Steep has amazing graphics and the environments in the game are detailed and expansive. I also like that you can pick from boarding or skiing, along with a few other options. Staying with the option that you like the best makes it hard to level up after a while, which is a bummer because I enjoy the snowboarding option the most, but other than that the game is great.

Steep has some awesome features, with some things to still be desired. The game itself is beautiful, and for the most part gameplay isn't too bad. There are some areas where it's easy to get stuck on rooftops or behind a house that are annoying, and the extended demo to start the game was dull and random - I almost sold the game before I opened up the map, but once you pass those few challenges it opens up the entire map and the world is yours to roam. The lack of an offline mode is a bummer, but it is nice to get on and play with a group of people. The many modes are great, and there are tons and tons of lines to run and drop zones to discover, creating hours of game play. The season pass has so far been worth it, with a new mountain, a new game mode and new costumes and gear.

This is a very well done winter sports game. Even though the game is set up as primarily a snowboarding/skiing game, I hesitate to call it that. The developers have added paragliding and (what I consider to be just as fun as snowboarding) wing suits. The game takes several famous peaks in the Alps and brings them together in a large open playground.
Controls are quite good once you get the hang of them. Be sure to turn off the trick safety option to fully enjoy the game. The different sports each have a different feel and each one controls well.
While the controls feel solid, I did find a little bit of randomness when landing jumps. The game uses g-forces as a sort of life bar-experience too many g-forces in too quickly and you will crash. It is an interesting effect but can be a little annoying as the game does not do much to allow you to set up a landing. The game also does not have a grinding mechanic.
This is a game where you have to be able to make your own fun. There are quite a few challenges available on each mountain and you can share runs as races, freestyle, etc. but you really don't have traditional races like in games like SSX. Much of the time spent is spent exploring. You can unlock items that have no effect other than visual but you never expand your skill set. If you need a feeling of progression or unlock able skills to enjoy a game, you may not be happy with this. You see other players populating to world and easily group up if you want to. It makes the mountains seem less desolate.
One word of warning: this game REQUIRES an online connection. I was surprised by this and I hope the servers last a very long time. I personally hate this but I enjoy the game so much I can overlook it.
I also want to touch on the world map. In short, it's amazing. It is shown in 3D and real time. That means you can go from a entire map view all the way down to seeing sparkles in the snow. If another play shoots by you will see them too. On top of that, you can instantly fast travel to peaks or drop zones you have unlocked. You will seen now loading screens once you get past the title screen. It truly is impressive. That also means if you crash during a run, simply holding a button will warp you back to the start. It is great tech that I hope to see in other games.
All in all I would say this is a tremendous first effort in what I hope becomes a franchise. There are certainly things that are missing from the game that could come in a sequel but this is a very solid effort. Many Ubisoft games have come out that have an okay-at-best first offering but with solid bones underneath. It takes a sequel to work out the kinks. This is not like that. I feel that it is one of their best first efforts and I will continue to play long after I complete the challenges.

This game is for anyone who might have an interest in winter sports. Things like Snowboarding or skiing. For some, it will be very repetitive but it's one of those games where you have to make your own fun. Nothing beats putting on some music and snowboarding a line from the top of a mountain to the bottom.
The challenges are pretty cool and add some flavor, same as all the outfits.
Overall, It's a good game to have in your collection but I wouldn't pay more than 20/30 dollars for it.

This game calls back to the SSX series and other snowboard games. It seems to be more realistic than how SSX was arcade, but it's still very enjoyable. The graphics and sound are good and the pace is left up to the player. Similar to the Tony Hawk games where you go around the world and have fun, this game allows you to do that.

You can only do 1-2 tricks per jump as opposed to other games that let you do unrealistic stunts. The graphics are good. The controls can take some getting used to.

Bought this for my husband who wanted a good ski/snowboard game for the winter. The open world deal is pretty cool and feels more like a trip out but the game play is so/so. Controls have a learning curve and aren't rly that fun compared to something like ssx, but thats not the point of this game. More of an enjoy the ride kind of thing. Id like to try it with the VR.
Would recommend to the right person.

I really like this game just don't go into it thinking it's like SSX. It's open world is big! Graphics are great ! I got it for half price and if you can get it for that it's well worth your cash!

It's been over a decade since I played an extreme sports snowboarding game and although it would have been great to include more sport activities with out making them only for season pass/dlc holders there is still lots of fun exploring the many beautifully digitized mountains and regaining some of the thrill of riding on powdery snow and performing 360 spins and carving around in a winter wonderland.

I came in not expecting much of this game since I did not enjoy the beta too much. Decided to grab it on sale, and I was pleasantly surprised that the game is actually pretty darn good. Graphics are great on PS4 PRO, and gameplay is fun and relaxing with some challenging tasks as well. There are a few glitches along the way and some minor frustrating tasks to do, but overall I recommend the game.
