Another great game in Street Fighter genre!

This is a great game for any fan of the genre. It has all of the classic characters and incorporates several from across the series. The 4 new characters are interesting to say the least. The online game is very smooth and there is very little freezing up or disconnecting.
There are some major drawbacks though, first, Seth is worst finishing boss in the series. He is easily defeated with a simple combo repeated over and over again; it makes me long for Gill or Bison as the finisher. Playing online is very difficult since everyone picks the shoryuken fighters and they use MK, MP, LP and LK over and over again. When you play online you are randomly matched with a player, most of the time you will be assigned a pro (1200 Battle Points or more) and they will always pick Ken or Ryu and do the same thing over and over again. There is no way to "preview" who you are fighting. There is also no other way to set up custom matches, it would be nice to set up matches with certain characters to be excluded to level the playing field. Several of the trophies are EXTREMELY hard to complete, including Challenge Expert, No Challenge Too Hard, Technical Fighter, Title Master, Icon Master, Playing to Win and The Gold Standard. It takes an average player several months to unlock. If you don’t' have the Championship edition fight stick, this makes these even harder to unlock.
This game is great for casual players and fans of the series; but for those who are looking for a platnium, look elsewhere, this one takes too long.

Awesome except for last guy

I love street fighter, I love this game too, but. The last character is the cheesiest character I have ever seen. His name is Seth. I honestly don't think they put much though behind him. They basically said, OK well have a diesel manikin guy with a circle on his stomach. lame! All his moves are cheesier than cheese. the insane Teleporting, the fact that he can keep grabbing you no matter what. using other peoples attacks. I despise Seth even his name is not exactly a bad guys name. They messed it up with this guy.
However buy this game Is the best. I been playing it non-stop but I hate the blue mans group manikin at the end.

this game is really fun to play and really interesting. I have played this game 2 player with my friends, and that game mode is really fun, and i have also played online, which is another great experience. I haven't gotten the chance to try out story mode, but I expect that to be fun as well. In addition the graphics were very realistic and it has made the experience of playing this game even more real. as for the controls, they are weird because if you press a combination of buttons one time it will give me a move but if i press the same combination again it might give me another different move. All in all this is a great game and defiantly worth the price.

I quite agree with several comments from other people. After thinking about a score of 4 or 5, I finally decided the game deserves a 5, even with the less the game has. Street fighter is a good fighting game IMHO, having some flags that, should be solved the game is more enjoyable.
As disadvantages, graphics are not the best; in fact I am rather disappointed with this item. I read several revisions that highlighted graphics but they are just ok for me, solids but barely in the quality edge for a PS3, nothing outstanding, neither the introduction nor ending videos of each character, not even scenarios. Do not expect so much in this regard. Also movements and combos are pretty difficult to execute in a regular joystick (in fact I rejected to play with some characters due controls are impossible, I am not going to buy the $100+ for the good specialized control). Even so, after some practice you will do fine with most characters.
Besides that, the game was addictive for me once I defeated the last boss for first time in normal and after starting playing online. I am still a pretty new player, so I am just cumulating points at this time. I agree in what I read before, some players are just using same technique over and over again, but that’s a classic, you always find this kinda players in combat games, just find the way and accumulate points after defeat them. Expertise of opponents is also quite variable, I found people with low score but very good players and others with high scores than just perform a good movement over and over again.
The game is spectacularly balanced. You can play with a strong but slow guy that have great problems getting close to a quicker opponent and even crossing fireball and the like, but once close he does a lot of damage to his enemy and in few movements the combat is wan. And in the other hand some very fast but less damaging ones. Every movement can be contra-attacked with another one in each character, movement priority is well analyzed and the whole think make the game look very polished and fluid. Some kinda you have idem possibilities of winning with every character if you know what to do. I do not remember a combat game so well polished, so this is a great favorable plus and the final “5” is heavily influence on this comment and the following: I did found no a minimal bug in the entire game, nothing less expected from Konami. And the game is spectacular when you just have a short period of time for playing.
I did not find the problem that you have to use repetitive effective movements to defeat your opponents in very hard. Playing as usual (I mean realy fighting, not just repetitive movements) I did a good job, I do not like the idea of one repetitive movement. Even the last boss can be defeated in this way and in very hard. Not a problem for me, just rather hard to do it, but possible (and I have to admit that I am not the best player you can find, just average)
As conclusion, after an initial disappointment I can say I now enjoy the game, a few combats every day, stress gone and ready for diner. My opinion: get it.

Street fighter 4 is finally here and it is the best fighting game since Street Fighter premiered on the SNES. The game is a lot of fun---great sound, unsurpassed visuals, and controls that are very accurate. This game is a lot of fun, too. Unlockable characters, a new power gauage that rejuvenates quickly for special moves, and the new boss is....welll lets just say I wish I could set it so I could fight the boss again, and again. I really am impressed by this game and will never, ever selll it! A fresh breath of air after a long bout of fighting games that didn't impress me. Thank you Capcom!

I remember playing this on Sega Genesis along with other great games such as sonic. When I heard that this was coming to Playstation 3 I was very excited an couldn't contant myself. I love Fighting games, but the end of games like this is always hard, you have find an character that you know how to control an know there moves well. Blinker was my chosen Character to fight agaist the other characters, he would jump up or roll. The rolling does the most damage if you can manage it.

I've been waiting for this game for a long time and I'm glad to say it delivers in a big way. If you like fighting games, I highly recommend this. The folks over at CAPCOM really did a good job on this game. Online play has been flawless so far for me...the game does warn you to make sure your opponent has a good connection or it will lag. I've heard of some laggy online play with bad connections, but have never experienced that myself so far. Go buy this game!!

I am a long time Street Fighter fan and I had been waiting for this since Comic-Con 2008 Street Fighter panel. This game is well worth the wait!
The graphics are amazing, both character and background with fluid animations and perfectly rendered character designs. While some games may try for a realistic look, SF IV retians the classic Street Fighter look and feel. The characters look and play like the fighters fans have known for years.
The gameplay is fast and intense! There is no shortage of action in this game and the controls work great. I am using the Dualshock 3 controller and have found control to be flawless. The gameplay itself harkens back to SF II, but with some new twists to bring Street Fighter to the new generation. The combo system works intuitively and there are different types of moves to keep you playing for a long time to come. The gameplay is easy enough to pick-up for beginning gamers and has enough depth to interest more experienced gamers.
The difficulty is adjustable from Easiest to Hardest, which is great for any level of gamer. I've unlocked most of the hidden characters, including Akuma, and have had no problems doing so.
The anime scenes for each character are fun to watch, and makes me wish the people who created these scenes would make a Street Fighter IV anime.
The Japanese voice track features some top ranked voice talent, so I recommend the Original Japanese dialogue over the English dub.
Lots of action, great graphics and high replay value. Street Fighter IV rocks!

i was waiting for a game to caome to the PS3 that reminded me of the arcade. this game has some of the best street fighter graphics ever!! this game is almost a classic and you dont find games like that. the reason for the great status is that the hard est level on the game is hard not easy like every other game.also the player is harder then ever!!!! must have!

This is classic SF, even the storylines suck. All the old school characters are there as well as some new ones. It's a great game and a lot of fun. I particularly like the online option where you can battle in ranked and unranked matches. Buy it, you won't regret it.

Good game but a hard one

This is the deal with this game. It is like the older versions of SF but just a little harder. All versions had combo moves just like this one. Its not hard to release the hidden characters....it can be done on the easiest setting....you just have to complete the game with the correct characters and/or the correct method. This game is challenging but not impossible. Its alot like older ones so if you like those then you should like this one too. The story line and the sound track is the worst that I have ever seen though....CHEEZZZZZZZEY!!!

Graphics are good but game play SUCKS. I mean its just horrible. Ive been playing street fighter for years and even when this game is on Very Easy I have a very hard time beating the boss. I have never seen anything like this. Buy this game only if you want to raise your stress level through the roof. Save your money for Tekken 6 or to pay rent, or to flush down the toliet because any of those things is better than paying for SF4.

I was so happy that i had money to go and buy this game on the release day until i got home and couldnt beat the story mode on medium. Its weird since if you cant use all of your special moves during the game you will not win so if you cant remember all the combos most likely you will lose in the game. The online mode is even much more difficult then what i thought people using the same move over and over or other people who have beaten the game using a more powerful character against a weaker one makes you mad at times.

Great game, everything you read about is true. brings me back to my fat adolesence age!! Only one thing I would love for them to change, they should of put in all the characters from super street fighter like T. Hawk and Dee Jay, I just think a massive list of characters would be great!

Using only a PS3 game controller, SFIV is hard to master but the tutorials and training center are good and helpful for trying out each of the characters and learning their best offensive and defensive moves. In Arcade mode, SFIV lets a player compete against the CPU or with online enabled, against random players on the SFIV network. Unfortunately, the online matching system doesn't appear to select competitors with the same level of experience as I've lost every online fight so far. Tournament mode looks fun but serious and for someone with lots more experience than me. There are trophies to win and unlockables (video, pictures, ...) to earn and they keep the game interesting. Not sure why but the cutscenes are done like old '70s/'80s cartoons but the soundtrack is excellent.
