Bought this for my son and he absolutely loved it. He beat the game in a week. The graphics are amazing and some parts it turns into the MARIO like on the original Nintendo took me back to when I was a kid. Definitely fun for all ages.

Mario Odyssey is a fantastic Mario Game which encourages exploration and experimentation while lessening frustration.
Doing away with the traditional lives system enables players to relax, enjoy, and most importantly complete the game. Even included is an easier guidance mode for younger/newer players.
It's obvious Nintendo wants everyone to to enjoy and complete the whole game.
Graphically it's gorgeous and does away with power up suits for 'capturing enemies and items in the environment. This opens up the player to a multitude of fun scenarios that never have happened before.
It runs fantastically in portable mode as well...i usually got around 3 hrs a charge on the internal battery.
Mario Odyssey is another system seller for the Switch and is reason enough alone to buy one. I could recommend it enough!

If you have any doubt about getting this game and you enjoy platformers or exploration type of games, you can slap those doubts away immediately. Super Mario Odyssey builds itself from all of the previous 3D (and to some extent 2D) games. It has the right amount of elements from each and it compliments Mario's newest feature/gimmick, cappy. The keyword for this game is "surprise". No matter how long I've been playing, the gameplay and exploration never gets stale. There are many things to discover and do that they can't be listed in this review. My only minor gripe with the game is oddly its controls. While many will tell you that motion controls are optional, there are actually a few moons that will require the use for them (ableit, very very very briefly). An improvement over Galaxy's, but still annoying.

I waited too long to pick this up. Super Mario Odyssey is a fantastic game with all the wonderful worlds you can imagine.
The mechanics with the hat work really well, and all of the mechanics in the game are so integrated into the core experience. It doesn't feel like anything was added as a last minute decision.
The controls are normally very tight, but I did have the infrequent problem of jumping in the wrong direction or having to move the camera to see where I needed to go. It's a small issue, but it makes collecting some of the moons more difficult.
That aside, it is great on the Switch, and I can play it on my TV or take it with me. If you like Mario or you are looking for a superb game, this will be great for adults or kids who want to have fun.

Super Mario Odyssey is the latest anticipated 3D platformer from Nintendo that lives up to the Mario series' lofty expectations.
The game rolls all the positives of the series together in an excellent blend of platforming fun. There are multiple large worlds to explore with dozens of collectables items in each of them. You'll want to keep exploring these levels with the smooth controls the game gives you in the form of multiple types of walks, runs, jumps, and, thanks to your newest sidekick Cappy, transformations.
There's plenty of new things to discover in the game even after you beat the story, making Super Mario Odyssey an easy recommendation. This game really is a must-have for owners of the Switch and both longtime Mario fans and newcomers.

Yes, it’s true Nintendo has done it again by keeping this ageless Mario vs Bowser-rescue the princess theme alive and strong. In this version you’ll use ALL the features of your new switch, plus the added twist of a 2nd player joining you as Mario’s hat or (alternate item) At first glance it sounds silly, right? Think again, it’s ingenious how much a 2nd player can help you take advantage of levels to achieve mission success. Also, allowing you to reach hidden items you never could reach on your own. The story mode was easy to defeat, approximately 8-10 hours total. Nintendo compensated for this by adding addicting challenges and items to find as you revisit all the Oddesey Worlds you’ve unlocked. This is a must have game for any gamer, and fan of this never dying franchise. Happy gaming!

This game is a must have for Nintendo and/or Mario lovers. The open world play is great, the graphics are amazing, and I'm constantly going back through and seeing/finding things I didn't see before. You won't regret this one!

Mario Odyssey is an excellent Mario title! Nintendo proves once again that you don't need top tier graphics to make an exciting and beautiful game. Every location you visit is gorgeous in its own way. The game's use of textures really make every little detail pop out at you. The platforming in the game is the best yet. The controls are tight and collectibles are challenging to obtain at times. You can play the game how you would like to play it. If you just want to beat the game and do the minimum, you're able to, but if you really want to take the time to find every nook and cranny, the game rewards you for that. I can't rave enough about this game. It's very open and, while some locations are linear, you often pick you own path and methods of getting to your destination.

Super Mario Odyssey is a stunning platformer, and a welcome return to the more open, exploration style of past classics like Super Mario 64 and Sunshine. There are so many great surprises and secrets in the game, and I’m not even close to being finished with the game yet. The soundtrack and visuals are wonderful, the former being among my favorite game soundtracks already. It is a very hard choice for me between this game and Breath of the Wild for GOTY, as I’m sure it will be for many people and media outlets. While ultimately I think Breath of the Wild will be GOTY for me, Odyssey comes awfully close. Quite simply, Odyssey is the best Mario game at least since the Galaxy games, and it’s on its way to surpassing them as my favorite 3D Mario game ever.

Over the years, I’ve spent more time playing Super Mario Bros than probably any other game I own. The classsic NES Game has been my go to and from time to time, I still find something new. I’ve been trying to beat the speed record for as long as I can remember and it’s still just as much fun today as it was the first time I played it.
Now comes along Odyssey. This game is by far as much fun to play and enjoyable as Super Mario Bros. The graphics and sound are spot on, the gameplay is smooth and I’ve been addicted to it the above other great games out right now because of the fun factor it delivers. The kids are hooked and enjoy the modern feel it brings. I highly recommend this to anybody who remembers the old days. You won’t be disappointed.
