So far I beat the single player story and really liked it, thought it was really fun. After you do that there are thousands of great user created levels to play through for countless hours. If that isn't enough the level creation tools are fantastic and can keep you immersed for hours making your own unique Mario stages.

Regardless if you have the Wii U or 3ds version of the original, SMM2 is a fantastic follow up that exceeds everything the first one sought to do. Take what is already a fantastic formula, add a fun story mode, a great multiplayer mode, and even more things to make the best level your mind can come up with.

If you've always wanted to make Mario levels, and don't own a Wii U, this is the perfect game for you. If you don't care about the level creation aspect, you can still have fun playing the included levels in the story mode, and play levels from other creators, but you won't get as much out of it.

My son is very much into these creative type of games like Minecraft fortnite Roblox etc. so I surprised him with it on release day I usually make him wait until he's read about a dozen books before buying him a video game but since it's the summer I figured why not but he loves it he was surprised and excited

I love this game because of the way you can just let your imagination run wild with level creation. I hate this game (in a good way) because of the maddening intensive reflex needing button mashing for some of the levels. A great challenge with extremely high replay value. Any fan of Mario will enjoy.

I’ve spent a lot of time in the story mode (100 unique levels), the online courses (Nintendo Switch online required to access), and the level designer. The online courses are numerous and it’s less than a week after launch. If you are into 2D platformers then you’ll be missing out without this game.

Any longtime Super Mario Brothers will love this game! The story mode is excellent, and fans of all ages will love making levels! I highly recommend getting Nintendo Switch Online membership for this game! I bought the bundle edition so it was included with the game! The game won’t disappoint.

This game is legit the best Mario game ever. Play over 100 levels in a story mode, make your own levels and upload them for others to play and also beat levels and rate them from the online server. The possibilities for levels and fun is never ending. Great, solid game for the Nintendo Switch.

I'm sure kids from the 90's always imagined what it would be like to make their own video game. And to an extent this allows you to do so. Make your own levels and post them online for others to try out. Great way for individuals of all ages to enjoy what Mario games have to offer.

Expanding on the core elements of the original Mario Maker, the second game offers more to do with everything in the game, although there are some limits. Introducing a "Story Mode," players can play through a set of pre-made Nintendo levels that can highlight some nifty tricks to use when making your own levels. There's also the ability to play any levels made by other players, although you do need Nintendo Online for this and sharing your own levels with other players. That's where the game will shine, though, as player-created levels can be so varied, offering an almost limitless amount of levels to be played, although not every single level might be worthy of playing. In addition to the main game styles from the first game, MM2 offers Super Mario 3D World, which is treated as completely separate from the others. There's more backgrounds and the ability to change from day to night will offer different mechanics, such as upside down levels. Of course, there are some limits in Mario Maker 2 that can be quite baffling, such as some items being available in some styles and not in others. For example, 3D World is treated as its own thing, so you're not going to be able to use a plethora of things in it, like normal little spikes or the iconic Muncher, with the main spiky obstacle being a bit of an eyesore. Also, they did change some of the physics in the styles, so the game doesn't play exactly like the first game. This means those more advanced techniques from that game might limit some actions in this one, although it's a bit early to tell what kind of maneuvers players will come up with at this time. One of the bigger problems comes in online multiplayer matches, like Versus mode. At the moment, you can only play with random people, so you're not able to go head-to-head with friends (this will be added later). While that is an issue in and of itself, the versus mode can be incredibly laggy, sometimes to the point of it being unplayable. For a simple game like this, that can be pretty tough to deal with, and it shows how behind the times Nintendo can be with online stuff. Overall, Mario Maker 2 is a great addition to the Mario franchise, offering more ways to create levels and already a great database of levels to play from other players. However, not everything is rainbows and sunshine, as some glaring omissions from the level creator can be baffling, with one of the biggest problems coming in online multiplayer. Hopefully, Nintendo can address these issues quickly and are up to adding more to the game, making it the definitive 2D Mario experience out there.

I've waited for Mario Maker 2 to be released on the switch and now it has finally arrived. Building levels is pretty straight forward but i do find that there are so many scenes from mario brothers over the years that I would like to recreate but the tools don't offer those mechanics. This isn't a deal breaker but i suppose i was expecting a bit more in the way of options. There is a single person campaign but ultimately the game comes down to you creating your own mario themed levels. It is your choice to publish your levels and open them up to the rest of the world.

A great sequel from the first game with new madness in terms of mechanics. Getting the online bundle is worth it, since it's discounted from the normal price, and online membership can be stacked. Playing or creating, there's something for everyone to enjoy Super Mario Maker 2

I never got a chance to play the first one of these on the Wii U a few years back so finding out the sequel was going to be on the Switch was exciting! Having played through the story mode and a handful of custom levels, it's easily one of my favorite games on the Switch now!

THis game is filled with content. The story mode introduces you to a lot of the features in this game. The stage builder is amazing and allows you to make pretty much anything you can imagine. You will never run out of great user-created levels to play.

Even if you didn't play SMM1, you should get this game. If you don't like making levels, you should still get this game as there are literally endless amount of levels you can enjoy. This is easily one of the best games for the Switch out there.

My son is obsessed with this game. I played old school Mario so it’s fun for him to try and stump me by adding 1000 bad guys. The look on his face when I beat his levels is hilarious. Guess he never knew dad was an expert video game player.

MM2 makes MM1 look like child’s play. There’s so much more added to your toolbox, and if you have the online subscription, it’s fun to (rage) play with others. Story mode is a great introductory to levels and new features, but too short.
