My husband and I really enjoy how challenging this game can get. Our 8 year old does not and rage quit after an hour. The story line is really good as well! I definitely recommend it on graphics alone.

I haven't really been too impressed by any star wars games since knights of the old republic but this is an exception. Most of the games I really enjoy at the moment are games like bloodborne, nioh, dark souls, and this game has certain elements from those games. You progress along and eventually you find a shortcut back to your save point, and sometimes the combat can be brutal and like niohs stamina bar you have a limited amount of force so use it wisely. The games graphics are really impressive and the story is pretty good. I also like the fact that although cal is a jedi he is by no means a yoda or anakin Skywalker so you have to earn your progress. Thumbs up from me.

    Heroes of the Fallen Order

While the mechanics of the game were quite rough when I started, some patches have fixed a lot of initial issues, so I don’t feel it’s fair to let those hiccups reflect my final score. If they were more consistent, or left unfixed, I’d feel much differently. Fallen Order is an incredibly fun and beautiful adventure into the Star Wars universe. The story is very much cannon to the series, spinning off the Episode 1-3 trilogy, in which the Jedi are outlawed by Order 66. Our protagonist, Kal, a former patowan and survivor of the Order, is living life on the low. When we take control, Kal hasn’t used any of his force powers in years, and even stutters like a novice when containing them. An incident causes our hero to have to use his powers, only to draw the newly formed Empire and Vader’s Sisters right to him. And what follows is a proper Star Wars story that not only fulfills the grandiose set pieces, but also the heart of the characters involved. Save for a few existing cameos, this story presents us with an all new cast. And Kal is a Jedi hero I’d love to see in the films. This whole story would actually work as a great film, it’s incredibly cinematic. Gameplay is a collective greatest hits, taking elements from almost every great game of the last two generations, and melding it all into a cohesive and fluid experience. The saber fights and world exploration are very much influenced by the more difficult SoulsBorne Series by From Software, mainly their latest release Sekiro. While still challenging, the entire combat system is made to be a lot easier and accessible - which felt appropriate for a Star Wars game. Traversing the planets operates in the same vein, with Meditation points spread around each planet, offering XP leveling when meditating, and health refills that will cause enemies to respawn in the surrounding area. The foot-by-foot traversal resembles platforming games like Uncharted and Tomb Raider, the game even has its own version Tombs, as well as it has some flavor of games like Mario in there too. The player moves through the levels back and forth, like a Metroid game, using Meditation points to eithe explore for upgrades, or to mainline story points. The amount of exploration is ultimately up to the player, as the game allows you to go back to planets freely. Lightsabers are by far the most customizable they’ve ever been, and while mostly aesthetic, there is an upgrade to a double-sided lightsaber. There are also visual customizations for your starship and your droid, who is not only incredibly helpful, but also a great companion. The crew quarters have some charm, but ultimately end up being a shallow version of Mass Effect’s crew quarters. You can even add other members, but never was I able to actually see or speak to any of them but 1. But it serves more of a purpose than necessary, so it’s quite a cool addition in the end. Overall, the game can be difficult, but there are multiple difficulty choices to help. The gameplay is incredibly fun, blending saber fights with force powers gives a good amount of choices to experiment with. Traversal can also be challenging, but the landscape is full of puzzles and alternate routes to explore, and sometimes exploit. Boss battles are present in difficulty too, as they should be. And there plenty of action set pieces to savor a Star Wars fans saliva glands. I really hope to see more Star Wars games like this one, especially from EA, as it really shows where the series can go, and what it could offer in the video game medium.

From the first glimpses of this game I saw, I was unsure about this title, especially considering EA's previous handling of the LucasArts licensing for Star Wars titles in the past. My trepidation could not have been more misplaced. THIS GAME IS FANTASTIC! From start to finish, you can feel every bit of the struggle our main man Cal Kestis has to slog through, every narrow passageway he squeezes through, every wall he clings to and must climb, and every well done cut scene that engages you, rather than letting you take a backseat to the narrative. Now, that being said, there is a disclaimer to this seeing this story to its conclusion: this is Star Wars canon, and it fits nicely between episodes; however, the developers will make you earn every last bit of gear, and every last force power, no matter how small. If you can come to grips with the piecemeal process, and how the controls are handled, this will be a most enjoyable experience. If not, you will be pulling your hair out in frustration. With that being mentioned, it is entirely up to you: the customizations are purely for the aesthetic appeal, from how your lightsaber looks and glows, to how you dress your character and his sidekick BD-1, all the way down to how Greez's ship is painted. The adventure is yours, and the force awaits those strong enough to endure its teachings. Carry on young padawan.

EA for the longest time has as a company refused to listen to the consumer in the sense that we STILL BELIEVE that a SINGLE PLAYER based game is important! Sometimes, we don't need multiplayer! And honestly, Respawn was the perfect Developer to work on this. They put some good games in the Titanfall series and Apex Legend. They really knocked this one out of the park. Voice Acting: A graphics: A- Soundtrack: It's Star Wars, of course A+! Story: B+ Controls, Gameplay: A+ The game controls somewhat like an easy Dark Souls. I loved it. The lightsaber combat is the best we've seen since the Jedi Knight series. I loved the crew of characters you meet. Cal is a great and lovable protagonist. The main antagonist and side villains were all pretty interesting. You get some new and old locations. I believe there were a total of 5 planets? Because of this, I think I got around 15 hours of gameplay. I would have liked more, but its a good start for what I hope is a continuing story. (Whether its from this same one or perhaps another era, such as the Clone Wars) Overall, very happy with my purchase. I'd say its even still worth it if it's full price! C'mon. It's obvious. If you love Star Wars, you'll love this.

Leave it to Respawn Entertainment, the makers of TitanFall 2, to make a fantastic Star Wars game. The best way to describe Star Wars: Fallen Order is that it is an amalgamation of Dark Souls, Metroid and God of War. You have gameplay that consists of combat like Dark Souls (i.e. Legend of Zelda combat), areas that are locked off until you get the skills like in Metroid and the climbing and wall running in God of War. There is a bit of puzzle solving in the game too; puzzles that are not that hard to solve with a bit of patience. The graphics are amazing, including the environmental graphical designs. I am playing this on a PS4 Pro with a 1080p HDTV and the game's graphics are very detailed in the same fashion as Star Wars movies. You can see planets or suns off in the distance. You have very lush and detailed scenery. The enemies are varied and fun to look at. Plus, you have ships that take off in the background that are connected to the story. The best part is being in your ship that takes you to different planets. Very detailed for something that is meant to whisk you away to different areas. Speaking of story, the story seems to connect Episode 3 and Episode 4 together. I won't spoil anything, but I think I can see where this story is going, which would lead to Episode 4 after about 4 or 5 hours in. Cal (the hero) is a very likeable character, as is his interaction with BD1, his companion throughout the game. The main villain seems cool too, albeit a very typical Darth Vader or Kylo Ren type villain. If you are at all hesitant about picking this up because it is an "EA shovelware" game, don't be. This game is fun for fans of all ages. There are no microtransactions or DLC at the time of writing my review. Star Wars: Fallen Order is basically the entire game for one price. Something we rarely see in modern games. Definitely check this game out if you need something new to play.

This is not only a great Star Wars game, but a great game overall. It is fun, has a great story, good game play, and makes it fun to use a lightsaber and force. My biggest complaint about the game is how quickly you go through your force power. It makes you think more about how to go into a battle and when to use the force so you have it when you need it. However, that isn't a bad thing. It had a satisfying and left me wanting to know what comes next for these characters.

I have been waiting for a single player Star Wars game for a very long time and Respawn nailed it. Plenty of Star Wars canon and great gameplay. There is some freedom in the path and way you want to approach your objectives and AI engagements. The graphics are great. Overall a great experience. I really hope that more campaign Star Wars games are developed in the future like maybe a Mandalorian or bounty hunter game or even a sith story to shake things up.

I was really surprised by this game, it sucked me in with the story and it has such a satisfying gameplay loop that I couldn’t get enough and almost immediately started a new play through. My only complaints is that it can be a little glitchy with textures popping, and frame drops when getting into a new area(playing on ps4 pro) but it wasn’t enough to impact the experience too bad. 10/10 one of favorite games of recent years

This game is different from every other Star Wars game that I have played. This game is more like Dark Souls or bloodborne. It is interesting because the story isn't linear and you can choose your own path and how to complete it. Fighting is challenging but rewarding and the upgrade system really feels like it helps you in your journey while overcoming obstacles. The story is great and the characters are interesting.
