I am in the process of updating my photography equipment and bought this Sunpak to replace my Slik monopod which is much heavier and bulkier but which has a quick release plate mechanism; the Sunpak does not have this handy feature but it's easy to screw it onto the camera as it's light and compact: 0.8 pounds and 21 inches. The mounting screw is 1/4" x 20. It comes with a case that has a strap so it's easy to haul around and it's not a burden on a hike. Despite its light weight, it's quite sturdy. I'm using it with a bridge camera - don't know how it would do with a DSLR and a long lens (no longer have those setups), but the box says load capacity is 6.6 pounds and labels it as a medium duty monopod. The maximum height is 67 inches. The 4 leg sections are made of aluminum and the diameter of the top leg is 1.0 inch. The top 7 1/4 inches of the monopod is covered with neoprene which makes for comfortable handling in cold weather and increases the diameter so that it is just about the same as the mounting plate which I measured as 1 3/8 inches giving the monopod a nice streamlined look. The foot assembly has a rubber head/stub so it doesn't harm your floors for the indoor shoots. This head/stub can be screwed back to expose a metal spike which helps with stabilization when shooting outdoors. The lack of a quick release plate head is not an issue for me as I plan on getting a rotating ball head so for me, the features for the price of this monopod worked out well.

I use this with my GoPro 7 Black!

The GoPro 7 Black has the best stabilization so I don't use a gimbal. I did however, need an extension that I could hold in my hand. This monopod was a wonderful price, saving me $50+ by using it in place of a more expensive handheld extension. All I did was take one of the mounts that came with my GoPro and stuck it to the plastic leg lock. The soft cushioned grip with the wrist strap is comfortable, it's lightweight, and inexpensive (although it doesn't feel cheap). As I said, it saved me money and raising a 2 year old boy, that's always a huge plus! lol Anyway, I recommend this monopod for those who need a monopod or for those who wanna be a bit creative and convert it to be used as an inexpensive handheld extension. You can also buy a mount that will allow you to use it with a GoPro. I just love using what I have on hand and saving some money. :)

I was very disappointed with this particular purchase. Actually, I've been very disappointed with Best Buy for the last couple of years. Back in the day, Best Buy was a great place to shop. Now, I realize that there's a lot more competition these days, due to online sales. That being said, such a large drop in service and quality levels is ridiculous! Anyway, back to the subject at hand. The product I purchased was supposed to be a new product. When I got it home and opened it, the plastic wrapper inside had been previously ripped open and the product was scratched up and dented. Most likely, someone had previously purchased it and returned it. I really hope you guys get your act together and return to your former glory, but I'm not going to hold my breath. Sincerely Disappointed, Rixx

This monopod is lightweight and portable. It is easy to attach to the camera and extends instantly holding the height at which it is set. It is ideal for sports photography. It helps to steady the camera and my 200mm lens when I take action shots at 1/1000 exposure. Moving from one location to another is so much easier than using a tripod. You can also use the monopod to ocassionally "rest" the camera between shoots, which can make a big difference after an 8 hour event. The quality is solid and the design is sleek.

I took this monopod on a trip, and it did the job as expected. I took pictures of wildlife using a Canon pocket camera, and it was steady enough to snap a clear picture even with zoom. The quick release locks on the pole worked very well. I was hoping to use this as a walking stick as well, but I didn't get the opportunity. One thing I will say is that I should have bought a swivel cap for the top, so that I could easily adjust the camera angle as opposed to leaning the monopod. It would also be nice if this monopod had a cap for the top, but it wasn't a big issue for me.

I wanted a monopod that was light yet would hold up to moderately heavy use and would accommodate my Nikon D7100. I had looked at a Manfrotto but when I spotted the Sunpak Platinum 6700M monopod I knew I had found the right monopod. Even better, it was on sale! The 6700M extends to 67" which is perfect for me as I am 6' 1" so I have "extra" room" if needed for BIF shots. Fully extended it does not flex and when I lean on it the locked legs do not slip. When the non-slip rubber foot is screwed into the lower leg there is a metal spike to help anchor the monopod, if needed. Sunpak has been in this game for many years and they make a fine product for retired professionals, like myself, or any level of amateur to advanced for a reasonable price.

This was purchased with the intent to add a mobile phone gimbal and iPhone to elevate a few more feet above eye level. The goal was to have footage recording above refs and coaches for my son's flag football game and the monopod did wonders. I was hesitant to elevate to max extension, and though I realized it wasn't needed, supporting the weight at the top was no problem. It doesn't flex unless you push it or really put some weight on top. I was able to go overkill and mount a 2nd phone with a Goby grip and it still didn't flex. Highly recommended.

So glad another parent suggested a monopod. I use it when recording my daughter's basketball games and it is much easier to turn a single pole than to have my hand on the camera. It's less obstructive in what can be very crowded situations. I also appreciate the carrying bag that comes with it so that it doesn't get snagged on anything as I'm walking through crowded gyms. Super easy to adjust the height in the event other patrons sit in front of me and obstruct my view. I don't have to readjust three legs to get the perfect angle again.

Barebones monopod with a screw thread top. Needs a ball head added to make reasonable use with a DSLR. Legs extended easily. Clamps held legs in place properly. I used the monopod as a hiking pole while not taking pictures of Arkansas, Tennessee, and Virginia waterfalls. Steady enough to capture good images at slow shutter speeds. Better than handheld results. Acted as a decent counter balance, too.

I bought this just to see if a monopod would really be practical at all, and I really must say, they are great. The price of this one made me assume it would be of poor quality, but it is a rather sturdy little piece. It can hold the weight of my D5300 and any of my lenses without slipping or shaking at all. It also serves well as a hiking stick. I did eventually bend it when I stumbled over a rock while it was wedged between other rocks, but it still functions well. I would recommend buying a quick disconnect mount for the top as well, they're cheap and it greatly increases your options for carrying it. Overall, it's a great product.

I purchased this monopod as a last minute decision as I was on my way to watch my son's school performance. The last video I had recorded using my point and shoot camera was so shaky that it was pretty much a lost cause. Using the Monopod helped tremendously and it also kept my arms from getting tired from holding the camera up. For the price of this monopod, you can't really complain about it. It gets the job done, it comes with a carrying case (I don't use it) and the weight is not an issue. At first opening and use, the foam handle has the typical stinky smell, but that goes away after letting it air out for about a week.

A monopod is an affordable, and indispensable easy to carry addition to any videographer or photographer's kit. It's compact, yet provides quick stabilization for run-and-gun video makers, and when extended can give you creative angles and perspectives or get your camera up over the heads of a crowd and catch the action. This Sunpak works great and has been trustworthy for as long as I've had it. And at this price, it sure beats having to lug a tripod around.

This is a great monopod for the price (mind you, I got an open box deal, but it's still good full price). It's not going to hold up to lots of abuse, and it isn't made to have a head attached. You could always get an converter, but the screw is 3/8" - meaning it fits a standard camera (tripod heads are 1/4"). So, it's definitely not for pros, or even experienced hobbyists, but it would be great for someone starting out, before deciding to go with something from a pricier manufacturer like Manfrotto or Oben.

This Monopod is built like a tank yet very light. Unless you are a Wilt the Stilt type this monopod will go higher than most would ever need. The locks are extremely solid lever types and the mast extensions are aluminum. It also has a nice cushioned grip. If you have never used a monopod you need to try one, if you need to replace an existing one this is the monopod for you!

Solid monopod for the price. Easy to use, nice that it came with a carry bag. One thing to note is that I recommend getting a panhead adapter for this monopod because after mounting my polycarbonate Canon Rebel body onto it for the first time, there were scratches left from plastic head. Overall, this is a good budget monopod. There are comparable monopods out there for a lower price (i.e., Dolica WT-1003 for $15 @ Newegg & Amazon) but I've seen worse models than this Sunpak.

I purchased this monopod mainly to extend the reach of my Smooth Q gimbal when using either my phone or GoPro while shooting video. I can get higher and further camera angles now. The only thing I wish it had was a way to have a secondary foam grip near the lower base of the device for better control when handling the pole at its maximum extension. Otherwise, a great addition to my camera gear.

I picked this up before a trip to Yellowstone and glad I did! Really light weight and easy to use. Great for shots of animals off the distance and did not have to worry about lugging or setting up a tripod. I added a photo of a grizzly bear taken with the monopod, this was perfect. Loved I was able to snap off a ton of photos with the monopod while everyone else was fumbling with tripods

I purchased this so that I could mount an Action Cam or Digital Camera and use it while standing in a crowd, or seated. This works extremely well in both circumstances. The monopod comes with both a soft foot, as well as a retractable spike that provides a sure grip on soft ground or soil. A nice feature to have when out in nature. It is well made, and nicely engineered. It looks hardy in construction and like it would probably last me many years of regular use.

This is really a nice monopod that is well made and should last for many years. The best features are the soft foam hand grip and it comes with it's own travel case. The fact that it extends to 67" is a real plus for taller folks. It also has a retractable spike in the rubber tip which is useful for extra traction in the grass, dirt or snow. For the quality and features I think that the price is a real bargain.

There are many monopods out there, they can be cheap, expensive, or in the middle.. For basic photography or video use, this tripod has a nice black aluminum build with some plastic locking segments. There's no need to get anything fancy unless you're shooting for a big sports organization, or wildlife with a big zoom lens that's hefty. 20 bucks and this monopod is simple and straightforward, it does what it needs to do. It might be worth $15 to some people or $25 to others, point is, it gets the job done.
