A great gaming keyboard amongst greats

Best Buy carries several brands of high end gaming keyboards. My local store has a display of each of them that you can interact with. I purchased this one based on SteelSeries reputation and how the keys felt. There are many great features about the Apex Pro but arguably key switches is the most important. The Apex Pro has an app included that allows you to manage the switches and customize switch sensitivity to your preference. Each gamer has their own preference and this keyboard adjusts to you. The app also assists you in creating custom macros for a higher end gaming experience and I really enjoy the ability to create custom RGB color schemes. The second most significant thing, but really just as important as the switches is how comfortable it is to use for long term gaming. the magnetically detachable wrist rest is very comfortable and sloped just right for my sitting position. I tried a different keyboard based on a strong recommendation and it was quickly apparent that it was not going to be comfortable. There is a built in roller on the keyboard that will allow you to change your profiles with a simple roll. You can also adjust volume, rewind video, adjust brightness all from the keyboard. The three way cable routing allows you to have the cable laid out the direction that is best for you. You can adjust the illumination for each key and store it to a profile. it also has a USB port My final thought on this keyboard is that it is built for serious gaming and is suitable for all other uses.

The best keyboard I have ever purchased!!! Keys feel great, the speed is amazing. The click clack sounds so nice. The features of the rgb are phenomenal. I can walk or run with the same key. The wrist rest is perfect and comfortable.

Initial impression - extremely nice keyboard. You get a bit of the clickety-clack from the keys, so it's not like it's silent, but it's much quieter than some keyboards I've used in the past that would give you that loud, hollow, sort of metallic sounding click. This is more like an old school (80s-90s time frame) keyboard click, but just the slightest bit quieter and softer sounding than that. If you want a silent keyboard, this isn't the way to go, but I like this noise level. Keys are very responsive, too. Some lighting customization in the software, but a bit limited. The body of it is made of plastic, so it may break easier than one with an aluminum frame, but it feels very solid so I have the impression it will hold up well as long as it doesn't get abused. The tiny little screen - I don't get why keyboard manufacturers keep doing that. I'm not taking any points off for it being there, because I'm not losing anything to it, but it's kind of useless. A screen showing anything useful isn't much good when you have to keep looking down to see it, and decorative animations and such aren't really that interesting when they're that small. A screen that's bigger and sticks up a bit to get closer to your line of sight (as some manufacturers have done before) would make a little more sense, but that gets overly expensive for a feature that's still not *that* useful. On the flip side of that, though, you can make tiny gifs that will play out on the rgb lighting in the keys, where it's much more interesting and visible - so that part is pretty cool. Unfortunately, you lose any other lighting effects if you do that, so no reactive lighting (ripples or lines when you press keys) if you want an animation on the keys. They might be able to improve that in software, so hopefully they will at some point. The cable routing solution is fantastic - best I've seen on a keyboard. There are channels on the bottom with little clips to hold the cable in place, and you just lay the cable into whichever channel makes it come out on the side that works best for your setup. Simple, elegant, low tech solution that's perfect. Volume wheel is pretty small. I don't generally need it because I have a volume control directly on my headphones, so I can't say it's bad or anything, just seems like something a little bigger would be nice if I was using it. The wrist support tray uses magnets to attach. Super nice feature, and it means no plastic clips to break off if you move it around a lot. Unfortunately for me, I tend to pick the keyboard up and set it in my lap (I use a huge screen and lean back, so having the keyboard in my lap makes things easier), and it will not stay attached in that circumstance. Not a huge deal, I can still work with it comfortably, it just takes a little careful positioning if I'm gonna play a game since I don't have that smooth plane to rest my wrist on. Can't knock it for that, though, cause that's my weird setup. The keys do actuate *very* easily. If you tend to rest your fingers or any other part of your hands on any of the keys you have to pay attention that you don't put any pressure on them or you wind up with lots of unintended key presses. This is just a consequence of the extremely 'smooth' key switches, though, and across many new keyboards because of that. Something to keep in mind if you do that, but nothing serious. So overall, having only had it for about a week - love it so far. It feels good, works well, and has some super nice features.

The user customization for each of the actuation points for the keys, is amazing. The rgb is pretty bright and the SteelSeries is East to use and the OLED display is fun to fiddle with!! Overall for the price it’s a well rounded keyboard and I highly recommend this keyboard....it also gives a fuzzy feeling!!!

So I went and dropped a good chunk of change on this keyboard and so far I'm pretty happy with my purchase. I keys don't have the clickity-clack of a mechanical keyboard and they have a nice reassuring amount of feedback when you depress a key on the keyboard. It features a small OLED display which can be used for displaying your Pc's system stats or other info from supported games. It appears to have the ability for you to create your own trigger events that can be displayed on the OLED screen for games that are not currently predefined in the keyboards functions management software. One disappointing aspect to this purchase is that there is no included manual or software disc. I realize this has become pretty common place but for a keyboard in this price range, and with all its functional possibilities, it would have been nice to have a manual to pop open and learn how to do all the things this keyboard is capable of doing. Overall though I'm quite happy with the quality and functionality of this keyboard.

Wrist rest is somewhat more comfortable and dog hair is difficult to remove from it. As far as the keyboard itself, it’s an absolutely amazing keyboard. $150 is a bit steep considering you don’t have individual controls for music, macros, etc. It’s more hot key style. The Steel engine software is very good and functions better than icue did on my old Corsair keyboard.

What I mean is that this keyboard basically lets you change up settings to make it more practical for gaming and then make it more practical for say typing. The wrist bar is shockingly comfortable too. The Keyboard is RBG with each key able to be set a color as well as many effects.

I've compared this keyboard with G915 but had to settle on this one. Although G915 clicky sounds better like a typewriter, the keys wobble a lot. It doesn't feel like a 250$ keyboard and also the secondary symbols don't light up. That is why I had to choose this Apex Pro and never looked back. The lights on this are crazy bright. The transition is so smooth that you would fall in love instantly. Actuation would make a difference if you get used to it. I usually type at a speed of 80wpm~ but during the first week, I couldn't get more than 70wpm on this keyboard. Once I figured out the actuation settings, I can go above 80wpm. Definitely recommend it.

I am Full-time Engineering college student who likes to play games on my free time or days off. I mostly use my computer for everything such as writing essays/reports, complex math homework all the way to playing Ranked on Apex Legends. I had the issue of wanting a fast keyboard for gaming but then having a good in between for typing. I originally bought the Razer Huntsman TE as it was $70 on sale. I used tactile switches before but started to outgrow that style of switches. Once I tried the linear on the Huntsman TE, I fell in love with linear. The issue was with that keyboard, it sucked for typing, I wrote a whole essay with that keyboard, and it was like driving a sport bike on a road full of ice. I looked at BestBuy's Website and saw this one but $150 on sale had me on edge as that was a lot of money for a keyboard. After multiple reviews and YouTube Videos I decided to pull the trigger and buy it. I do not have any buyer's remorse after doing so. The ability to set the Actuation to anything between 0.4 to 3.6 is incredible. You can do it from the mini-OLED screen on the board, so no software is required. Now I can go all the way to the lowest level and play games and be super-fast with movements (Even faster than the Huntsman line of keyboard from Razer) or increase the Actuation distance for when I'm typing so I don't have any mistypes. The included Wrist Rest is okay but not razer quality. The Cable is not braided which Razer spoiled me where everything they sell with a cable is braided. The size of this board is however very reasonable and not huge. My wrist does not get uncomfortable typing on this. The above-board key design or style helps with easier cleaning. Hopefully my scenario and experience help most of you make a choice. I am basing my value score on the price that I paid. I really recommend buying it on a sale!

Great keyboard. I actually got it for the quiet keys because I had a really tactile, clicky keyboard before and I was waking up my girlfriend at night with it. I am impressed with the rgb lighting and the customization on the keyboard.

Right off the bat I gotta say I love it, I save sensory issues and I needed the clickyness of the keys to be just right so I went into the store and started feeling around and I came across this one and the tappies are pure bliss and it’s fully modifiable with the rbg lighting which I like, it’s really sturdy and the keys are really high quality and easily come off for cleaning. When this one eventually gives out I’m probably gonna buy the exact same one.

The adjustable actuation is as good as the hype. I’ve set heavier actuation for the fingers that are stronger, medium for most of the rest, and ultralight hair-trigger mode for my sad left pinkie (broken several times, slightly crooked, and always a little slower than my other fingers). The keycaps are also compatible with Cherry keyswitches, so swapping out WASD for some textured angled ones makes everything foolproof. The drivers weren’t quite done when I first brought it home, but a recent update now gives it much better lighting control, which was my only complaint originally. If I could change anything at all, I’d add some macro keys, but it is still the best keyboard I’ve used, by far.

Love this keyboard, keystrokes feel really nice and the overall quality is the best I have had (I've owned quite a few over the years). The wrist rest being magnetic is truly a great addition and I don't have issues I'd normally have with them unhooking or sliding all over the place. The lights are nice and bright and the software is fairly easy to navigate with a little fooling around. This product alone has made me a fan of Steelseries, give'em a try if in the market for a mechanical keyboard/
