentation, then this is the box set for you!

If you are looking at this you are likely already familiar with the series. While you can also watch this on netflix, the blu ray gives you so many extras that you won't get from a streaming service. Anyone who is a fan will enjoy the wealth of content and if you don't already own any of the individual seasons on blu ray, then this is the best way to get them!

To have the entire TNG series collected, remastered on blu ray and with fantastic sound is about as good as it gets. Nice box art and the series is surprisingly well compacted in it the two cases that contain all the eps. It's a little tricky navigating through the cases and I wonder about their ability to hold up long term but overall a great collection for possibly the best series ever.

I am a lifetime fan of Star Trek and was very glad I happened into Best Buy when this was on sale for $109.99! NO ONE could match this price! Not Amazon, not even eBay! I always try Best Buy FIRST when shopping anything electronics, video, or music! The whole Star Trek: The Next Generation series on BD.... GOTTA HAVE IT... and now I do!
