I know the album dropped early in the year, but discovering this record months into a pandemic made for surreal comfort. He calls it “country music for people who don’t like country music,” and I suppose that fits. It has a lot of what I like about country music, but it is also very psychedelic and rather confessional, albeit in a somewhat elliptical way. Favorite album in this weird year.
