I am in the process of updating my photography equipment and bought this Sunpak to replace my Slik monopod which is much heavier and bulkier but which has a quick release plate mechanism; the Sunpak does not have this handy feature but it's easy to screw it onto the camera as it's light and compact: 0.8 pounds and 21 inches. The mounting screw is 1/4" x 20. It comes with a case that has a strap so it's easy to haul around and it's not a burden on a hike. Despite its light weight, it's quite sturdy. I'm using it with a bridge camera - don't know how it would do with a DSLR and a long lens (no longer have those setups), but the box says load capacity is 6.6 pounds and labels it as a medium duty monopod. The maximum height is 67 inches. The 4 leg sections are made of aluminum and the diameter of the top leg is 1.0 inch. The top 7 1/4 inches of the monopod is covered with neoprene which makes for comfortable handling in cold weather and increases the diameter so that it is just about the same as the mounting plate which I measured as 1 3/8 inches giving the monopod a nice streamlined look. The foot assembly has a rubber head/stub so it doesn't harm your floors for the indoor shoots. This head/stub can be screwed back to expose a metal spike which helps with stabilization when shooting outdoors. The lack of a quick release plate head is not an issue for me as I plan on getting a rotating ball head so for me, the features for the price of this monopod worked out well.

I purchased this monopod to help me steady my camera when I'm moving around taking pictures of fast-moving birds and wildlife. It is very light and easy to use and I can move to another location and setup again very rapidly as conditions demand.

A monopod is an affordable, and indispensable easy to carry addition to any videographer or photographer's kit. It's compact, yet provides quick stabilization for run-and-gun video makers, and when extended can give you creative angles and perspectives or get your camera up over the heads of a crowd and catch the action. This Sunpak works great and has been trustworthy for as long as I've had it. And at this price, it sure beats having to lug a tripod around.

The unit is well made, the locking mechanisms are easy to operate, and it has a good range of vertical adjustments. It comes with a carrying case that slings easily over your shoulder. All in all, a good product for the price.

I use this with my GoPro 7 Black!

The GoPro 7 Black has the best stabilization so I don't use a gimbal. I did however, need an extension that I could hold in my hand. This monopod was a wonderful price, saving me $50+ by using it in place of a more expensive handheld extension. All I did was take one of the mounts that came with my GoPro and stuck it to the plastic leg lock. The soft cushioned grip with the wrist strap is comfortable, it's lightweight, and inexpensive (although it doesn't feel cheap). As I said, it saved me money and raising a 2 year old boy, that's always a huge plus! lol Anyway, I recommend this monopod for those who need a monopod or for those who wanna be a bit creative and convert it to be used as an inexpensive handheld extension. You can also buy a mount that will allow you to use it with a GoPro. I just love using what I have on hand and saving some money. :)

Great product especially if your going to be doing a lot of walking. It's a walking stick and pod in one. Comfort grips like ski pole. Screw on camera is easy. Shrinks down to almost nothing for storage. Anyone with a shaky hand will greatly improve there pictures with this light weight device.
