    Still Alice DVD

I purchased the movie "Still Alice" as a birthday gift for my grandmother because she read the book and told me that it is inspiring and she enjoyed reading it. The book was written by Lisa Genova, who is an American neuroscientist and author. It is about a linguistics professor named Alice who is diagnosed with Early-Onset Alzheimer's Disease and married with three children. The price was lower than many movies that recently became available to purchase on DVD (Still Alice became available in May) so the price is reasonable ($19.99). I believe that my grandmother will enjoy watching it and I would recommend it.

This disease has shown up in both sides of the family tree. I've had a great-aunt and an uncle that have both been affected by early-onset. For me, this movie is a look in the past, and a look into the mirror at what could be. I'm inspired to get the genetic testing done to start figuring out what final outcome I'll have to deal with. Phenomenal acting for everyone. It isn't a feel-good movie because the subject matter is tragic. It will make you feel awful, but you'll be a better person if you can learn empathy.

Do not watch this to be entertained. Watch it to be educated and overwhelmed. Moore deserved every award she won for her performance of a woman terrorized by the thought of losing her faculties. This is more of a docu-drama than a film in the classic sense. It really has no resolution unless it's (SPOILER ALERT) between the mother and her wacko daughter. Meanwhile, it's a must-see because of the information presented and the truly realistic reactions of family members dealing with the unknown.

A tough watch if you've ever watched someone you really care about start their struggle with this disease. Richard Glatzer & Wash Westmoreland great direction. Easy to see why Julianne Moore won an Oscar for her performance. Good job by Kristen Stewart as well ( breaking out of the Bella Swan-Cullen persona ).

What a fantastic film! Still Alice resonates long after the final credit rolls. The acting is absolutely spectacular. Julianne Moore gives the performance of her career. Along with great cinematography, Art Direction, and directing, this film is one of my favorites of 2014!

Julianne Moore and the rest of the cast of this movie were all excellent. The story was sad and scary. Scary to know this kind of ailment exists, and sad to know that it could happen to people who have so much to give. I think everyone should see this movie.

This is a good movie that shows what a family can go through when a loved one has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. It starts with the early stage diagnosis and goes until she cannot remember anyone, or anything. The only reason I did not say this was a great, or excellent movie, was because I did not like the ending.

I really liked this movie and I normally do not like such a heavy emotional film. But the acting is excellent. Granted, it is a very low budget film, but the movie relates to many families as many have a similar situation. Very predictable, but that does not detract from the emotional impact or worth.

Great story, great casting. Early onset Alzheimer's is an all too frequent occurrence and this film helps in understanding. The film only gives us the initial discovery and we as viewers are tasked to take it to heart.

Julianne Moore was a revelation in this film. Her performance was perfect and she deserved her Oscar. The film deals with the subject in a very realistic manner and does not manipulate audience to get the tears at all. The supporting cast, specifically Kristen Stewart, is exceptional as well.

This movie did not show in local theatres, so this purchase was well worth the price for home viewing. I would highly recommend viewing to anyone whose life has been touched by Alzheimer's disease.

Shows how this disease does not discriminate and how it affects the individual with the disease, as equally affects the family. Brings awareness that Alzheimer's is just as horrible as cancer.
