My New Defacto Gaming Audio Experience

I really was not expecting to like gaming earbuds. I assumed that they wouldn’t have great separation, that audio quality would be worse, and that no one would be able to hear me online. I was wrong, the SteelSeries Arctis GameBuds are some of the best gaming headphones I’ve ever used including over the ear headsets. I’m in love with these and I’ve already convinced a friend to buy a pair too. You should too!
Where to even start with all the things I like about these. First and foremost, audio across the board is great. Playing COD Black Ops 6 multiplayer, I had clear separation and was able to effectively listen for enemies. Playing Lethal Company with friends, I was regularly complimented on how good my mic sounded. And the noise cancelling effectively helped drown out all the random noises going on in my house. Battery life is great, I went through several long rounds of gaming without running out of juice and whenever I was done I just put the earbuds back in the case and set the case on my wireless charging pad, always ready to go.
I found both the bluetooth and especially the 2.4g wireless to function beautifully. My entertainment cabinet is thick so sometimes 2.4g signals struggle to reach me on the couch and I have to leave a cabinet door open. Not here, the door was fully closed and I had no issues.
I really can’t say enough about how much I love these earbuds. My one downside is that you have to plug in the headphones/case into a computer and download SteelSeries’ software, in order to update the firmware. The phone app simply says, download the app on your computer to update your firmware. That is a minor quibble though, the headphone are my new go-tos. And they should be yours too!
Pros:
Excellent audio quality
Microphone rivals a full headset with boom mic
Great noise cancelling
Great battery life
Handy case
Strong 2.4g signal
Comfortable
Useful case
Wireless charging
Cons:
Updating the firmware is a pain

SteelSeries - Arctis GameBuds True Wireless earbuds.
This is a very nice pair of terrific sounding true wireless earbuds. To me they offer a much-appreciated alternative to the large/bulky over the ear headphones that most gaming headsets are based on. These earbuds are very small, lightweight, and portable, making them ideal for gamers on the go, or if you’re simply not in the mood for the large over-the-ear variety. Travel well in the included charging case and are especially appreciated as a great gaming set that can also be used on the run paired to a smaller mobile device. The sound quality is amazing for their tiny “earbud” size. Design and build quality are top notch as well with a strong, durable feel. Come in black or white to suit your preference and match the rest of your setup.
Design and Comfort
The earbuds have a clean, attractive look and are very comfortable, even when worn for extended periods of time like gaming or just throughout the day for music or phone use. Their fit remains comfortable and secure even throughout busy activities like running or walking throughout the workday. Come with the typical “small-medium-large” ear tips to fit any size ears, and the included silicone tips are very comfortable when inserted. The accompanying storage/charging case is sleek yet powerful. Offering 3 additional charges in the case and even has a storage nook for the USB dongle which I really appreciate helping to prevent losing it when not in use.
Sound Quality
Sound quality is top notch for their size, and I feel they get plenty loud when needed. These buds deliver crips clean highs and an impressive bass response for an enjoyable and balanced audio experience. The immersive 360-degree spatial audio technology makes me feel like I’m right in the game. The available app highlights all the available features and allows full customization of many settings. The app can instantly apply custom presets for over 100 PS5 games to give you the most robust listening experience tailored to deliver the best audio experience for each particular game – The way it was designed to be heard. Also great for phone calls and music, eliminating the need to have a different set of headphones for all of the different aspects of my day. These are one and done and I can do anything I want seamlessly with this one pair of small versatile earbuds. I wasn’t sure what to expect but the built in microphone integrated into these buds does a phenomenal job of conveying crystal clear voice without any muffling or volume loss. I don’t have to yell out into space in order for this microphone to pick up my words so that I can a nice conversation without shouting.
Active Noise Cancellation
Active noise cancellation seems to be the new norm with just about any headphones or earbuds these, but it really works on these. The 4-mic hybrid technology on these earbuds automatically adjusts to your surroundings to eliminate background noises and keep you focused on what matters. This can be appreciated on every aspect from gaming to phone calls.
Battery Life and Connectivity
Battery life is great. Able to go 10 hours on the earbud batteries themselves and then the case has another 3 full charges to keep you going all weekend even if you forget the charge cable at home. These also support quick switch Bluetooth technology to quickly jump from platform to platform and once again allows me to work from a single pair of earbuds all day without the need for multiple headsets to cover multiple scenarios.
Value for cost
The cost is not cheap, but I feel these earbuds are priced competitively when compared to similar models from other brands. Overall long session usability and their quick-switch Bluetooth make them well worth it for their ability to handle any listening scenario you may have, all with a single pair of buds.
Overall, I have really enjoyed playing with these earbuds and I think they are a great option for hardcore gamers who are ready for a switch from the bulky/heavy/hot alternative of over-the-ear headsets. These do it all in a small package, and they do it all well.

Steelseries is an established gaming brand that puts out quality accessories for PC and gaming consoles. The Arctis Gamebuds do not disappoint. The color scheme fits right into the PS5 design. Connecting it to the PS5 or even PC couldn't be easier with the 2.4GHz wireless receiver that is conveniently tucked into the case. Speaking about the case, the received is held in securely by a rubber grommet via the male USB C plug and the buds themselves are held in place magnetically along with the lid. A strong shake or drop will dislodge the buds, but the receiver will likely stay in the case. Another note about the case is the inclusion of Qi charging (can also be charged via USB C). Should be a expected of ALL WIRELESS earbuds; entry level OR premium!
The ear buds themselves are comfortable to wear for me. I have been wearing them while working for several hours or gaming without out discomfort or itchiness I sometimes get with silicone tips. It seems the silicon tips (comes with 3 different sizes) are a bit smaller than standard tips. Connection is handled via Bluetooth or the 2.4GHz. Switching between the 2 involves 3 taps to the right bud. I found this convenient to switch from gaming on the PS5 to switch over 2 my phone. I also liked that the face of the buds have a clicky button as opposed to touch capacitive surfaces which I usually struggle with to get the taps or swipes right. The defined clicks work for me since I can audibly hear if I successfully clicked the bud.
There are more audio profile presets than I will ever be able to use. But the sound of music, movies and games sound as good as most other buds I have used. Tweaking the different settings will help but it's something each user needs to play with. What sounds good for me may not sound great for the next guy. I usually use one but when I'm watching something so I don't get yelled at while watching/listening to something, but with the transparency mode, I can listen to something with both buds in and still hear what is going on in the house around me. If I wanted to block out the house, then could quickly block it out with the ANC. While it isn't the Bose of ANCs, it does well to block out most of background noises. I look forward to flying with them later this month.
Overall I am pleasantly satisfied with the Arctis buds in how they operate and sound. I have nothing bad to say about them and would recommend them to anyone looking for a solid set of wireless earbuds.

I bought these to be my daily driver earbuds. I typically listen to things throughout the day sometimes upwards of 4 hours a day. The battery in the case has lasted really well all week and kept the earbuds charged as I took them in and out all day.
The ANC is really clean and doesn't add any distortion or odd tone to the music, podcast, or audiobook I'm listening to. The transparent mode is the best I have hear outside of really high-end noise canceling over ear headphones I use when I fly.
They charge really fast for the amount of power the case seems to have.
I liked the mobile app to be able to control the ANC and to choose from the preloaded EQ options.
I didn't like that I couldn't customize one on the app.
The PC application is used to update the firmware and to make custom EQ. It was not impressed as I turned on the option to use the game specific EQ and ended up with the software taking over my PC audio settings. Every time I logged in, it changed my default audio to the USB-C dongle even if it wasn't plugged in. I would change it and then next time I logged in it was change it back.
If you use the PC application, don't set it to automatically run unless you are going to use these for your PC audio all the time.
Overall, I like them and foresee using them for a long time.

Great for PS5 But Had A Couple of Issues

I have gotten to the point where I really prefer having earbuds rather than using a headset for my gaming needs. Earbuds don’t squeeze my head in a long gaming session, don’t get hot if I wear them to long, and in general are just more comfortable by comparison. With this in mind, I was very excited to try the Arctis Gamebuds for use with my PS5. While the headset is very good, I still had a couple of minor issues.
First off, the Gamebuds come in a very nice charging case. So, you have everything you need. This includes a charging cable and adapter so you can charge easily with USB-C or USB-A. Whether you have a new PS5 or the original one, you can still use the front charger. Inside the case, you have both Gamebuds and the USB-C dongle. There are even different sized rubber tips so you can fit the gamebud to your ear.
Getting started is easy. However, this is where my first complaint comes in. When connecting the USB-C dongle to the PS5, this was a very tight fit. I don’t think I have ever had a USB-C connection where it really felt like I had to force the connector into the socket. With this connector I did. I was worried that I may break something in my PS5. I didn’t break anything, but it wasn’t as smooth as expected. However, once it was in place, the gamebuds connected immediately. There is also a companion app which works with these gamebuds. I highly recommend this app. This app allows you to customize you listening tastes. Being that it was being used on a PS5, there are even over 100 presets to match whatever game you are playing. All of the popular games are listed. You just pick which game you are playing. If you do not like it, you can customize it yourself. There is a 5-channel EQ that you can set.
As far using the gamebuds goes, I was hoping that they would be a little more comfortable. The earbuds feels like it goes down into the ear canal a little more than I thought it would. With control buttons on the side of the gamebuds, when you press on the button it pushes it farther into your ear causing discomfort. It just felt like more force was required than should have been.
With all of that out of the way though, the sound quality of the gamebuds is amazing. Whether playing GT7, Call of Duty, FortNite, or Rocket League or if I just wanted to watch a movie, the sounds are great. I was even pleased with the bass response from the gamebuds. And with the companion app, I was able to dial in the sound I really liked. The active noise cancellation worked fairly well too. The battery life is listed at 10 hours. I would say that is accurate from what I could tell. I had no problem using these for a couple of days without recharging.
In the end, I liked the SteelSeries Arctic GameBuds for the PS5. The sound is amazing. Game chat with friends is crisp and clear too. I just had a couple of minor issues with the system, but once I got everything dialed-in, I was fine. I recommend getting a pair of these gamebuds to enhance your next gaming session.

Great Quality Earbuds and More

This is the first time I experienced gaming earbuds. I always thought gaming headsets are the gold standard for gaming comfort, sound performance and quality output. These buds surpassed all my expectations with my basic gaming needs and more!
First of, box opening is easy and very welcoming. I don’t like too much added sheets and I don’t read manuals. Very simple instructions are labeled on the box as I opened them, and I actually read them. Lol. That is already a huge plus. Very basic button instructions and getting set up are easily presented to me in a very easy to digest manner. I think this is the most prepared and informed I have been opening any device I have ever.
These white Arctis Gamebuds look nice. The case design has the right combination of whites and blacks with a prominent Arctis logo on top. It is made of hard plastic with a bit of hollow feel at the top but it is not flimsy. The hinges are tight, and the lid snaps in place. The case is not small compared to usual earbuds but they are still compact and very easy to hold. It surprisingly holds a lot in the case, considering the case size because the case also houses the radio dongle.
Setting up is easy using the Arctis app for my phone. The buds itself is pretty solid and the fit is nice. It does not fall off even with sudden head jerks. I like that it has actual buttons versus taps to control the buds like volume or ANC modes because I get a precise click versus just taps from other earbuds that confuse me if I have been tapping it correctly. It even has voice notifications to let me know what mode it is on, for example, or what it is connected to (dongle or bluetooth). The PC app is also great for customizations and actually has pretty good features. Both phone app and PC app has EQ settings and connectivity options as well as where to create presets for specific games. This is actually one of the best features of either app—there are tons of game presets. I can easily select from games I play. Luckily it has the titles I play like RDR2 and GTA V to name a few. When playing on PC, I set my preferences prior to playing so whether I use Epic Games, Ubi or Steam or launch the settings are already active. When on PS5, I like it that it automatically recognizes the game I am on—when I started playing Red Dead Redemption 2, the audio preset was already there. Then when I need to tweak while playing, I simply use the mobile device.
Bluetooth and dongle (2.4hz) settings do not work at the same time. When I am on bluetooth, on a call, I cannot hear the game, and vice versa.
Performance-wise, the sound is great. It is very clear and I can hear steps and explosions exclusively. From flat EQ, it is already good. When I use presets, the sound is more immersive, but the difference of presets and flat EQ is not too stark for me. I think the tweaks are just for optimization, but in general, the sound quality is really great. Especially when it comes to surround quality, sound levels, highs, mids and lows are distinct and they are wide enough to recognize which part of the game a specific sound is coming from. Sound is great too. It also could be because the fit is nice, so there are no spills on the sound, so all audio goes straight into the ears. On calls, I was told how clear my speech is without soliciting feedback. This already tells me how good the microphone is. ANC is excellent as well. I would say, when it is on, it drowns out maybe 90% of environment sound. It also enhances the quality of the sound output by a lot.
Battery is great and comfort is acceptable—“acceptable” being, like any other pair of earbuds, it tends to bring soreness on my 4th hour. So I have not used the buds for over 4 hours straight and it goes back to the case. Thus, I have not really measured battery life yet since for my multiple 4 hour intervals, the buds never go below 80%.
The PC app by the way, has so many features beyond sound game presets and EQ tweaks, similar to gaming platform features like streaming and capture. It also has auto-enabling of captures for specific games which can all be tweaked using the PC app. It even includes a mixer however, some components of it (e.g. Sonar) adds active drivers to my PC sound settings, which can add clutter to my set up. Otherwise, the software is a very good game companion app.
These are really good earbuds. I can see me using this a lot more in the future especially for playing elsewhere away from home because I do not need to use bulky headphones to get quality sound. Besides, I don't like using headphones when I am out anyway, especially when playing mobile games at a coffee shop. Maybe besides the long use discomfort, I would say, this could be my main pair; perhaps can be a good supplement, like a sidearm. It definitely takes over my headphones except for long raids. I think this is a must-have for majority of gamers out there.

Never really thought about using earbuds for gaming so I was really looking forward to see how the Arctis GameBuds would perform and to see what type of use I could get out of them. The quick decision is these Arctis are really good at everything, but not great. So not only do I play games, I also work out at the gym almost daily so I was hoping that these would be my 1 earbud for all situations. In the box you get the earbuds itself, different size eartips, usb-c dongle that sits in the case (very convenient), usb-a to c adapter and a usb-c charging cable. The case itself is slightly larger than my other earbud case but nothing that is out of the ordinary and the case is capable of wireless charging, which IMO, should be the norm on all earbuds today, but it's not. These earbuds are also very light and comfortable making long time use not a problem. The fit is good for my ears but I did have it come loose during gym sessions. Not a big deal because I don't mind just adjusting them when needed. The noise cancellation is good but the hear through mode could have been better. The mic noise cancellation was excellent. When I took phone calls at the gym, people couldn't even hear the music in the background. Battery life is good as well, really like the 15 minute charge for 3 hours of use feature. For gaming and music, these are very good. Again, not great. I think for gaming, a good over ear headphones are better and for music, there are earbuds that sounds better. But, the Arctis is the only earbuds that does both very good. At this price point, I don't think you can go wrong. It is perfect for multiple uses and works on different platforms.

These earbuds exceeded my expectations.
I was very weary of gaming headsets that aren't "headphones" but this one seemed very interesting because it seems very similar to other earbuds that you might use on the daily so it's very portable and I'm not disappointed with it so far.
The customization you get with it is very in-depth SteelSeries GG app on the PC. You can customize your 5 channel equalizer to your liking. You can choose to have more chat or game in your earbuds too. You can also choose to have the spatial audio as well which can give that sense of direction to your hearing. I personally cannot figure it out too much so I leave it off. There is a volume boost option as well which might be useful for some games. The phone app has customization options too like the ANC option but if you really want to customize this, you have to use their PC app.
The ANC seems to work fairly well and it'll get you by just fine. The sound quality is superb though and I find it very nice listening to music, playing games, and watching movies. You can obviously customize the EQ to fit your liking so your mileage will vary with this one, but it does come with a lot of presets already so you might just have to tinker with that.
The case itself is pill shaped and it can easily fit in your pocket. The earbuds design is very slick and stylish, but I find that it's hard to grasp when in your ear. I end up clicking the button on it.
Overall, this earbud is a great portable setup for whatever you might need. Gaming at home and on the go.

Very Comfortable and Good Audio Quality

I'm an audiophile or something very close to it. I like the purest sound you can imagine be it to listen to soft classical, heavy rock, hip hop or whatever type of music you throw at me. I tend to get the best headphones and earbuds available just because I am too critical. But very few such devices are comfortable enough for me to wear for extended period of time. Unfortunately, I have sensitive ears and I can't stand the pressure for long. But comfort is probably what I liked the most about this device as it allows me to wear it a bit longer than others without feeling it's too much to bare.
If I were going to use these earbuds on my phone for instance, I would not just because it doesn't produce the audio quality I would expect. However, when it comes to games, I am a lot less critical and I'm very happy with its performance. It's far from what I get with high quality over ears headphones, but the comfort is superior and as I said earlier, I can play for a lot longer without removing them which is a big bonus when I don't want to bother the rest of the family with my games. That's a big plus to me. And yes, the audio quality is not bad all for gaming.
I just wish the noise canceling was a little better. It's okay and much better than nothing but they still let more sound in when my wife is vacuuming the floor nearby than I hoped. But I can live with that and I wouldn't expect many to complain.
My main use has been with a PS5 but I have also used with my gaming laptop and gaming PC and they performed just as well in all of them. One thing to note is that these are the first gaming earbuds I ever had. Maybe I would have been more or less critical had I tried others before, buy overall, I am very satisfied, especially with the comfort for sensitive ears like mine.

When I think of an ideal headset for gaming, rarely if ever, prior to trying out the arctus game buds, do I think of earbuds instead of headphones. That has all changed with the Arctis Game Buds.
Let me first talk about convenience. I have a great gaming setup, but every time I get something new, it becomes more cluttered. These are one of the first accessories that I have gotten that do not clutter the area more, and in fact, keep it much. Tidier.
Another feature that these have that you do not expect out of earbuds is both Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz wireless connectivity via a USBC dongle. I can confirm that these work on PC, PlayStation, Nintendo switch, and my cell phone. I suspect, however, that using the dongle these may even work on Xbox One.
I mentioned before space saving, these are also great for people who can live in more confined spaces and don't have a dedicated gaming area. The active noise canceling and targeted microphone make these excellent for use even in a crowded apartment.
For those audiophiles out there, you can download the app for these to get hundreds of preset audio settings for various games on PlayStation 5, tweaked to enhance the enjoyment of each individual game.
On a lighter note, I found it very funny that there were so many warnings on this product, presumably because it is for children, but talking about how you can die if you swallow these. So just in case you were thinking about it, these are not edible.

Steel Series newest gaming audio device. These are pretty simple to setup they come with a usb-c dongle to plug into your pc/laptop (usb-a) adapter included. They sync automatically to the adapter but you can also add a 2nd device via bluetooth and switch between them easy enough tapping on the earbuds themselves.
The 2.4ghz connection to the pc is rock solid and have not experienced any issues there. The sound quality is medium I was not blown away by anything here but in my use case I like having just one earbud in to game and still have an open ear to deal with real life family drama.
Bluetooth is pretty average what you would expect from any other pair of earbuds, nothing fancy to write home about here.
The buttons themselves on the earbuds are mechanical meaning they actually press/depress which is nice and I didn't feel like I was crushing the earbuds into my ear canals using them. Of course there is yet another app to customize everything via steel series on your phone.
Battery life is solid I have not had to stop gaming to recharge yet they have lasted through all my gaming sessions without interruption. Case is wireless charge compatible and charges via included usb c to usb c cable.
Overall I think the best use case here is if you are dead set on wanting to game via earbuds instead of headphones this is it. You won't find much better suited for gaming and comfort, the connection over 2.4ghz is what really sets it apart from something like a bose or sony option. I'm not overly impressed overall I would rate them as average sound wise but they are perfect for what I was looking for in my particular gaming setup. Make sure you grab the right ones for your console/pc (xbox ones have a special chip so make sure to pay attention you are buying the correct ones).

I prefer these over the Steelseries Nova Pro Wireless headphones since they isolate noise much better and don’t cause my ears to overheat. I haven’t used my NPW’s since I got these. The battery runtimes seem adequate for my gaming sessions and I play mmorpg’s. Time will tell how the battery holds up though, since they can’t be freely swapped out like the NPW’s.
Sound is good enough and I’m using the same custom EQ from my NPW’s (from GadgetryTech on youtube). They’re also loud enough but I haven’t tested for distortion at the higher output levels.
Hooks into the Steelseries software platform just like any other hardware just fine. It automatically switches to my speakers when I place the earbuds in the case. Sometimes I need to remove and place again because it doesn’t register but so far it just one retry.
Minus 1 star because they’re not as comfy as I would like.

SteelSeries is a respected mainstream brand when it comes to gaming headsets, so I had high expectations when it came to the SteelSeries Arctis GameBuds. While these earbuds are not without their flaws, for gaming, they work.
Fit... It's very important when dealing with earbuds. It's also a very much a personal issue. I've tried so many different earbuds. Gaming earbuds, phone earbuds, earbuds for working out...lots of earbuds. I've NEVER had an issue with fit...until now. For some reason the right earbud of the SteelSeries Arctis seems to feel a little weird in my ear It doesn't necessarily fall out, but I wouldn't run to go shoot hoops with these in. It doesn't impact the noise cancellation, but it just feels like it's in my ear differently.
Sound...the most important thing when it comes to headphones overall. These sound great! I tried these with my PS5 Pro, I tried these with my Rog Ally X...both of which they sounded great. Via the app, there are game presets for tons of games and they are definitely different per game. I messed with them a little bit and that's a nice little extra detail.
Random, the wireless dongle has a weird design to it.
When I tested these out on my phone to listen to music...it's a no. Absolute lack of volume on the highest level. I'm not sure if maybe the headphones were trying to protect me from myself. I know these are "GameBuds" but if you give people wireless earbuds with Bluetooth functionality, they're going to try them via Bluetooth. Don't.
The ANC on these is very subtle. With nothing playing and the ANC on, I didn't notice it was on until I cut it off in a "Oh, it WAS on" type of way. With sound on, the ANC didn't shut out the background noise. It is there...but...subtle
Originally, I had issues with the button presses. Switching modes wasn't working...but after a few days and trying them again, no problem with the button presses.
Strictly for gaming, the SteelSeries Artis GameBuds are solid...the game presets is a nice little extra feature for a pair of "GameBuds." That is strictly for gaming though, as I would not recommend using these for anything else

The SteelSeries Arctis GameBuds are a nice-looking set of Earbuds. They sit comfortably enough in ear as well.
As for the sound quality game wise, I wasn’t blown away by them. I’ve used so many pairs of earbuds over the years ranging in price from as little as a $100 to some as much as $500 but price doesn’t always determine quality. Trying the various EQ settings, I didn’t really find one that I preferred. I did try out a few of the games that there was already support for while having them paired up to my Steam Deck as well as my PS5 Pro. I could hear some minor differences between a standard setting like flat to using one for something say Gran Turismo but it wasn’t a stark enough difference.
For Music and Videos/Movies, I found them even more middling. There really didn’t seem to be much difference between the music settings. The Punchy and Deep Bass settings sounded identical to me. Perhaps I’m just picky or my ears just can’t discern such minute differences as much anymore.
The app to set them up and customize them is quite intuitive. I did like the ability to toggle between WiFI and Bluetooth based connections. Pairing them was also a breeze and took all of 10 or so seconds.
The controls on the earbuds themselves are easy to use and you can also change what each does from inside the Arctis app.
You can toggle between the different Noise Cancelling modes or disable completely with just a couple taps of the right Earbud. Adjusting other things such as volume was easy as well.
They’re a decent pair of earbuds, but for the price and so many options out there, you’d be better served by another pair, be that more or less expensive. I really wanted to like these especially after all the great things I’ve heard from my friends that have sworn by the Arctis Pro Headphones but I just feel that these are lacking.

These true wireless earbuds are meant for gaming to connect to your Sony PlayStation 5 but also to your phone phone be it an iPhone or an Android device, PC or Nintendo Switch. You can even download an app for your iPhone or Android to control some functions of these earbuds. The case is also wireless Qi chargeable which is nice to have. You also get a dongle inside the case to use on pc, switch or PlayStation 5. You can also use Bluetooth for like your phone. You do need to connect it to your PC if you want to download the latest firmware or make custom EQ’s on their software. Nice to have but why can’t we do custom EQ’s through the mobile app on your phone ? Anyways they also have ANC which is nice. As terms of performance goes it’s nice to have an option for earbuds to use with my PlayStation 5 because sometimes I don’t like big over ears on my head. The mics work good enough but if you want the best quality I would go with the over the ear type headphones. Also used these a bit to listen to music as just earbuds and if you just want one device for gaming and music this will do fine.
I would recommend this to a friend

I got these specifically to game on PC. If you've ever used bluetooth headphones or buds to game with then, if you're like me, the lag/sync will drive you crazy. Even with low latency buds there's still enough lag to make me want to trash the sets. Having a set of gaming buds with dongles are essential.
Since these are buds there's some quality you give up versus using a set of headphones. Biggest are soundstage and location. While even headphones aren't as good as a 5.1 or larger set up, they're pretty decent for locating the source of the sound. Buds, while great for isolation, just don't perform as good when it comes to location. It's an issue you have to deal with that comes with the portability. While some are a bit better, none I've tried ever come close to headphones.
Out of the box, playing music on the PC was decent. Bass is too heavy, highs not bright enough, and the volume has to be cranked to 3x what I set it for my other headphones. This is with turning on some of Window's audio enhancements and without. I couldn't match the level of two other buds I use for gaming.
So, I figured I'd download the software and see if I could tweak the sound. Installed, icon in the tray, launch the UI and a big black blank window pops up. Force quit, try again. Same thing. Reboot, same issue. Uninstall, reboot, install, reboot, lanuch. Still no go on the app. Tried on a laptop...same issue. So basically I'm stuck with the preconfig sound which is horrible for gaming. It sounds like I'm playing underwater with the muffled sounds clouded by too much bass and not enough everything else.
So, these are going into storage until the next version of the software and hope I can actually make them sound better than just decent.
