Overall review of the "Skywalker Saga" 9 movie Set

Having been a long time fan of the series, starting on the infamous date for all SW fans, 25 May 1977, I was eager to get this set and have all the movies in UHD 4K. This set does NOT include the SW stories "Solo" and "Rogue One". I will be getting "Rogue One" separately for the 4K as I have "Solo". The box itself is decent, it has a leather like feel to it and opens up on the sides to reveal a middle "silver book" that contains all the discs and original artwork from each of the 9 movies. The movie pages have the 4K and Blu-ray disc housed in their own respective sleeves on the upper right corner and are labeled as such when you remove them. Removing them is a sticking point, but as with anything disc, you have to handle with care. They are a bit tight as this is a new set and I think over time it will loosen a bit for each disc. The outer black case does not line up absolutely on the line, and that is a bit of a disappointment when it comes to the Death Star graphic on the front, but that is a minor thing to me. It's not handmade by Rolls Royce. The 9 bonus discs are pretty good, but NOT all the material for each movie is in THIS set. There is new material, interviews, etc. for this set mixed with original material brought over from the 2011 9 disc set. You can find more on the 3 bonus discs that came with that Blu-ray set. Keep those 3 discs if you have it. Also, the 2004 Star Wars Trilogy "Bonus Material" DVD is exceptional with the vintage IV-VI trilogy content. Has ALL the trailers for those three movies and the EPIC documentary "Empire Of Dreams". That to me, is THE documentary for the original trilogy. This is NOT on this 2020 Box Set. Some of the vintage trailers are on the bonus discs for IV-VI. Episode IX does NOT have any deleted/extended scenes on the bonus disc. Why? I don't know. I do believe there is much footage that could have been added here. We get a "Skywalker Saga" documentary, rather it's a behind the scenes 2 hour video mostly about VII-IX with a little bit of footage from IV-VI added in here and there. No mention of Episodes I-III at all. The plus here for me is the total package, although the disc sleeves may have been better, it doesn't appear they will scratch easily as the material behind it is slick. They are tight on the sides, but I believe over time it will loosen a bit. Handle with care as always. We get all the movies on UHD 4K with newer prints. The original trilogy (IV-VI) has never looked better. No, it does NOT contain the 1977, 1980, 1983 theatrical releases with all mistakes and film defects inherent in those, even now in later format releases (VHS box sets/1995 THX Laserdisc sets). You will never see those on a UHD 4K set. George made it clear many years ago, that the movies that were originally seen on the screen in those years were not the complete vision he had at the time. He couldn't do alot of things he wanted because of the limits of technology at the time. So, he basically had to wait unitl the movie technology caught up. Even if this set is not the most perfect one, I do like it, but it could have been better overall for content and the placement of discs in the sleeves. Artwork is well done and the artwork on the discs are well done, too. A solid 4 Stars.

If you’re a die-hard Star Wars fan and you don’t mind spending a chunk of money, then buy this set! The “Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga 9-Movie Collection” Box Set includes all 9 Star Wars films in 4K Ultra HD/Blu-Ray discs and digital copies: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace, Episode II - Attack of the Clones, Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, Episode IV - A New Hope, Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back, Episode VI - Return of the Jedi, Episode VII - The Force Awakens, Episode VIII - The Last Jedi and Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker; this set does not include the spin-offs, “Solo” and “Rogue One”. This box set also includes a collectible outer box showing The Death Star from the franchise, a collectible artbook showcasing artworks from various artists for each movie, an exclusive letter signed & printed by Mark Hamill who played Luke Skywalker in the franchise and digital codes for each movie. BUYER BEWARE: If you love collecting things and don’t mind spending this much money, then go ahead! I grew up with this franchise since I was a kid and because my father got me into Star Wars, I was in love with it, so buying this box set was worth every penny! Other than having a hard time getting the discs out from the art book’s sleeves, I have no problem with this set. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!

I knew one day I would have all nine episodes in 4K. I hoped that they would make them sharp and the sound phenomenal. I wanted that experience of reliving the entire Skywalker saga in a new way. This set delivers! My first test was Episode 4. I wasn’t sure what to expect. When the 20th Century Fox splash with the fanfare came on, it sounded the same. So I thought maybe they didn’t do anything to the soundtrack. The screen moved to A Long Time Ago, In A Galaxy Far Away.... And then it exploded. The orchestral depth was there, the force of percussion and brass was there. In my surround sound filled room it sounded as if I was looking up at John Williams as he was conducting on a sound stage. The movie progressed and as the Tantive IV spanned across the screen followed by the ISS Debstator, the visual sharpness was spectacular. The color was clearly more defined and deeper. R2 and 3PO were scuffed and tarnished vividly. The corridors and lasers were crisp and as intended. It shines but in a way that doesn’t diminish the era in which it was created. I haven’t plunged into the remaining movies yet. But my initial experience of this set is that it’s worth every cent. The case is very nice, the discs are stored in a hard board book with art pages and there are 9 extra content discs, along with blu rays and 4K blu rays. I highly recommend for any Star Wars fan out there.

    It’s Star Wars!

It’s Star Wars! The good, bad and ugly. Everyone has their own polarizing opinion of the Skywalker series as a whole. I.e. Disney ruined it! Not my Star Wars etc. However, we won’t discuss that. What I will tell you is that the movies look and sound absolutely awesome! I know, you can already hear the theme by famed composer John Williams now can’t you? This set comes with each 4K and blu ray copy, plus all the bonus discs for each film. Digital codes included, it even contains a letter written by old Luke himself Mr. Mark Hamil. The collectible case is a nice homage to the Death Star and houses the collection nicely. The only negative I see is these discs are packed in tighter than Chewbacca in a Tie fighter. With that in mind, if you are careful you won’t rip the casing taking these little jewels out. Overall a great buy , but a little better execution on the disc placement would give it a 5.

This is a gorgeous box set with two exceptions. The glue that holds the info sheet to the box set left discoloration on the box when removed. Also, I've never cared for the type of sleeves that hold the discs into boxes like this one does. I do not like having to touch anything other than the outside of the disc. Other box sets like this have left scratches on the discs. Time will tell if that will be the case with this box set. Both of these are disappointing in a $250 box set. The video & audio on the discs are both exceptional. The 1080p blu rays looks amazing on my home theater projector with the audio is immersive in 5.1.2 Atmos. The 4K discs are stunning on my 4K Sony TV in my living room with very good audio on a Klipsch soundbar. I have yet to stream any movie on any my Roku players.

Just wow. Regardless of how you may feel about the prequel trilogy or sequel trilogy, this is an amazing box set. First off, to have the original trilogy in 4K is fantastic. Yes, it's yet another iteration of them, but still fantastic nonetheless. Hopefully the original theatrical versions will become available at some point. But this box set has it all. All 9 films in 4K and blu-ray. Hours upon hours of bonus behind the scenes material. The packaging is just beautiful and top notch. While it may be a little pricey, the box set cost is actually cheaper than buying them all on 4K individually, unless you don't want all 9 films. But well worth it IMHO.

Absolutely Beautiful packaging for the set, I personally have no problem with book style sleeves for the discs. The films look and sound fantastic! The original trilogy looks like it was filmed yesterday it's so clear! Decent bonus material though I do wish they included the extras from the 2004 DVD set, other than that small gripe I absolutely love the set.

Haven’t had a chance to watch them yet but I’m finally off the next two days from work and I’m gonna start binge watching all 9 movies. The packaging is great and the booklet inside plus there’s a bonus disc for each movie for a total of 27 discs...all 9 movies on 4K, all 9 movies on Blu Ray and all 9 movies with there own bonus disc. Not to mention all 9 movies digital copy codes.

This is probably not going to be anyones first collection of starwars at home, but this is the first time you will get the prequels and original trilogy in 4k. The image quality is amazing. Now, no one is going to confuse the original films as being made yesterday with this new transfer, but this is the best it has ever looked. The extras are great too as I'm up to the extras on the newer films.

This is an awesome and a nice set ever release for a Star Wars movie. It comes packaged inside this cool box the opens and reveal a book that has art and behind the scene pictures on it along with each movie in 4K and Blu Ray. And to top it all a letter from Mark Hamill and digital copy of each movie in 4K. The only problem is getting the disc out of the sleeves without scratching it.

Absolutely amazing!!! Seeing the original movies in 4K is like seeing them for the first time again, The Prequel and Sequel trilogies were made for 4K. The behind the scene for each movie had its own Blu-ray oh and the Blu-ray for all 9 movies too. The art work and box design is a dream. I literally have it out in my wall unit for decor. Every Star Wars fan needs this!!

This is a absolutely awesome set. I have never owned these movies, for some reason or another I just never got around to getting them. So this has been a loooong time coming. So far, they look absolutely gorgeous on 4K. Better than I have ever seen them. I am a happy camper!

This is the ultimate collectors item for Star Wars fans. The original trilogy transfers look great and the presentation is incredible. These look and sound better than the Disney+ versions. ONE CON - getting the discs out of the packaging is impossible. I moved my discs to another case and am leaving this set up as a display piece.

Every Star Wars fan should get this. Worth every penny. The 4k digital copy can be redeemed on Movies Anywhere. The discs will be displayed and untouched. After ten years, Disney will release another set of sequels. Wonder what format will it be. And I will purchase it.
