The movie was great. There were some very complicated and moving situations that really made u focus on the story. I followed the group when I was young and the movie did hit some key points of NWA's career but not all. Honestly there was so much going on with the group that it just wouldn't fit into one movie. All in all great storytelling.

Straight outta Compton was an Epic movie and the group NWA made history in music! The movie pack was an incredible value with the Blu-Ray/DVD and ultraviolet discs and getting a free t-shirt was an added bonus! Definitely a movie my family will watch and rewatch. Will

Being a HIP HOP fan I knew the back story of the NWA I couldn't wait to see the full story that wasn't told in documentaries. Excellent movie and I would recommend this item to anyone.

I have to start off by saying that I didn't know much about NWA before this movie. I'm not a big rap fan, so I knew a few of their songs and who most of the members were but I didn't know much about the group's backstory before watching this movie. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It was a great look into the band's beginning, their rise to success, and the aftermath. I like the fact that there weren't many well known actors in this movie as it gave some up and coming actors a chance to show off their skills. There is violence, bad language, etc., so I wouldn't let children watch this movie. There are certain segments of adults who won't enjoy this movie either. If you're a fan of rap, or you like biographical movies, I'd recommend this one to you.

I grew with this group. I didn't like their music as I was more of the Rapper's Delight style. I was a major Tupac and Ice Cube fan though. Anyway, I had no idea they went through all they did and I applaud them for what they accomplished. So why so hard to watch because it makes you feel some kind of way about the police and although I know there are good ones out there, this was just too much. The movie pulls you in immediately and it takes you on a journey through the life of these young men and shows you the struggles of inner city youth and why it maybe so hard for them to do anything positive with their life. Watch this movie and see the disadvantages they really face. Sometimes it just about being born on the other side of the other side of the tracks!

"Straight Outta Compton" (2015 release; 147 min.) brings the story of the mega-influential hip-hop group N.W.A. As the movie opens, we hear radio and TV snippets over the opening credits about "the war on drugs" and the "crack epidemic in America". After the opening credits, we are reminded that this is "Compton, CA, 1986". During the initial 20 min. or so, we get to know how N.W.A's five members (Dr. Dre, Easy E, Ice Cube, DJ Yella, and MC Ren) all live in Compton and are dealing with various problems (the police being one, obviously), and how N.W.A eventually came into being. To tell you more would spoil your viewing experience, you'll just have to see for yourself how it all plays out.

Great movie! For someone who grew up during that time loving NWA , there were thing I knew about and didn't know about. The movie helped fill in the blanks for things that didn't make sense at the time. It also showed a more human side of the famous Eazy-E, and Dr. Dre. I was really impressed with O'Shea Jr. I imagine since he is the spitting image of his father, it wouldn't be difficult to portray Cube. But he had to be him in a younger age in a different time while showing the pressures he was able to overcome to make him who he is today. THAT had to make it harder and I think O'Shea did it well. Kudos to him and the entire cast. We miss Eazy:-(

Straight Outta Compton, to me, is a movie that was long-awaited by the fans of their music and for the next generation to learn about rap and hip/hop music during the late 80s. Of course, this movie also included historical events such as the Rodney King case and the riots that broke out in Compton. I didn't expect each of these actors really do outstanding in their roles but they did. I like to point out Oshea Jackson Jr. He looked, behaved, acted, and sounded just like his father, Oshea "Ice Cube" Jackson. Straight Outta Compton became an instant classic for me. I suggest buying this movie because if you don't, well this movie is going to be around for years to come.

It's like a timewarp to the past but it is well worth watching for anyone interested in the back story of NWA. Even though I lived through the era and was not a big NWA fan when Dr. Dre dropped the Chronic it changed my view of rap in general so this movie was a great view into the past that I missed but being oblivious of what was going on with the west coast rap scene. Well worth the watch and purchase the actors are great and the concert scenes are very well done. It really should have won an oscar for something it really is that good and yes I did love the Revenant also. Buy it watch it you this is a piece of Americana that should be witnessed by all.

Wow! the way it was then and how it has to be now! My hat off and I applaud first the entire talented group, N.W.A, Ice Cube, Dr. Dre and the crew. Thanks for standing up, speaking up and taking on the establishment head on and becoming the staple in society. Great job F. Gary Gray producing and directing this rising all star cast that I hope get the credit which is deserved for telling a story and pulling me in, making me become a part of the experience. Okay, if you haven't seen or picked this up yet, I suggest you make your way to Best Buy and get your copy which includes the Blu-Ray, DVD plus a Digital HD. This is a straight up must see!

I was never previously a fan of Rap. Then I saw Straight Outta Compton. I can't say I suddenly saw the light and became a fan of rap, but I certainly gained a new appreciation after watching. This film is culturally significant, I am not sure if it's 100% accurate but given that members of the band were involved I would think it's pretty close. A story of persistence and courage, and the effects of fame on people. The movie itself is artfully done and has a great soundtrack not only from NWA but also for Joseph Trapanese, who seriously enhanced the impact of several scenes. Highly recomended

Not since Django have I libidinally enjoyed a film. Of course there were the films, The Walk and Everest, where I watched middle class spoiled brats do amazing things that threaten their lives (even their nose and their cheeks in some instances). But there is something about watching black people place themselves (apparently) into threatening situations and still look cool that makes everyone happy. It’s the Jazz Age of the 20s and the 40s and 50s all over again. Long live the sense of life and death in films like this...
