The two thumb buttons are in locations that are easy to press and are stiff enough so as to not accidentally trigger while moving the mouse. The SteelSeries software used to customize the mouse is great offering complete control over what each button does, the mouse sensitivity, cursor acceleration, and even angle snap and polling rate.

Potentially the best mouse I ever owned but...

I Googled and found a few other customers having the same problem -- one of those other reviews goes back as far as 2017 and I'm having this issue in 2020 so I'm sure Steelseries knows about this but hasn't fixed the issue. Secondly: I e-mailed Steelseries twice because their Steelseries Engine 3 Core program, which controls the mouse settings, keeps popping up every time I reboot the computer. The program does not have an option to "go to tray" after every reboot like most programs do. The solution is to go to Task Manager / Startup and remove it as a startup program. Thankfully it does so without changing my settings. Steelseries never responded to the 2 e-mails I sent them (it was their customer help e-mail on their website). Believe it or not I'm buying a second one, though, before returning this one because the feel is the best of all mice I've ever owned. I pray the second one doesn't have a similar or different issue.
