I bought this tripod to use for a lecture series tour, and it worked as I expected for what I needed. My only complaint about it is that in the middle of one of the lectures, the camera suddenly tilted up all the way, and both the camera and tripod fell to the floor. The camera and tripod still worked perfectly, thank God. The only reason why it did that though is because of the camera's weight wasn't balanced with the stance of the tripod: when using this tripod, place the legs of the tripod so that the front leg is directly under the eye of the camera, and the opposite two legs are outside the back of the camera. There should be no problem from that point on.

It's very compact and easily carried. The construction is nice. However the light weight makes it a problem when using it with the legs not extended. The base is very small when used this way so it is problematic to find the right point where it will hold even a small camera without becoming too "tippy." You really have to work to find the "sweet spot" if you are going to use it on a table top without extending the legs. A shame as this seems the ideal use for such a small tripod and was the very reason I got it - to shoot video of a table top activity while seated at the table... Outside of this one area it performs excellent and the mount point is very sturdy.

Stabilize your camera on a tabletop using this Sunpak PlatinumPlus Mini-D 620-120BB tripod, which features 2 extendable leg sections and a locking ball head, so you can easily adjust the position of your device.

I bought this mostly as a quick tri-pod to use for shooting quick video tutorials on Youtube. I already had a pretty good camera, just needed to be able to set it up and angle it as I needed. This tripod fits that bill nicely. The only minor detractors are that attaching the camera sometimes requires you spin the whole tripod around (which actually isn't much of an issue since it is so compact) the other being the pins to collapse the legs can sometimes be a little difficult to depress as needed.

An excellent accessory for my newly purchased Cannon - PowerShot SX610 HS 20.2-Megapixel Digital Camera . It has a perfect form-factor which has proven very useful during vacations and family events.

Its obviously not made for professional shoots, but it holds up a pretty heave JVC digital camcorder with a giant extended battery without any trouble.

I like to do trick basketball shots. I mounted my camera on the tripod, put it on the floor, and adjusted the angle. It got the shot as I made the shots. This tripod works exactly as described.

while the tripod is fairly secure in the shortest and second latching position, the third height that relies on threaded connections in the legs is not entirely reliable and can release unexpectedly.

Will Not Lock and Support Camera

This tripod looked very nice, and seems a great size to carry. The legs stay stable, but the head is unable to lock. I have tried unscrewing and re-screwing the setting screw, but the ball head is poorly constructed. When loosened, it is not easy to manipulate to position, and when when tightened with the camera attached, the ball head slowly rotates the camera out of potion.

Great Tripod for Qumi Projector (or Camera)

My company recently issued me a small projector for business presentations (Vivitek Qumi Q2 Lite LED projector), but the projector doesn't have legs or any way to adjust the height/angle other than stacking things under it. I realized it had a fitting on the bottom (like a camera) for a tripod, so I set out in search of something relatively inexpensive, small enough for travel, yet sturdy enough to handle the weight of the projector (1.1 lbs). I found exactly what I needed at Best Buy and have since recommended it to all my peers. The Sunpak - Platinum Plus Mini-D Tripod is about 7" tall and extends to 11.5", and it comes with a carrying bag. It fits perfectly in the small top zipper compartment of my 21" Travelpro carry-on bag or in the front of my laptop bag. The head swivels and locks securely into place, allowing me to aim the projector exactly how I need it. It's solidly made and I feel like it's going to last for a long time. I highly recommend this compact/tabletop tripod.
