I don't understand why they wouldn't release all six original films in one 4K collection. With that said, it's nice to have these four, especially since it features the Director's Cut of "The Wrath of Kahn." Although if you're also looking for the Director's Cut of "The Motion Picture," you might want to wait until next year's 4K release. Anyhoo, the movies have never looked so detailed, with deep blacks where they should be. And the sound is pretty great. Watching these in 4K, especially if you have a big screen, is almost like seeing them for the first time.

The transfer for all of these movies was excellent, my only complaint really is that They use the Dolby true HD soundtrack, instead of upgrading to Dolby Atmos. All of the original extras that were in the 2009 release are included, The only thing that really baffles the most of us is, why just the first four movies, why not all six. Paramount seems to be going to the Money grab and wet our appetites with this one. I did not double dip, at the time his review was posted, a new version featuring all six movies has been released, in addition to the individual releases for each film one through six. This collection of four includes five movies, two versions of Star Trek II the wrath of Khan available as a branched disc. A few years ago with the same two movies were released on a special collection desk which debuted the directors edition on Blu-ray for the first time, this is the second version of the Directors cut. The original version appeared on DVD back in 2001. The sole difference is a few pieces of removed dialogue, and perhaps a few alternate angles for some scenes. For those who are very alert, paramount has had the G rating for the motion picture removed, and now it is an NR rating, the reason being that the subsequent release of the directors edition which came out also at the same time as the six movie collection, ( available separately however) has been resubmitted to the MPAA and has been given a PG rating. Personally I'm not sure how the the adding of special effects, warranted a change from G to PG, It, how clever could be related to the new dialogue cotent added. Just to avoid confusion, the 1979 theatrical version of the motion picture is the only one included in this set.

I purchased this because I was eager to watch The Motion Picture on my new 4K TV and it looks great. However, as I knew would be the case, they are now releasing a set with all 6 movies as well as stand alone discs. The advantage to this and the 6-movie set that (as of now) it's the only way to get the Theatrical Cut of ST: TMP. I can't give it higher stars knowing there's a set will a set with all 6 coming out next month.

I love the movies, but the best part of this box is the 4k restoration of the movies - especially The Motion Picture (TMP) and Search for Spock (III)). Stunning quality. Wrath of Khan and Voyage Home already looked great in HD. But TMP and III always looked grainy. I look forward to the 4K Director's Cut of TMP as well as 4K IV and VI.

Only 4 stars cuz missing Star Trek V and VI , but who watches STAR TREK V anyways. These movies shine in 4k all glorious remastered ,and directors cut of the motion picture. The blurays are remastered too, they aren't the 2009 blu rays, these have been color corrected and wrath of khan has both directors cut n theatrical version . No director's cut from voyage home . Still worth the buy....even better on sale Bodly Go

This is only a review of the movies being released in 4K. This is a MUST BUY for any Star Trek or Sci Fi fan. The 4K brings out details and the Dolby Atmos is best heard and seen in a top notch video set up in the house. The only question now is when will Paramount release 5 through 9 of the movies (i.e. the pre-JJ Abrams series

A very good presentation of some of my favorite films. The color was so much better than the blurays, DVDs, or VHS' I have had 8n the past. Their decision to keep the film grain gave you way more depth and detail. It can get heavy at times but it's much better than the waxy look the DNR offered on the previous blurays.

I good collection in 4K. All movies are notable improvements above the previous blu-ray editions. Hopefully Star Trek 6 (along with Star Trek 5, which I have no interest in ever seeing again) will soon follow suit. And I also hope the Next Gen films (especially First Contact) will also be released in time.

Purchased the 4k boxset star trek movies 1-4. Best honestly that it has ever looked and probably will ever look, great color rendering detail etc..Audio isnt Dolby Atmos but that is an expensive process to do with older movies. It is in Dolby digital 5.1 or 7.1 which still sounds great..love it 5 stars!

All four STAR TREK films look better than ever. These are substantial improvements over the blurays released back in 2009 -- which suffered from an over-processed, electronic look. These new 4K discs look like actual film, and it's a treat to see these movies finally looking so nice!

This set is worth it (to me) just for the 4K update of the TMP Director's Cut, previously only available in standard definition. These four happen to be my favorite of all the Star Trek films. Massive upgrade in quality over previous releases. Highly Recommended.

Love the Star Trek saga, been a fan since the early 70s. Had to think about dipping into the new remastered disc since I have the Blu Ray and decided to and glad I did, the films look great! Can’t wait till the rest of the films get this treatment.

While not going to be considered reference class, seeing these old movies in 4k is a treat! Some very hints of noise reduction, but all in all I am very happy with these movies I wished that Paramount had included Star Trek V & VI with this set.

If you love sci-fi, & you love space travel, then these are the movies for you. Not to mention these movies are in beautiful 4K Ultra HD! In my opinion, that alone is worth the price of admission.

Worth the purchase for the 7 channel audio track alone. The picture quality is excellent, and they did a good job of transferring it. Normally I only watch about a movie a week. With this set, I played them back to back.

I think given the age of the films these 4K transfers are stunning. I have never seen these films look this good. Considering what came before on Blu-ray these are jaw droppingly good remasters. I would have loved a complete 1-6 original crew film set. That’s the reason I can only give this 4 stars.
